Welcome to your (earthen) home away from home!
This earthen home was constructed by Mr. Bill Adams, a direct descendent of Pres. John Adams and a veteran who served in the Allied occupation of Japan following WWII. Going further back, this was one of the first areas to be settled. It was part of the "Sims Settlement" and was defended during the War of 1812 by James and William Slaughter. Settlers farmed the fertile land near Indian Creek, now called the Indian Creek Greenway - 4 mins away.
The space
Explore the Rocket City, starting from underground! The Earth House is a truly unique experience in the heart of Huntsville-Madison. It's the perfect getaway with friends or family and accommodates business travelers well. Our guests never want to leave this cozy, quiet hideaway. Walk across the grassy roof and dream under sparkling ceilings!

LIVING SPACES
Grab a blanket and get cozy on the mid-century modern tufted sofa with fluffy soft throw pillows. The matching décor, luxury vinyl plank floors, vintage rugs, real wood paneling, and vintage pieces envelopes you and your guests in comfort and nostalgia.
When you're ready for entertainment, pop some popcorn and launch Netflix or log into your Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, or any one of the other streaming apps on the 43" 4K Smart TV. There are plenty of outlets to charge all devices as well.
If you'd like to unplug, play one of the many board games or pick up a deck of cards. We have a game for everybody stored in the credenza.
WORKSPACE
There's a large laptop-friendly desk in one corner of the living room, complete with a task light and outlets to plug in your devices. The office chair is comfortable as well. We have fast fiber internet!
ACCOMODATIONS AND BATHROOM
There are 2 bedrooms with 1 bathroom centrally located between the 2 bedrooms. Both bedrooms have full size beds (about 53″ x 74.5″), dressed in 100% cotton sheets and bedding with comfortable memory foam pillows.
The full bathroom features a shower bath with a double shower head, toilet, and an oversized single sink/vanity. We provide shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toilet paper, hair dryer, and bath linens to complete your stay.
EXTRA CLOSET SPACE
You will find a small linen closet in the hallway near the bathroom. There, you will find extra blankets, towels, and washcloths.
A coat closet is between the living room and kitchen where you will find cleaning supplies, a step stool, and a broom. There are hangers in the closet for extra hanging storage as well.
COOKING AND DINING
The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to cook a meal. There are two extendable countertops on both sides of the range for extra prep space. There is a round table for 4 and a high chair.

LAUNDRY
There is a full-size washer and dryer in the pantry/laundry closet off the kitchen. We provide All Free Clear Mighty Pacs, stain remover, and dryer sheets for your use. An iron and compact ironing board is also provided.
OUTDOOR SPACES
There is plenty of private, off-street parking. You can pull straight up the driveway and park right in front of the sidewalk to the front door if you'd like. This makes it easy to unpack your vehicle.
The home is situated towards the end of a cul-de-sac so there is no thru traffic. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. You can sit outside on the covered patio and watch the fireflies light up the summer night or listen to the owls hooting from the trees.
There is a secondary patio on the side of the garage with a glider and potted Key Lime trees (seasonal). There are Elm, Tulip Poplar, Sweetgum, Black Cherry, Profusion Crabapple, and Pine trees for shade. The house faces a large yard with a vegetable and herb garden, not the street. Feel free to pick from the garden, just remember to leave some for our next guests!
You can grill outside on our gas grill, complete with grilling accessories. There is also a teak dining table with comfortable patio seating.
There is ample outdoor lighting, with gas-like post lights on both ends of the home, wall sconces on both porch columns, and a wall sconce by the front door.

Our hosting journey started with the Earth House. It was featured in WAAY-31's "Alabama Original: You Slept Where?" series! During the pandemic, we transformed a derelict fishing cabin on 30 wooded acres in Beersheba Springs, TN. It’s now a cozy and private waterfront retreat.
