Modern creature comforts meet cozy cabin spice in this 850 square foot chalet style condo. With ceilings lined in 30 year old pine and bedrooms stocked with cozy bedding The Little Fox Den is the perfect blend for those looking for rustic luxury. Centrally located on Deep Creek Lake in the mountains of Western Maryland — it’s the perfect spot to dip your toes in the water or explore the trails of Garrett County.
The space
*Neighborhood construction on the roads will last for 3 weeks in September and should be completed by October. We have opted to remove the house from the market for September in an abundance of caution, we do not want anyone’s vacation to be disrupted by noise or construction vehicles. If we find that the construction has not been completed by October and you’ve booked with us we’ll reach out to you directly about cancellation, rebooking, or keeping your stay as is options.*
The space is small and cozy, hence “little” being in the name. It’s been professionally designed to have everything you need for a convenient and comfortable stay no matter what your agenda holds.
We recommend this space for young couple’s or very small young families. It is 850sq ft. I believe that the photos and description represent that accurately.
The loft/workspace features a king size daybed, dedicated work space, smart tv, ac unit, and privacy curtains. The first floor bedroom features a queen size bed with casper mattress and windows surrounded by trees and ferns. Both mattresses were purchased new in 2023.
Please be aware, this space was designed with couples in mind. There are only two beds, making this space best for 2 couples or 1 couple with children. (we advice parents to have their children sleep in the downstairs bedroom, not the loft as the spiral staircase can be difficult to navigate in the dark.)
The dining area seats 4 and the kitchen is fully stocked with basic spices, oil, vinegar, and salt and pepper. We also provide paper towels, dish towels, pots, pans, knives, utensils, and a keurig coffee maker as well as an assortment of k-cups from tea to coffee as well as sugar packets- although we always do our best to provide the highest quality food items particular brands for snacks, coffee, tea, and sugar vary and there may be more or less available at any given time.
The bathroom features a washer, dryer, laundry pods, and a tub shower combo. Toiletries are available but they are travel size and the brand and size varies based on availability, if you require more shampoo or conditioner or have personal preferences we recommend bringing your own.
The living room features lake and mountain views year round from the comfort of the couch and wood burning fireplace. It has a smart tv so you can login to your favorite streaming services or unplug and enjoy the record player and assortment of provided records.
The outdoor space has a sectional and solo stove mesa xl that's very easy to use! (one photo features a previous fire feature that was just too complicated but the view is too good not to share!) as well as a small dining table and two chairs. It is important to note that although this space is in a neighborhood it is still at a lake in the mountains. There will be bugs at times and wildlife. We supply organic outdoor bug surface spray for our guests and although we have a pest control service sometimes you may see a mosquito, bee, or fly. There are also bears, deer, lots of chipmunks, groundhogs, and birds. We ask that everyone respect the wildlife, they live here, we’re just visiting!
The Fox Den is a 5 minute walk down a designated path to Brenda's Pizza, Traders Coffee House, Subway, or High Mountain Sports where you can rent kayaks or stand up paddle boards to take across the street to the lake. You can also rent a dock slip from High Mountain Sports to bring your own boat. We are 15 minutes from Wisp Resort, 10 Minutes to Deep Creek Lake State Park, or Fork Run Recreation area where you can rock climb, mountain bike, trail run, or hike. The grocery store is also about a 10 minute drive away.

The space is ideal for mature adults and families, and is not a great fit for people looking to party. We do have neighbors who are full time residents, and we care deeply about ensuring the area remains quiet and peaceful for them. Please plan accordingly.
Guest access
Guests will have access to the entire condo. Some closets are locked for our personal items including the storage room under the house.
Other things to note
Smoking: this is a nonsmoking house, inside and out!
Pets: Unfortunately the HOA does not allow us to have visiting pets so we are not dog friendly at this time unless you have a service dog. We also do not allow cats because of personal allergies.
Cleaning Fee: In a post COVID world cleanliness is more important than ever. If there's anything COVID taught us it is that you can't cut corners when it comes to health and sanitization. At The Fox Den we wash everything you use every time. We use a linen service to supply sanitary bedding and towels for every guest. We use a number of fabric (carpet and furniture) and laundry sanitizers as well to ensure 99.9% of germs on all surfaces are removed. Our cleaners are also responsible for restocking the amenities in both the kitchen and bathroom. We fully believe that our cleaners are worth every penny and play an integral roll in the experience we provide at DCL!
Parking: Please Park 1 car directly in front of the units deck. If you have more than one car there is overflow parking in the lower lot or to the right of the unit (there is a small fenced bump out overlooking the units below). There is no towing enforced we simply ask that you be considerate and mindful of neighbors and cars getting by. Boats can not be parked over night in the neighborhood but can be parked at Deep Creek Lake State Park for a fee.
Weather: The weather at Deep Creek can change on a dime. We can’t control it or predict it so we don’t offer refunds due to inclement weather at this time. If you’re concerned about it we recommend purchasing travel insurance which Airbnb provides while checking out.
