Modern Japanese Farmhouse Experience
A rural retreat, off the tourist path, but easily accessible by train from Tokyo. We were keen for some rural Japan after quite a few stops in urban centres. The house is in a quiet, unspoilt setting. You can do short walks from the house that can include views of Mount Fuji down the valley. There's other places you can pop into too, such as the Owl Cafe or the wonderful deli/shop at the petrol station up the road. The house itself has kept its rustic and traditional appearance and features, while also having very functional equipment, from Wifi to everything you'd need for cooking. Some great places to read and relax in, from the garden to by the wood burner. We did not have car which was fine - it's just 6 minutes by taxi from the station, but a car would allow you to explore further afield. Ryo the host was very helpful with answering questions rapidly and clearly. I would highly recommend!

Japanese-Style Room with Shared Bathroom
We loved our stay in a family room. We used the private onsen every day and used the public onsen once, both were amazing. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we felt right at home. I loved the futons, the most comfortable bed since being in Japan. Plenty of parking, nice warm room. Would highly recommend

Japanese traditional house
We really enjoyed our stay with Miwa. Her son was responsive to messages, especially useful when we organised to have our bags forwarded and to change our plans slightly due to bad weather. When we arrived, Miwa gave us a warm welcome and took us on a a tour of the place. It was spotless clean and has a nice warm shower. As described, it is a traditional home, so perfect if you want to experience sleeping on a futon atop tatami mats. We visited the area to walk the Nakasendo Trail but on this particular day the weather was very wet and so we decided to rest for the day instead. The village on a Sunday is very quiet and many of the restaurants shut up shop early. Given the situation, Miwa took pity on us and brought us some lovely baked goods. We were made to feel very welcome and would recommend a stay here for anyone visiting the area.

Kashiwaya Ryokan Kaede
Quiet and peaceful location that’s close to Nakagomi station, the convenience store, and many small local shops. The family living there is quick to help if you need it. If you’re looking for a place to crash at night and cook in the morning and don’t mind the faint smell of tobacco smoke, would recommend in a heartbeat.

Kazeya Group1 Private Onsen & Quiet Hotel "Kazeya"
This is an amazing place to relax.

【Snow monkey area】Kaneki hotel
Definitely recommend if you wanna stay close to the Snow Monkey Park as it’s only an hour walk! Great place with amenities & also provides a public & private onsen!

Wu Lin 'an: Hundreds of people in the Hokkaido mountain range
Beautiful house and clean. Recommend👍

Twin/Large double bed room with shared facilities
Our stay at Abiya was very pleasant. We have met people from around the world, even a couple from Belgium where I have profound youth memories. Yoshi and Seongmin are excellent hosts who treated guests like family and looking constantly at our well being. It is definitely the place I will go back. Thanks Yoshi and Seongmin again and take care!

Yanagiya at castle town:private room A, 6 tatami
Guesthouse Yanagiya and the surrounding village is even more charming than the photos can express. Yukie is a very caring host, and she has created a space that invites its guests to interact in a comfortable setting. Rooms are simple, yet clean. The location is great for a relaxing getaway, and is about 1-1.5 hours ride via train to the Magome/Tsumago Nakasendo trail. While that trail is indeed worth the effort to travel to, Iwamura and the castle ruins are very beautiful, quaint, and way less busy than the Nakasendo trail. In the future, I would love to return!

15 min Magome. Renovated tradi ryokan up to 7 ppl
Thank you for a wonderful stay! Your place was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. We truly appreciated the thoughtful touches and the effort you put into making guests feel welcome. It made our trip all the more enjoyable. Wishing you all the best, and we hope to stay here again in the future!

Double bed room(Single use) with shared facilities
A place where you can slow down…the space was warm, cozy, clean and friendly . The area was small and yet vast with mountains all around and apple orchards for days. This place makes you feel alive and yet so quiet and peaceful. Thank you for the stay and all the wealth of knowledge and care for making my stay feel like home :) I will be back again :) and recommend to those who want to slow down :)

Japanese-style lighting/BBQ/Irori/15 minutes by car to Ena City/Private rental for one group per day/Old house Mahoroba
Such a really nice place ! The house was super clean, beautiful, the futons were more than comfortable and you can even enjoy watching movies with the video projector. The bbq and the lights were also a plus. It’s not common to find an airbnb with this quality so I can only recommend.

I had a great night in this traditional inn. Extremely good value for the price and a large bedroom.

Hotel cloth Kannon Onsen (8 tatami Japanese room) 1 ~ 3 people
Amazing place to stay. The rooms are warm and cozy, with windows that let in sun and can be opened on warm days. The onsen was very relaxing and clean. Hosts were amazingly welcoming and helpful. Really felt taken care of and they looked out for us. Not too many things to do directly around the ryokan, however that was perfectly fine for us and we spent most of our time comfortably in our room
