A 4 bedroom Grade II Listed cottage located in a small rural hamlet in the Essex countryside, perfect for relaxing with family and friends. This home has plenty of character with exposed beams throughout and a large fireplace, perfect for those colder winter nights. Outside, there is a large garden and a paved terrace making this the perfect space for summer evenings. Make the most of the local walking and bike routes with picturesque views or take a drive to visit one of the local villages.

The space
This cottage is set in the Essex countryside, just outside of the nearby village of Great Bardfield and sleeps a total of 8 guests. Inside you will find a cosy living area, a modern kitchen, dining room and a shower room. There is a concealed stairway off of the living area which leads to a double bedroom along with a small dressing area. The main staircase leads up to the master bedroom complete with en-suite, 2 double bedrooms and a family bathroom that is complete with a freestanding bath. The cottage keeps many traditional features with a modern twist. Please be aware that this includes low ceilings in some rooms of the property. The master bedroom has vaulted ceilings as well as a large floor to ceiling triangular window with uninterrupted views across the open countryside. The kitchen features a large central island and a cream coloured Aga along with integrated twin ovens and an electric hob. Please note that the Aga is for aesthetics only.

Guest access
Guests will have full access to the property which includes extensive private parking. They will also have full access to the garden which includes an outdoor dining area and a hot tub. We regret single sex groups and parties of any kind are not prohibited at Old Cottage.

We are based next to Essex's leading equestrian centre, Frenches Farm. Stables and arena hire are available to guests during your stay. Please contact us for more information.

The nearest village of Great Bardfield is a short 5 minute drive away where you will find 2 pubs, a tearoom and a Co-Op. An 8 minute drive will take you to the village of Finchingfield, known as the most pictured village in England and a hotspot for cyclists. Old Cottage is a 12 minute drive from Great Dunmow, a 20 minute drive from Stansted Airport, and 20 minutes from Braintree where there is a train station with regular trains to London Liverpool Street.
