Here’s what to expect:
No TV:
Although the loft doesn’t have an indoor TV, you can still enjoy your favorite media inside (on your own tablet or phone) as the WiFi extends throughout the loft
No Refrigerator:
A spacious cooler is available in the outdoor kitchen—just bring your own ice. Plus, San Diego’s vibrant restaurant scene offers endless dining options if you’d rather eat out (see our San Diego Guidebook under our profile pic for suggestions). Many of our guests also love the convenience of Uber Eats or DoorDash for a cozy meal in!
Covered Outdoor Kitchen
Includes a sink, bar stools, ample counter space & cooler for food storage (bring ice, as there’s no refrigerator)
Composting Toilet
Private, enclosed bathroom (fan ventilated) with a composting toilet. Located directly across from the Loft, in a separate structure
Solar powered, this loft is also designed with comfort in mind. The propane tankless water heater provides unlimited hot water for both the tub and shower, while a mini-split A/C and heating unit provide full temperature control for a perfectly cozy stay
Two 110-volt outlets are available for essentials like a laptop, cellphone charger, or curling iron and the computer desk includes one USB port and two USB-C charging ports for your convenience
Privacy Assurance:
All areas described here are exclusively for your use, ensuring a private, unshared experience without other guests or hosts
Security cameras:
For check-in purposes only, security cameras are located at the main driveway gate entrance to help ensure compliance with our house rules: a maximum of 2 adult guests, no visitors, and no animals - violations will result in a canceled reservation without a refund. There are absolutely no cameras inside the Loft or in its private outdoor areas
Parking + Getting to the Loft:
Only one parking space is available within the gated property (Parking info will be sent with check-in instructions)
**The Loft is located ¼ mile down a hilly gravel road, please be aware these are the instructions, based on your vehicle type**:
Standard 2WD vehicle: (without 4 Wheel Drive)
Please park in your assigned space at the top of the canyon and use our provided golf cart to reach the Loft. Do not attempt to drive a 2WD down; if a vehicle gets stuck, towing/recovery is at the guest’s expense
About the golf cart:
Easy to operate (instructions provided), great for luggage, and handles the gravel road safely
4WD: (4 Wheel Drive)
You may drive down the gravel road and park beside the tiny home. You may also choose to park at the top and use the golf cart if you wish
Walking:
Due to the 1/4 mile long and hilly gravel road—we recommend the cart, especially with bags. Questions before booking? Just ask—we’re happy to help
Can’t find your dates or need a second space? We host additional listings on the same gated estate - each with big views and their own unique and private amenities. Check our host profile or message us and we’ll help you coordinate

Firewood - $8 per bundle
Each bundle of firewood burns for ∼2 hours (includes a convenient fire-starter “cupcake” to make lighting your fire quick and easy). To have wood ready when you arrive, please let us know in advance how many bundles you’d like
Cinema Date-Night Package – $60:
Enjoy a magical movie night under the stars with a cozy outdoor setup. Use of plush hooded Snuggies (2), firewood + starter (2 bundles) and popcorn + sweet treat. Projector & screen use come with all stays—this adds the cozy comforts
Special Occasion Setup — $60
Preorder & prepay for flowers, desserts, or other celebration items from your choice of a local florist or bakery within 10 miles. Once your order is paid in full, we’ll pick it up and beautifully stage everything before your arrival. (The fee covers pickup, travel, and setup — it does not include the cost of your order)
S'mores Package – $45: Includes 2 bundles of firewood, a fire starter, and all the essentials for making s’mores—great for a cozy night by the fire!
BBQ Bundle – $25: A grill-ready package that includes use of charcoal, lighter fluid and aluminum foil for an easy cookout experience
(Grill use/BBQ tools are included with every stay - this adds the extras)
Cold Plunge Package – $10
Take your soak to the next level with an invigorating cold plunge! This package includes 2- 5 lb buckets of ice delivered to your soaking tub, perfect for a refreshing reset or post-hike recovery. Add it to your stay for a quick and affordable wellness boost!
Guest access
You’ll have a reserved and signed parking space (details sent with check-in instructions). There is just 1 dedicated assigned parking spot within the gated area for the loft. This is strictly enforced since parking here is very limited. If you are arriving in separate cars, there is street parking outside the gate
All areas at "Quail Canyon" are private and not shared with hosts or any other guests. Loft, bathroom, shower area, kitchen area, soaking tub, bbq area are all part of the guests' private area
No parties/events are permitted. We live at this location as well, so we will be aware if additional guests/visitors arrive and they will be asked to leave
Please be respectful of the privacy of others. We enjoy the peaceful canyon property that we live on, and we hope you do too! We ask that you observe quiet times (10pm-8am) and be mindful that noise travels easily in the canyon
Other things to note
Charcoal & lighter fluid aren’t stocked.
If you’d like, we offer a BBQ Bundle (charcoal + lighter fluid + aluminum foil) for purchase—just message us to add it. Prefer to bring your own? Totally fine!
Hosts reside on the property as well, at the top of the hill. If you have any questions or need help with anything, please message us in the app, we are usually available
House Rules

Pets Not Permitted — No Exceptions
Pets are not allowed for safety and property reasons:
*Coyotes are active in the area, posing a significant danger to pets. They’ve been known to take animals—even when owners are nearby. Your unit is unfenced, and coyote sightings are common on the property
*We also maintain a small hobby farm, and care deeply for our animals. Unfamiliar animals can cause serious stress to our livestock, as they instinctively perceive them as predators. They deserve a calm, safe environment free from that fear
Two Adult Guests Max -No Visitors, No Children
This listing accommodates two adult guests, arriving in a single vehicle. Additional guests or visitors are not permitted and will be considered trespassing. Arriving with, accommodating or allowing more than the original two guests who checked-in will result in a cancelled reservation without a refund. Due to natural hazards on the property, this space is not appropriate for children
One Vehicle Per Stay
The property accommodates only one vehicle. Additional vehicles are not permitted
Candle, Glitter & Confetti-Free Property
For your safety and ours, candles are not permitted indoors or outdoors as well as glitter, confetti, or similar decorations. These materials are harmful to wildlife, create pollution, and are very difficult to clean
Smoke-Free Indoors
Smoking or vaping is not allowed inside the cabin. Absolutely no drugs or substances prohibited by law are allowed
Quiet Hours are from 10PM – 8AM
Cleanliness & Respect for the Space
Wash any used dishes and put them away, and be sure no trash is left outside or on the patio
Fireworks are prohibited
This includes sparklers and poppers. Fireworks on residential properties are illegal in San Diego County and pose a serious wildfire risk
