High Biggin - 5 Star Gold Award Holiday Cottage

KellyRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
The location was amazing and the views were spectacular. This home was exactly what it said on the tin. We were all blown away by it and had beautiful weather to make the most of the outdoor area. The only thing we did notice was that there wasn’t enough wine glasses & champagne flutes. Not ideal when there was 8 women so we had to use half pint glasses. We could have also done with more dishwasher tablets to last the stay. Apart from that it was perfect. Thank you.
The cottage is set against a dramatic mountainous backdrop, featuring a large, functioning waterwheel prominently on display. Green grass and small trees frame the structure, creating a natural setting. A gentle stream is visible nearby, enhancing the serene landscape.

Stunning mountain house with hot tub & waterwheel

PoppyRating, 5 stars2 months ago
The house is fabulous! The surrounding area so beautiful and you’re really able to appreciate the views from the grounds. The unmade road is rather severe; we managed to get through it in a VW Polo, Kia Picanto and and Ford KA, but we would not recommend driving up there in a smaller and or lower car unless you’re a very confident driver. At parts it is very steep and there are many pot holes. The house was very clean and any parts that didn’t sparkle were simply due to the age of the property. The building is split in to multiple holiday rentals so bear in mind you’ll be sharing the parking and surrounding areas with others. The hot tub was absolutely lovely also- was a perfect temperature when we arrived and is under a shelter so can be used in all weather. Overall, we had a wonderful trip and would definitely return! Thank you! :)

Moss Side Farm Cottage, Hot Tub, Secure Garden.

SarahRating, 5 stars2 months ago
We had a lovely weekend at Moss Side Farm, we travelled with friends, small children and dogs. The contained garden was perfect for the dogs and the farm was lovely to take the children to see the animals. The accommodation is really homely and a good size. Louise is super friendly and helpful, and arranged an extra cot for us which we really appreciated! Would totally recommend this place for a quiet weekend away.

Cottage on Lake Windermere-beach,hot tub,sauna

LukeRating, 5 stars3 days ago
Just wow. What a beautiful place, and even more wonderful hosts, Mark and Ruth. Staying here felt like stepping back in time, bringing back nostalgic memories of summer trips to the Lakes as a child. It’s a warm, traditional, and welcoming place, perfect for families or couples looking for a peaceful getaway. The hot tub and sauna were fantastic, properly heated and well-maintained, a cut above the lukewarm versions we’ve experienced elsewhere. The grounds are truly stunning: expansive gardens, a forest and stream for kids to explore, and even a private stretch of beach on a secluded part of Lake Windermere. It’s just far enough from Bowness to enjoy the tranquility, but close enough for an easy drive or quick taxi ride into town. Truly a special place. We couldn’t recommend it more!

A huge thank you to Jackie, John and Cooper 🐶 for everything during our stay this week. The accommodation was perfect for us and felt like home from home. The little additional touches were most appreciated. The location was perfect for walking our dogs, getting a train, walking into Kendal or getting in / out of Kendal by car. We would love to come back when we are next up visiting family in Kendal.

Fell Cottage, Staveley

LaurenRating, 5 stars1 week ago
This is such a beautiful village and cottage. We felt like we’d stumbled across a diamond. Staveley is so lovely, well located to fells and towns, and the village itself is great. We enjoyed having pizza at More? bakery and the Eagle and Child Inn. The cottage was perfect for us, our two kids and our dog. It’s beautifully clean and maintained. The beds were super comfy and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook at home. We absolutely loved the sauna after running or walking in the fells. We also really appreciated the dog treats, the free port, the coffee pod machine and the ability to buy wine in the cottage when we had run out. We will definitely be back, thanks Morven and Phillip!

Superb location and the perfect base for exploring the area. I only wish I had more time to enjoy Cate’s place and its beautiful surroundings—it all looked absolutely stunning. I had a quiet coffee outside one morning before heading home, and it was incredibly peaceful. Inside, everything was just as expected and fully equipped. Cate also left me some of the best brownies and cookies I’ve ever eaten—such a thoughtful touch!

My husband & I had a lovely stay at Hazels apartment. A lovely location and only a 10 min stroll into town via a couple of really nice canal side pubs! The apartment was very well equipped with everything you could need. Spotlessly clean. Great WiFi, even a Smart TV and all kitchen mod-cons. Hazel was great at proactively communicating with us all along after booking, even during our stay. A short question to ask if we were ok and she could help in anyway. I would not hesitate to recommend a stay at Hazels apartment. Lots of lovely walking around the area and I’d recommend lunch or dinner at either of the canal pubs or Merchants in the town .

Luxury 4 Star Cosy Lakeland Cottage

IanRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We spent 5 nights here at the end of March and start of April 2025. We were really fortunate with the weather and took full advantage of the wonderful location: scaling Slight Side and Scafell on one day, riding to Coniston via the bridleway on another and 'bagging' most of the Coniston fells on another day via Wrynose Pass. We ate in on a couple of nights and also went to the Wainwright's for some pub grub, as well as Stoves for their evening menu. Simon and Belinda's place is very well situated in Great Langdale for all kinds of walks and rides, food and decent pints. The house itself is a lovely place to return to in the evening with easy parking outside for our van and once inside, everything is spotless, well equipped and cosy. We really appreciated all the helpful information on bike routes and walking routes and spent the late evenings by the fire pouring over the Wainwright books planning the next day's adventures. 100% recommended.

Townfoot Cottage, EV & dog friendly

SarahRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We had a fantastic stay at this beautiful cottage in Elterwater — the perfect base for exploring the Lake District. Four of us (two couples) and our dog had plenty of space to relax. The cottage was spotless, with comfortable beds, high-quality linen and towels, and excellent appliances throughout. The location is unbeatable, nestled right in the heart of the valley with stunning 360-degree views and direct access to countless walking routes into the surrounding mountains. There’s a great local pub just a short stroll away and an outstanding nearby restaurant focusing on small plates and local produce — a real highlight. Although the cottage has one designated parking spot, there’s plenty of additional parking within two minutes’ walk, which made things very easy. Alun is a fantastic host — warm, reliable, and always helpful. We’ve stayed in a few of his properties now, and they never disappoint. We’d definitely seek out one of his places again next time we’re in the Lakes.
A green-clad mini lodge is shown with large glass doors that provide ample natural light. A secure decking area surrounds the lodge, and the grass is well-maintained, creating a welcoming exterior. Nearby vehicles and other accommodations are faintly visible in the background.
