Mountain and valley views

Soak up the views during your stay.
Our beautiful period property is tucked away within a working farm on the edge of Steyning. From the property there are 360 degree views of the South Downs and direct access to The Downslink bridleway and cycle track. Lovingly renovated over the last 14 years, the house offers a perfect retreat in the countryside, only 15mins from the coast and 20mins from Brighton. Steyning is within walking distance across the fields or a short 5min drive. Accommodation is flexible according to your needs.

The space
The property is a large house with an abundance of period features, two open fireplaces and fully renovated to a high standard. The house sits within a quarter of an acre with many features to entertain young or old. There are stunning views over the Southdowns with incredible sunsets. Tree swings, a climbing frame, a sunken trampoline, play tunnel and an outdoor swimming pool (Available only until End September 2022 - plans to convert to a natural swimming Pond winter 2022). You can feed our chickens, collect the eggs and depending on the season, even pick your own vegetables/flowers. Charcoal BBQ’s available to use.

The house is fully connected to Wi-Fi and Sky TV.

Guest access
Full access to the house and garden. Ample parking for several cars. Use of charcoal barbecue and firewood from log-store. We have also installed an EV charging point for use on request (for a small fee).

Other things to note
The property is on a working farm which is fantastic for being close to all the animals. It is important however to follow basic countryside rules, keeping dogs on lead and supervising children when leaving/entering the property. The garden and property are safely fenced and gated.

Activities:
We are very happy to help you arrange any activities you’d like to try during your stay, be it horse riding on The Downs, Wine tasting, paint balling among other activities.

Neighborhood highlights

The historic town of Steyning is a five minute drive away with many independent shops, cafes and pubs. All your needs can be catered for within Steyning. There’s also a large Tesco, M&S and Next within 15mins drive at The Holmbush centre.

The property sits on The Downslink which is a recognised cycle route following the Old railway line from Guildford to Shoreham-by-Sea. This is perfect for walking, mountain biking or running. The property also has a specifically designed mud room, with wet room downstairs for those who like to get really mucky!

The Southdowns Way is easily accessed within a 30min walk from the property, which directly faces Chanctonbury Ring, a notable landmark along the way.

The beachside towns of Lancing and Shoreham-by-Sea, popular with sailors, kite surfers and kayakers are only 10-15 mins drive away. The larger city of Brighton and Hove is a 20min drive away.

Places to eat:
Steyning has a number of lovely cafes with great selections of eats.

For evenings we have a number of pubs, The White Horse brasserie for a more formal meal, Mama Mia Italian restaurant and The Sussex Produce Company who serve delicious meals throughout the day and evening. ‘Chris the fish’ also offers Fish and chips on certain nights. In nearby Bramber, The Maharajah curry house is fantastic and also offer take away (which you’ll have to pick up). Bramber also has a good Chinese restaurant and The Old Tollgate Hotel who do a killer Carvery on a Sunday! In the other direction, Storrington has a very good Thai restaurant called 13. For a very special meal, just north of Cowfold (20mins drive) we have South Lodge who offer beautiful afternoon tea, have a lovely restaurant and within the Lodge have Michelin starred restaurant The Pass.

I am a Physiotherapist, Pilates instructor and Mum of two. I have a love of old buildings and have been passionate about renovating our period Home sympathetically over the last 6 years. Gardening is something I’m getting better at but never have enough time! When I get the chance, I love to take our dogs Truffle and Truleigh for a run or walk. We are blessed to have endless routes to explore.
