Why we love this house

Authentic masonry with lovingly selected details inside. Numerous visits to antique and flea markets have created a cozy and sociable atmosphere in our wine press house, which is over 130 years old.
Pure nature around the house, game grazing on our meadow, dogs romping around the house, children exploring nature and having endless space for sports activities.

The space
120 m2 on two floors, including a very large kitchen-living room with long table, an old parlor with tiled stove and sofa bed, the former smoke kitchen with storage, the wine cellar with washing machine, shower and toilet on the ground floor.
Two bedrooms with a bathroom on the first floor, a large shaded north terrace behind the house.
In front of the house the south terrace with seating and views of Lake Balaton, around the house garden with fruit trees and berry bushes, the west terrace where we enjoy the sun in the transitional seasons and the sunsets. A pool to refresh and splash right behind the house (open from June-September).
The property is not fenced. Due to the open basement and the old walls, our thatched Nyuszifülház is also a biotope for eight-legged insects. Despite regular cleaning, one or the other cobwebs can unfortunately not be avoided! :)

On the southern slope of the Halomhegy, surrounded by the vineyard overlooking Lake Balaton, between the villages of Mencshely and Dörgicse.
The next major cities of Balatonfüred, Veszprém and Tapolca are 25 to 36 km away.
The lake to Balatonakali is a 10-minute drive away.


This house is suitable for

families, couples and friends.
The house is not barrier-free and does not have baby equipment.
In our rustic house you will find mainly old stone floors and laminate. The stairs to the upper floor do not have a handrail.

What you can do here

Slow down, rest, read, doze in the hammock and dangle your legs in the Hollywood swing and let your gaze wander. Hiking in the oak forests, picking mushrooms, cycling around or on Lake Balaton. Wine tastings directly at the numerous winemakers or enjoy culinary delights at the many delicious restaurants in Köveskál and the surrounding area.
Depending on the season, you can harvest blackberries, cherries, figs, quinces or walnuts in the garden and enjoy the fragrant lavender bushes.

Take the kids on trips to the lake cave in Tapolca, explore the Steinerne Meer or visit the huge basalt columns. Directly from the house, you can circle the former volcano on a geological hiking trail and enjoy the view from the “Kilátó.”
On a hike around Lake Kornyis, you can watch migratory birds or explore the Kálibecken on horseback.
You can also find culture and cuisine in Veszprém, Tihany and Balatonfüred.
