Villa vacation rentals in Matera

We had a wonderful week at Carmine's villa in Castellaneta in August 2024. The house has large and well organized spaces, 4 double and one double rooms, divided on two levels with a bathroom per floor and also an outdoor bathroom and laundry that turned out to be very comfortable for returning from the sea. The house was well stocked with clean sheets and set of towels, all the necessary things in the kitchen, two refrigerators/freezer, air conditioning and fans that work perfectly. The location is great if you are looking for a quiet vacation, the best beach near the house is 10 minutes away by car, but there is the closest waterfront you can walk to. Carmine has maintained constant, kind, clear and welcoming communication before and during the stay. I would recommend it!

We stayed at Paola's place for a family holiday with 7 people. The location was perfect, having Bari at our doorstep and other interesting places (Matera, Polignano, Alberobello, Monopoli) just under an hour's drive away. The garden is an absolute dream, we stayed in April and the pitosfori plants were in full bloom with an incredible scent - enjoying the evening drawing in outside in the swingchair on the patio was lovely. You can even hear an owl at night! The house is amazing, with an extremely generous living space downstairs and a well equipped kitchen. There's a super cool staircase leading upstairs where there are 4 double bedrooms (2 en-suite). It's absolutely perfect for a family trip or for a group of friends. The sea is a short walk away at the end of the road. Paola is a superb host, she's very caring and responsive and will go out of her way to make sure you're having a good time. We had an absolutely fantastic Easter at Paola's place and can wholeheartedly recommend it!

Nicola is extremely friendly, attentive and accommodating. His villa is a dream and tastefully decorated with a lot of love. You feel right at home. The system is guarded and well-maintained. The sea is within walking distance. Bars, restaurants, and shopping have to be reached. In bad weather, we recommend tours to the old towns of Martina Franca and Cisternino. But pay attention to the siesta;-), otherwise you walk through empty alleys. We highly recommend Nicolas Villa. Everything was right to get to know Puglia a little from here. Thank you, Nicola.

Our stay was wonderful. Claudio and mum were very very helpful. Being so close to the sea was a blessing and the house offered everything we needed. We found a generous welcome with wine, pasta, and fruit. It was all we needed after a long trip in case we didn't want to go out that night. They were really really nice. If only, I'd suggest adding to the house explanations that visitors need water shoes to go into the water. There is no sand on this beach and rocks can be very slippery. Otherwise fully recommendable!!!

Absolutely wonderful! I stayed for four weeks and the property had everything I could want. The apartment was clean and honestly larger than I was expecting. The entire property is gated, so it felt incredibly safe and peaceful. Ippazio’s gardens are absolutely stunning and there was nothing more relaxing than sitting by his pool. Ippazio was an amazing host—very kind and always responded quickly to any questions. He gave a bunch of great recommendations for local restaurants and stores. The absolute highlight of my entire trip was Kitty, the little black cat who lives on the property who was one of the sweetest cats I’ve ever met! I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

We had the absolute pleasure of staying in this stunning home for three nights, and I can confidently say it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect – the house was spotless, beautifully decorated, and equipped with everything we could possibly need. The location was fantastic, offering both tranquility and easy access to local attractions. The host was incredibly responsive, welcoming, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable stay. Thank you for an unforgettable stay!

Marco’s place is truly in the countryside on a very ‘non-touristy’ country road lined by small farms. We literally stood in the garden and watched a flock of sheep being moved down the narrow street past our fence. There are a variety of lovely spots in the garden to sit and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The rooms and furnishings are in a classic ‘old school’ un-modernised style which was a lovely contrast to other different accommodation styles we experienced on our trip to the south of Italy. There is no shower us such but a hand held shower hose in the bath - which was absolutely fine, no problems, but you do have to step in and out of the bath which could pose a problem for people with mobility issues (but fine for us). Being in the countryside the last couple of kilometres to the house are quite rough (pot holed bitumen) but this adds to the charm and sense of being away from any touristy zone too. The location is great - from here we easily drive to Matera, Pisticci, Craco etc

We had a fantastic stay. Our only issues were 1. No information booklet 2. Cooker was not easy to use 3. No taxis in the town so had to walk 25-30 minutes to and from the restraunts.

5 Star, a great place to stay that had everything which you want! Excellent location as it’s walking distance to the beach and a 5 min train to Bari. Would definitely recommend for any larger groups!

A wonderful idyll, somewhat remote and wonderfully quiet. Everything very tasteful and very well equipped. Marta was always available and took great care. Thank you, we will be happy to come back

This was our second stay at Cristina’s place. The villa is exceptional, beautiful, filled with authentic stories and very magical. Our host helped answer every question and even arranged cooking lesson with Carmela, Maria and Grazia. Pepino was stopping by to check if we need anything, he even helped arrange a haircut! The kids loved the pool! But the tennis court was an amazing addition for the adults! We played a lot!!! Thank you for having us and I hope to return once again!

everything as described, only the coffee maker was missing to be happy. I highly recommend it, we felt at home. In October, the water in the pool is cool, definitely warmer in the sea, but we didn't mind.

We stayed in a group of 5 in this typical trulli of the region, quiet, with a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside. The house is in a good location, close to many tourist places. It has two bathrooms with toilets, which is very convenient, and everything you need for a comfortable stay. Spyros was very nice and available, communication was easy and smooth, and he was very accommodating. Some points to note: the house retains some moisture, and the pool is not heated, which can limit its use depending on the season. Overall, a lovely stay in an authentic and relaxing setting.

Paul’s place was absolutely fantastic! From the easy check in and check out provided by Domenico to the most gorgeous home! Paul has thought of everything that a family would want in a cozy home like atmosphere, a beautifully landscaped outdoor space, large pool and total security. High tech appliances and modern decor give the space even more appeal. Paul was on call 24/7 to help us with anything we required. All in all a 5 star plus experience!

A wonderful place to stay and a very friendly host. Everything was clean, the kitchen was very well equipped and you had the great pool all to yourself. We and our children were very happy. Thanks a lot!

Luca was a very responsive host, he was able to accommodate all my requests. The villa was beautiful and spacious and just as seen in the photos. Highly recommended. Will definitely book again when I return to Bari in July.

We stayed at this villa during the week of Ferragosto. After an intense year of work, we needed a quiet place to regain our energy and be with our daughters. Well, Villa Rita was exactly what we needed. Charming villa, spacious, attention to detail, with quality furnishings, embroidered sheets, comforts of all kinds and a clean and large swimming pool that was very difficult to stay out of. Claudia was a host always available during and after the booking for advice or useful information and her father was able to take care of us and the villa in a discreet and polite manner. A wonderful bubble with the scent of citrus. Impossible not to go back.

We had a great time in Judith's place. it was clean, spacious and very welcoming. We arrived in the dark and had a bit of a hard time locating it by the instructions listed on AirBNB but Judith was wonderful and communicated with us closely until we found it. The room that was the kids room has a separated entrance, which can be great but my kids didn't approve :) so they slept in the living room. still- we had an amazing time, the kitchen is well equipped and there are beautiful sitting areas inside and outside of the house. Thank you Judith for a great stay! We definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for a peaceful time.

Fabulous place to stay with our family. Very spacious , nice decor , outdoor area and pool is fabulous . Need a car to drive to all the local towns. Went to a great local restaurant that host booked for us . Would highly recommend this place .

Stefania's place is in a beautiful location, overlooking the Adriatic and the scenic countryside of Puglia. It's in a great location to be able to get to multiple beautiful towns in the region with many great things to do and see. Be prepared that it's in a remote location, nestled in the olive trees and vineyards of the area, and the roads can be rough. However, once you get there, the house is very comfortable with a beautiful pool. Stefania's house is clean, well-appointed and has everything you need.
