Above ground cabin at altitude with exceptional panoramic views of the Appalachians. Located on the edge of the woods on a land of 100 acres, you will experience unforgettable sunrises and sunsets. A wood-burning stove, a queen como bed, a sauna, a view, peace! If you are looking for a nature break in a minimalist way to reconnect in the present moment and inspire you, look no further!

The space
This cozy little cocoon is the perfect place to be inspired by the most beautiful nature in the area. Its tranquility, its proximity to the 3 peaks of Parc du Mont-Mégantic and the feeling of being alone in the world with the mountain range on the horizon make it a unique place!

At night, by a clear sky, it is possible to perceive the effect of starry "dome" outdoors. Indeed, moving forward on the side of the plain that extends in front of you, there is no visual obstacle and therefore the feeling is different from an experience in the forest. We seem like you've never seen so many stars in your life!

Located at the foot of Mont St-Joseph and therefore very close to the Parc du Mont-Mégantic Observatory, we welcome you to the heart of the first International Starry Sky Reserve!

The shelter has been designed and arranged for 2 adults.
A dining area with pub table and confo stools allow you to better appreciate the landscape. Also, a seating area with armchairs in front of the wood stove to enjoy your stay for two.

We have added a set of high quality pots and stoves to improve the gastronomic experience. A small fridge (with freezer) and propane rounds are added to the new kitchenette, a luxury in "off-grid" experience!

After a lovely hike, enjoy the outdoor hot shower with views over the Appalachians! (see photos)
*Please note: the hot outdoor shower is not available during the cold season (about mid-October to mid-May), but you will have access to a superb hot indoor shower, near your winter parking lot.

*NEW! Sauna area: A barrel sauna with a beautiful window (see photos) is set up to have a view of the Appalachians.

Our intention in creating this place was to be able to offer you a small haven of peace off the ground, but in a certain comfort. The addition of the sauna is the culmination of a vision: Allow people to be able to access a soothing and inspiring place, a little disconnected from the world... an immersion in nature to be able to better calm the mind and recharge its energy. In short, over the years we have improved the place to allow you to enjoy the place no matter the temperature. Hope you enjoy your experience!

Massage therapy NOTES:

Julie is a certified massage therapist since 2012 (1000 hours of training) If you want an appointment during your stay, mention it when you book.

Cell: Note that you do not have wi-fi, but that the LTE+ cellular network fits very well from the refuge. We have installed a USB socket powered by our solar panel. It will be used to charge your appliances. A small luxury very useful for planning your hikes online, join us in case of emergency and especially take photos as desired!

Guest access
You will have private access to the refuge and immediate grounds, as well as the outdoor shower and eco-friendly dry toilet. You can walk, snowshoe or cross-country ski on the land and in the woods, and this, in respect of nature. (walks in ski doo and 4 wheels are not allowed. Be careful to respect signs indicating private areas)

Sauna area - private access: A barrel sauna with beautiful windows (see photos) is located close to the refuge and you have a view of the Appalachians.

A hot indoor shower is accessible near your winter parking. This shower will be accessible from mid-October to about mid-May or as long as the temperature is below zero.

*Attention: The portion near the Park road, our gardens, ponds and other buildings are prohibited from accessing.

Other things to note
Our refuge is energy self-sufficient. Solar panel and propane power the whole thing. You have enough water for normal use during your stay.

You have a fully equipped kitchenette with small refrigerator (and freezer), 2 propane rounds. The big luxury in off-grid experience!

You have an outdoor BBQ for grilling.

Cold season (mid-October to mid-May approximately): you have a faucet system with automatic pump at the sink. It is connected to a jug of drinking water. The indoor winter shower is close to your parking lot and accessible with the same code as the shelter.

Warm season (mid-May to mid-October approximately): you have a water system fed by a rainwater reserve that supplies the system with 2 taps (one that filters and purifies the water on demand so that it is drinkable and the other provides the non-potable water to do your dishes for example). You also have the outdoor open-air shower with views of the mountains (hot water).

You have a private eco-friendly dry toilet outside the shelter.

Marc and I began our life as a couple with a year-long backpacking trip in Latin America crisscrossing small villages and inspiring places away from the cities. This is when we became aware of our desire to return to the earth and imagined our life in the countryside in an inspiring place where it's good to live and to be able to take the lead! Now we want to share this place and this refreshing experience with you. We are at a place where the view of the Appalachians and the 3 peaks of the Parc du Mont-Mégantic is really impressive! Not to mention that as we are really in the heart of the first starry sky reserve, as we are at the foot of Mont St-Joseph (Observatoire)
