Vacation rentals in Midlothian

We’ve just retuned from a wonderful stay at Ratho Park Steading, a truly beautiful house, warm, inviting, peaceful with all the amenities you need. We booked the East House for three nights, as a family of six with our adult children and their partners. The house was a perfect base to enjoy the tranquility of the countryside, whilst being only a 30 minute Uber ride into the city, we were there to explore the Christmas markets and soak up the atmosphere of Edinburgh at Christmas. The house is incredibly spacious whilst there were six adults, we never felt overcrowded at any point. Each bedroom was cosy, comfortable with clean linen and towels… the house was pristine! Dannii was a perfect host, answered any questions we had, provided us with detailed directions for arrival and recommendations for sightseeing. We visited the Bridge Inn which is a short walk away, we’d highly recommend dinner there, it was fantastic. We loved it!

The cottage was a lot bigger than I thought it would be! You come in up a small hill where there was space for both our cars. It felt very private. There is a cottage next door, but the people inside were incredibly quite. The area was very quite in general. The cottage was warm and cosy and the decor fit in with the cottage, country feel. Both rooms were a good size and had their on ensuites, which came in handy with getting ready to head out for the day. They also both had somewhere to do your hair and makeup, which was nice. Storage was big, with the main bedroom having a big wardrobe with hangers. Edinburgh is a 30/40 minute drive, which was easy to navigate. As all the other reviews say, those dreaded pot holes 😂 Once we had gone through a few times, it became easier to avoid the worst of it, just be carefule with the one before the hill up and stick to the left to prevent scraping the bottom of your car!

All expectations met, nice and quiet escape and good scenery around the huts.

This is one of the coziest, well-thought-out Airbnbs we’ve had the pleasure of staying in! Suzie & Glen are so kind & have thought of everything & have created the loveliest oasis! The little touches they added made for the warmest welcome, from robes to twinkle lights to the best stocked kitchen! We could not get over the generous welcome basket & so appreciated having breakfast, coffee, treats & more for our stay! Even the pup had welcome treats! The cottage is very clean & has everything you could ever need including tons of local info & walking maps. The cottage is beautifully set in the woods but close to a lovely village with a nice pub. Glenkinchie Distillery is very close, the train to Edinburgh was quick & easy, & the nearby coast is absolutely beautiful — so much to do in the area! But we found ourselves wanting to head back to the cottage to enjoy cozy evenings! Thank you to Suzie & Glen for the most relaxing getaway, & we hope to return!

Thank you so much, Mike and Sandy! We had such a wonderful stay at your cozy cabin—it was the perfect fit for us (2 adults and 2 kids). The location was super convenient, being close to the train station for our trip to Edinburgh. The cabin smelled amazing and had almost everything we needed. Our kids especially loved the board games you provided, such a thoughtful touch! Outside the cabin, they also had a blast playing with the sports equipment like badminton, the ball, and baseball before we headed out for the day. We truly enjoyed our stay and hope to visit again in the future. Highly recommend this cabin for a family getaway!

Neil's place was amazing! Highly reccomended. Easy to get to thru bus and Uber. The place feels like home, we're able to have home cooked meals and the interior is well thought of. Really beautiful place to stay at. Neil is also very easy to talk to, we had to extend another night as our tour was moved to another day due to snow and Neil was quick to reply hence our stay in Scotland was very memorable. Thank you so much Neil. Greatly appreciate.

The host was super friendly and the house was in perfect conditions. We had a lovely time there!

Came up for a wedding over the weekend with another couple and we all had a great stay! Would recommend!
