Perfect place for your anniversary, celebration, or friend getaway, especially if you also love the outdoors.

The peaceful log cabin + surrounding 36 private acres are in the prime location for hiking, fishing, bird watching, star gazing, and more! It is fully off-grid, with propane heating and solar electricity. It also has a deep water well, and indoor plumbing—including a hot shower—to provide all the modern comforts you appreciate while still being in a secluded natural environment.

The space
Bobcat Cabin is so named because of the beautiful feline caught on our trail cam shortly after installation.

The log cabin is a 396 square foot vacation rental that can fit up to 4 adults.

There is a queen bed in the downstairs, a full-sized bed in the loft (recommend only one person sleep in the loft, as the ceiling is low), and a convertible chaise-bed that can sleep one person. We also have a pack-n-play available by request.

There is a fully-stocked indoor kitchen with plates, bowls, cups, utensils, and the like, and a gas stove with an oven if you want to do your own cooking. There is also a charcoal grill and wood-burning fireplace outdoors. Finally, there is an outdoor picnic table for comfortable eating and food prep.

The porch is screened-in and has a cushioned bench. Perfect for morning coffees, watching the evening sun set over the far hills, and late-night conversations. At night, there is no light pollution and guests love the unlimited star-gazing.

The cabin sits on 36 acres of privately owned land that is surrounded on three sides by the Ottawa National Forest. We regularly see deer and other wildlife on our security cameras.

Note: The cabin is accessible up a short, steep gravel driveway off the highway. You can still hear traffic noise from the cabin, although you cannot see the cars and trucks driving by.

Guest access
Guests can explore the entire private property of 36 acres as well as the surrounding national forest.

Depending on the season, the property has edible abundance if you know where to look. Wild strawberries, apples, crab apples, service berries, and more.

Close access to ATV trails, hiking trails, mountain biking, fishing, and everything else you want to do as you explore Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Or if you don't want to leave the cabin, you can enjoy the outdoor fireplace, unlimited star-gazing, and charcoal grill.

Other things to note
Don't let the term "off-grid" worry you. This is not a primitive or rustic stay. We provide all linens, bedding and towels.

There is a working toilet. The shower, bathroom sink, and kitchen sink all have hot water. We only mention this because people ask. It is just like a regular place you can stay. The solar panels follow the sun, so they soak up a lot of energy most days. But on cloudy or rainy days, there is an automatic back-up generator that kicks on and charges the solar batteries, meaning there is no concern for losing power during your stay.

The kitchen is fully stocked with eating and cooking dishes & utensils, dish soap, and basic spices: salt and pepper.

The cabin is accessible up a steep gravel driveway off the highway. You can still hear traffic noise from the cabin, although you cannot see the cars and trucks driving by. If you book when there may be concern for snow, we highly recommend 4-wheel drive.
