This listing is an opportunity to have a whole wild jungle and river to yourself. You can relax and swim in a private river just steps from your off grid home. The river front property has multiple waterfalls, a secluded river beach and a lava tube/cave surrounded by lush jungle. This listing includes 2 private rooms, one in the house, another separate cabin studio, and two twins in the house living room, sleeping 6 total. The property is best for those comfortable in wild places.

The space
The property is 4 acres along a river, and when you book this listing you will have the whole property to yourself. The home is has a well stock kitchen for cooking, and a large lanai to relax and gather.
its perfect for couples and friends traveling together, and families with children who love nature have really enjoyed being here. The entire property is off grid with water catchment and solar power. Water filtration devices are provided for drinking water.

The parking lot is easily accessible from the road, and then there is a beautiful 150 yard walk down a set of stairs and along a path which leads to the house. This property has uneven terrain, thus is best for folks who are steady on their feet with basic level of fitness and balance. Due to the walk from the parking most guests keep luggage light, and there is another entrance to drop luggage off as well that is close to the home that offers easier access when carrying items. There are several access points to get down to the river to relax and swim! Many love spending time on the screened in lanai looking out and listening to the sounds of the surrounding jungle and river.

We are halfway up the Hamakua Coast, with several sights such as the Laupahoehoe Point, Kole Kole Beach Park, Honomu and Akaka falls are all within 10-15 minutes. Hilo is 25 minutes south for snorkling, farmers markets and great activites, and we are an hour from the famous white sand Hapuna Beach. Its a great place to explore a lot of the island on the days you want to get out. Many guests really enjoy just spending the whole day on the property as well.

Guest access
When you book this listing you have the whole property to yourself. The owner occasionally pops by to check water/power levels however we communicate with guests before coming by. There are two paths down to the river that you and your group can use.

Other things to note
* This property requires being comfortable with stairs, traversing jungle paths, and occasionally slippery rocks by the river.
* We recommend no overly heavy luggage as you will need to carry it down a set of stairs and along a rock laid path to the house.
* This home is best for those comfortable in wild places, and are ok with occasional bugs!
* The 14.41% Hawaii State Transient Accommodation tax is included in our total price. (Other listings may add this price on top of the per-night fee, and collect it separately.) Our airbnb cabin is permitted and completely legal within the new Hawaii regulations.
