Welcome to Paws N’ Flip Flops! This is our second home, and we love to spend time here with our two rescue dogs. We decided to open our home to guests (and their dogs) who like a cozy, single level home nestled in a quiet neighborhood with little traffic.
We are just a 10 min walk from the beach (over a scenic walkway) or a 3 min walk to the Intra-Costal Waterway and an easy drive to great restaurants and shopping.
The space
After a day of exploring all that Oak Island has to offer, shower off the sand in our outside hot/cold shower and relax in our fully enclosed back yard with a 6-foot privacy fence. If you bring your dogs, they will appreciate the shady backyard and the visiting squirrels. Hang out in the hammock or have a glass of your favorite beverage in our screened in patio. You can even stream your playlist on our outdoor blue tooth speaker. (Please remember that this is a quiet neighborhood). Our white picnic table is the perfect place for you to enjoy what the cook serves up on the gas BBQ.
Our 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom home was built in 2018 and is mostly carpet-free (luxury vinyl plank floors)
Living area
The vaulted and open living area has a comfortable 3-seater sofa, an oversized love seat and an electric fireplace. A comfy chair with a foot stool in the corner can be used as a reading nook or pulled over as additional seating around the TV. Entertainment is at your fingertips with fast WI-Fi, a blue tooth speaker, a 55-inch Roku TV with SPECTRUM live TV, board/card games and books for your use.
Kitchen
Our well-equipped kitchen invites you to prepare great meals or snacks for the family. Microwave, glass top stove, electric oven with convection bake option, freezer, fridge, Nutri-Bullet blender, Keurig Duo with drip option and K-Cups, a crock-pot and steamer pot - plus other pots, pans, baking utensils as well as ample glassware, silverware and dishes makes entertaining easy. And the super quiet dishwasher will help with the cleanup. (Basic cleaning supplies such as dishwasher tab, dish soap, sponge will be provided upon arrival)
Laundry closet
The laundry closet has a large top load washer and front load dryer. You will find throw blankets for your convenience as well as some blankets, towels, and other items for your dogs. We will also provide some basic cleaning supplies and laundry tabs for your use.
Bedrooms
Our home has 3 bedrooms, each with its own 40 inch Roku TV with SPECTRUM live TV. Bedroom 1 is the primary bedroom and has a queen bed, super comfortable memory foam mattress, 6 drawer dresser, and night stands with table lamps, USB ports to charge your devices and an alarm clock. The en-suite bathroom boasts dual vanities and a shower/tub. (a first Aid kit can be found under the sink). Leading off the bathroom is a very large walk-in closet with space galore. A duvet is supplied for cooler days.
Guest Bedroom 2 has a queen bed with a memory foam mattress, 6-drawer dresser, night stands with table lamps and USB ports to charge your devices as well as an alarm clock. A walk-in closet has plenty of space for storage. A duvet is provided for your use if needed.
Guest Bedroom 3 has a queen bed also with a memory foam mattress, 6-drawer dresser, and nightstands with table lamps, USB ports and alarm clock. A Duvet is provided for cooler nights.
Guest Bathrooms
Guest Bedroom 2 and 3 share a bathroom with single vanity and a shower/tub. A linen closet with beach towels for your use is also in the bathroom.
Shed, Patios and Yard
The outside shed has 6 beach chairs and two beach umbrellas waiting for you, as well as a beach wagon to transport all your toys for the beach. Our patio furniture in the back provides comfy seating for four and the small ottomans can be used as additional seating for two.
The brown patio storage boxes store the cushions for the furniture in the screened patio and we ask that upon checking out you put them back in the boxes. We do have a motion sensor flood light on the left side of the back as well as a battery-operated motion sensor light behind the shed and next to the fence gate on the left side. The patio light next to the side door has a motion sensor light bulb and the flood light in the font is also triggered by motion. Upon checking out please lock the gates from the inside.
For our canine guests
Oak Island is known for being dog friendly and allowing dogs on the beach year-round. Please make sure to familiarize yourself with the leash rules in general as well as the leash rules for the beach as they change during the season. Dogs (and their humans) are not allowed on the dunes at any time.
Dogs need to be leashed on the driveway/front yard and when leaving our property. Do not leave your dogs unattended in our backyard, the screened in patio or the shed at any time.
As we are dog lovers ourselves, we decided to open our home for max 3 dogs at a time. However, due to the size of our home, we limit it to max 2 dogs at 80+lbs. All dogs need to be up to date on vaccinations and flea/tick prevention. Please bring your own crates if your dogs are used to being crated. If you allow your pet on the furniture, we ask that you cover the furniture with blankets or sheets. (We provide some, but feel free to bring your own)
Except for a small area rug next to the couches our home is carpet free. We do have some small, lightweight mats and runners in case your dog needs extra traction on the LVP floor. We do provide two medium/large dog beds, place mats, blankets and sheets as well as towels to dry your dog in case you forgot to bring your own. We also have two plastic gates and a wooden gate in the shed in case you want to confine your dog to a room. In the shed you will also find a doggy box with other essentials such as dog bowls, etc. in case you left those behind.
We know “poop happens”. Behind the shed you will find a dog station with a poop bag dispenser and poop waste container. We ask that you pick up after your pooch and drop it in the container. Upon check out please deposit the poop can garbage bag into the normal garbage container.
Our driveway can accommodate 3 sedan/normal size SUV/s and max. 2 medium size trucks. If you are panning to rent a golf cart during our stay, please contact us so we can provide more useful information.
Guest access
Guests will have access to the entire home except for an owner’s closet.
Other things to note
We provide a few essential amenities to get you started on your vacation, including a couple rolls of bathroom tissue, paper towels, hand soap, dish washing soap, a couple laundry pods & dishwasher tabs, as well as some extra trash bags. You'll want to bring more for use throughout your vacation.
Your linens will be delivered in wrapped and labeled packages just prior to your arrival by a professional linen service company, and include sheets for all beds, bath towels, hand towels and wash cloths for each individual, kitchen towels and dish cloths, as well as bath mats. The house will have pillows, blankets and quilts. You'll want to be sure to bring beach towels!
We are dog friendly with a limit of 3 dogs (max.2 dogs over 80lbs). The pet fee is $125 PER PET. If you are bringing a pet, please let us know. We will send a request for the pet fee separately from your reservation.
Our Home is perfect for small families, girls or guys weekends, or couple getaways. It is just not for smoking, loud parties and inconsiderate people. If you are prone to either, please don’t make a reservation.
