The space
Set on five peaceful acres in the cool uplands above Kona, our property sits beside the Kona Cloud Forest Sanctuary in one of Hawaiʻi Island’s most unique environments. At roughly 3,000 feet elevation, misty mornings, cooler temperatures and lush vegetation create a completely different experience from the sunny coastline below.
The main home is surrounded by tropical landscaping and looks directly into the forest, with tree-level views and lanais that make you feel immersed in the canopy. Native ʻōhiʻa trees, towering hapuʻu ferns and abundant birdlife surround the property, while four of the five acres remain largely untouched forest.
Two small private cottages elsewhere on the property are occupied by our property stewards, giving guests privacy while ensuring someone is nearby if needed.
Despite the secluded feeling, you’re still conveniently close to Kona. Mountain Thunder Coffee Plantation and the Makaʻula ʻOʻoma Trail are just down the road, with Kona town, beaches and the airport an easy drive downhill.
It’s a rare combination: cool mountain air, native Hawaiian forest and a peaceful sense of seclusion without being far from everything Kona has to offer.
Guest access
The entire main house and its surrounding outdoor spaces are exclusively yours during your stay. You’ll have private access to all bedrooms, bathrooms, living areas, kitchen, lanais, wellness amenities, and the yard immediately surrounding the home.
Covered guest parking is conveniently located just to the left of the garage. The garage itself is reserved for property storage and is not available for parking, but guests have access to the washer and dryer located inside.
The home is not shared with other guests or residents. Two small cottages are located elsewhere on the five-acre property and are occupied by our property stewards, but they are separate from the main house and its guest areas.
You’ll have plenty of privacy to relax, explore the immediate grounds, and enjoy the peaceful cloud forest setting throughout your stay.
Other things to note
We’re at roughly 3,000 feet elevation, where the cloud forest is cooler, wetter and more misty than the Kona coast. Mornings and evenings can get chilly, so bring a sweatshirt and warm socks.
You’re staying in a living rainforest, so expect occasional rain, mist, birds and all the natural sounds that come with it.
The tradeoff is pretty special: cool mountain air and peaceful forest surroundings, while still being about 15 minutes from the airport and Kona.
