A place to disconnect

One guest called it the perfect place to unplug, praising the seclusion and desert surroundings
Kit Fox Cabin is an original 1956 desert home on four private acres with panoramic views across the Mojave Desert in Twentynine Palms, just 15 minutes from both Joshua Tree National Park entrances. Large windows frame the surrounding desert and fill the home with natural light. This one-bedroom, one-bath home sleeps up to four with a king bed and queen sleeper sofa. Enjoy a private outdoor shower, fire pit, dark desert skies, and no TV by design.

The space
Our goal for the cabin was to preserve what made it special. Rather than erase its history, we chose to keep and highlight the original structure, blending its character with modern comforts.

The original tongue-and-groove wood ceiling and wood-burning fireplace remain at the heart of the home, complemented by vintage furnishings, artwork, handcrafted pieces, and select antiques that are more than 100 years old.

The home features one private bedroom with a king bed and a queen sleeper sofa in the living room that comfortably accommodates two additional guests. The home includes one full bathroom, accessed through the bedroom.

This is our part time home, not just a rental, so we remove our clothing and private toiletries, have it cleaned and share it with our guests. We clean our kitchen, but we do not empty out our non-perishable food/dry foods/etc unless we have a longer term guest.

A fully equipped kitchen, indoor and outdoor dining, heating and air conditioning, high-speed WiFi, books, and games make it easy to settle in, whether you're staying for a weekend or an extended stay.

*Our fireplace is currently just for esthetics and is non operational, there is a beautiful fire pit outside with wood to use, please do not light any fire outdoors if there is wind.*

Guest access
Guests have the entire cabin and property to themselves during their stay. You’re welcome to enjoy the home, outdoor spaces, and walk the property while being mindful of the cacti, desert plants, and wildlife that call this place home.

There is a garage and storage container located inside the fenced area behind the cabin. These are locked, used for owner storage, and not available for guest use.

Other things to note
A detailed guest guide will be provided before your stay and is also available inside the cabin. It includes everything you need to know about the home, along with local recommendations, area information, and helpful tips to make your stay as comfortable as possible. If you have any questions before or during your visit, we're always happy to help.

When I am not hosting or staying as a guest on Airbnb, I am usually working as an ER Nurse or planning my next adventure. I grew up close to Yosemite and I have had a love for national parks ever since. I love all things food, culture, people, and travel. I am a sucker for anything historical.
