Room in a home

Your own room in a home, plus access to shared spaces.
Thabela House is a charming family home that was originally built in 1937, upgraded in 1987 by the previous owners and again in 2017 by the current owner.

It still features the original pressed high ceilings, and the wooden flooring.

The name Thabela is one of the praise or clan names for the surname Gasa, the founder of Thabela House. This was done as a tribute to her ancestors, and her family at large.

Family is not just an important part of our lives, it's everything.

The space
The space consists of 3 bedrooms, with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom (en-suite), being made available to our guests. The 3rd bedroom is the only private space in the house currently being used by the caretaker, but she will be moving into an outbuilding soon.

The house boasts a spacious lounge and living area, a fully fitted kitchen and a dining area where breakfast and other meals are served. Depending on the weather outside seating can be used.

The backyard has a well-manicured garden with a swimming pool, lapa outside toilet, and a braai area as well as a patio containing a pool table and outdoor furniture for our guests.

We love our home, we hope that you will love it too.

Guest access
Guests will have access to the entire house, except the private bedroom and will be shown how to operate the gas stove, and other equipment if necessary.

The kitchen is equiped with the following basics;
salt and pepper,
100ml olive oil,
coffee and tea,
brown sugar,
dish washing liquid and dish cloths

The bathroom will be equiped with
Bath towels and mats
Toilet paper
Shower gel or soap
Shampoo
Body lotion

During your stay
The space is offered with breakfast on the go (bacon and eggs, toast, fruit, juice, tea or coffee), which guests must indicate the time they wish to have their breakfast (between 07h00 and 09h00). This will be the only major interaction with the guests, however we are always available to assist with anything possible.

Other things to note
The host lives on site, however when the house is booked, she makes herself scarce.

I’m happy to spend time with my guests or give them space
Hi my name is Zinhle Gasa and I am your host. I am originally from the coastal province of KwaZulu-Natal Natal, in the city of Durban, but I now live in the golden province of Gauteng, in the city of Johannesburg in South Africa. My passion is people, yes I said it, people. I am at my best when I am around people, whether hosting, socializing or anything, as long as there are people, I'm happy. I love interacting with people from all walks of life and I just love creating lasting relations. Family, travelling, food, hosting, music and socializing are my other passion; and Airbnb has opened a whole new world for me and it is just too exciting. I hope that we will get an opportunity to get more acquainted with each other when we will be hosting you at Thabela House soon. I try to live my life by the following motto: "Live the Life you Love" and wow Airbnb has certainly helped me to do just that.
