The space
Perched above the coastal canyons of Topanga, the Skyway Apartment offers a tranquil, design-forward retreat surrounded by open sky and canyon views. Though part of a larger mountain estate, it feels like its own private world—separate entrance, full kitchen, and expansive windows overlooking the valley below.
The space is bright, warm, and thoughtfully composed for comfort and creativity. Natural textures, organic linens, and earthy tones create an atmosphere of calm simplicity.
The bedrooms are cosy and situated separately, with natural-fiber mattresses and organic cotton “parachute” linens to ensure deep rest. The bathroom features a spacious shower with luxury fittings, completing your retreat experience.
While entirely self-contained, the Skyway Apartment shares the same mountain sanctuary as the Main House —each with its own entrance and distinct energy. When booked together as the Whole Property, the layout functions beautifully for families, groups, or creative retreats seeking connection with room to breathe.
You’ll be surrounded by hiking trails just outside your door, with easy access to Tuna Canyon State Park, Malibu’s beaches, and the heart of Topanga Village, just a 7-minute drive away. Expect winding roads, fresh ocean breezes, and the kind of quiet that nourishes the nervous system and invites true restoration.
While entirely self-contained, the Apartment (aka 'The Skyway Apartment') has its own private entrance and distinct energy. Bright, warm, and thoughtfully designed with earthy natural tones for comfort and creativity, the space is surrounded by open sky and sweeping canyon views. Though part of a larger mountain estate, it feels like a private world all its own.
The lower level features a spacious multi-purpose living area with oversized lounge seating, expansive views across the mountain creek valley, a dedicated work space, and a surround sound speaker system. This level also includes a full bathroom with sunken tub, washer and dryer, and a soothing steam room ideal for unwinding after a day in nature.
The second level is dedicated to two cozy bedrooms and a full bathroom, along with an open layout space that connects the kitchen, dining area, and sitting space. The living space includes a projector and surround sound speakers for an immersive movie night. Every corner of the apartment is crafted to invite calm, inspiration, and connection with the surrounding landscape.
Guest access
There is a flight of steep steps from the roadside, down to the front door of the rental unit. Due to the steep hillside location, this property is not ideal if mobility is limited.
Guests have full access to the bottom floor and second floor of the Apartment, including the private entryway, terrace, and walking paths around the property. The hot tub is only available to the guests in the main house.
The apartment is part of a larger mountain estate that also includes the Main House and Yurt Studio, each with their own entrances. While all structures are positioned for privacy, guests may occasionally cross paths on outdoor walkways. When booked together as the Whole Property, all areas are made fully available for your group’s exclusive use.
Ample parking is available along the road, above the driveway. Please note that access is via a scenic, winding mountain road, typical of Topanga Canyon and part of its charm.
Other things to note
Topanga is a peaceful, close-knit community where sound carries easily through the canyon. Quiet hours are from 10 PM to 8 AM. We ask that outdoor music and conversation remain low and respectful at all times.
The property sits on the side of a mountain, and the driveway is steep with steps down to the entryway. Please take care when arriving, particularly at night, and note that this home may not be suitable for guests with mobility limitations.
Due to Topanga’s High Fire Zone regulations, smoking, incense, and open flames are strictly prohibited anywhere on the property.
Topanga life offers serenity and immersion in nature --with the balance of occasional rustic quirks: brief power outages, visiting wildlife, or the sound of coyotes at night. These are part of the authentic canyon experience that makes this place so grounding and unique.
