Peace and quiet

Guests say this home is in a quiet area.
Cozy, rustic, well-outfitted 2-story tiny home on a 3-acre family farm with a blacksmith shop. The fenced property is surrounded by trees and includes open fields with a vineyard, orchard, outbuildings, and gardens. It is four blocks from the main street in Falls City, and a river and waterfall are within walking distance. The hosts and their two children live 150’ from the tiny house. Guests who book our “Forge a Knife” Experience (Vonhelmick Knife Co) receive a 15% discount on their stay.

The space
The first floor has a full kitchen-full bathroom-living space that opens onto a small covered porch and a large (20' x 21') deck. There is a fold-out sofa bed on the first floor. The 2nd floor has a queen sized bed and windows at each end of the room. The upstairs roof is pitched on two sides, but there is room to stand. Both floors are 13' x 17'. There are window AC units on both floors. There is a screened entry door and many screened windows for good cross ventilation. There is a small breakfast bar on the first floor, and a standard picnic table on the deck (with an umbrella). There is no carpeting, there is an area rug upstairs. There are two parking spaces for guest use.
The driveway is gravel. The parking area outside the tiny house is level. There are four (4) steps up to the deck, and another 4 steps up to the porch and entry onto the first floor. There are eleven (11) inside steps up to the second floor; the steps are narrow and somewhat steep.

Guest access
Guests may have access to other areas of the farm when accompanied by the host: to go on a nature walk, interact with pets, or play with toys (tree swings, sand box, zip line, 14’ trampoline).

Other things to note
We have one dog, three cats, three rabbits, and 28 chickens (the chickens are kept in a designated space). They are all outdoor pets, please keep them out of the tiny house.

Our kids, friends, dogs, and cats are free range on the property, so you will not have absolute privacy. We enjoy a relatively quiet farm lifestyle. The number of guests visiting the property, and the number of guest vehicles allowed on the property, is strictly limited.

Trees on the property include oak, maple, pine, cedar, redwood, alder, madrone, and dogwood.

Guests may bring up to two (2) dogs, well-behaved, and leashed at all times they are outside (they are not allowed to run free on the property). You must clean up after your dogs or you will be charged an extra fee. We do provide a dog bed and towels, as dogs are not allowed on the couch or bed. No cats please.

Guests are expected to tidy up and remove all food and belongings upon check-out.

Neighborhood highlights

Falls City is a very small, quiet town, with 2 restaurants (limited hours), and a small convenience store. There is no police or fire department. The nearest city is Dallas.

Falls City is a small town of population 900 at the end of a paved road. We are across the street from Fall City’s waterfall and the George Kitchin (Upper) Park.

We are walking distance to the town, everything is within a half mile- convenience store, parks, restaurants (The Boondocks & The Bread Board), bar (The Boondocks), post office, city hall, and schools.

Two city parks are within walking distance. The upper park is just across Seventh Street from us and has forested nature walking trails, huge mature trees, a playground, covered gazebo, picnic tables, grassy field area, restrooms, and baseball field (where you may exercise your dog off leash). The lower park is below the waterfall, just past the traffic bridge and at the first footbridge that takes you across the Little Luckiamute River. It has a playground, basketball court, picnic tables, waterfront public access, and beautiful big old trees.
