Cull Castle is a truly magical location that manages to both be rural and unplugged, without actually being that far from every modern amenity!

We are less than 5 miles off hwy 70, 10 mins from town of Portola, and less than 5 mins from Lake Davis.

Hosts Cris & Lynda live in the main house above and lovingly remodeled the 600+ sq ft walk-in basement in spring 2021. This welcoming guest apartment has been created to provide a comfortable, relaxing, and clean space, whether guests would like to unwind and relax in the pines and enjoy the quiet and serene of the property, or use it as a jumping point for the mountain (pun unintended) of other activities in Plumas County.

- Ideal for couples (plus one), trios of travelers (up to 4 guests), small families, work crews

- Bedroom with comfy queen bed and large in-suite bathroom with shower/tub

- Single bed in the living area; an alternate layout with a second single bed in the living area is available upon request + small additional charge (+$20)

- Roku smart TV connected to 'blazing fast' high speed fiber optic internet

- Dedicated work space with desk, external monitor/keyboard/mouse available upon request

- Private covered patio and a variety of walking paths and sitting areas around the 2 acre property, including to bordering Plumas National Forest/Crocker Mountain

Guests are free to park on the street - there is ample room. We recommend right in front of the stairs to make unpacking easier.

Unless instructed otherwise, do not park on the driveway/parking pad.

Other things to note
Guests must be comfortable navigating up and down outdoor deck stairs - apartment is below street level.


We recommend checking CalTrans QuickMap (online or app) for current road conditions and travel recommendations, especially in winter.

Please be aware we cannot make any exceptions to the refund policy for any weather-related events. We highly recommend travel insurance if this is a concern.

Neighborhood highlights

Crocker Mountain Estates was established around the same time as Lake Davis in the late 1960's... by host Lynda's grandparents! It is by lucky timing that we've returned to this hidden gem after 60 years of no formal connection. This quaint subdivision is set onto the side of the mountain, so every lot has a stunning view all around and is the perfect ratio of neighbors to forest. The neighborhood is technically within the Plumas National Forest and across the street from CA state game refuge, so many neighbors are wildlife. Only 1.5 miles from Lake Davis dam and less than 10 minutes to Portola/hwy 70.

My wife Lynda and I love California, and we love to travel using Airbnb ourselves! We moved to our dream home in Plumas county, CA with our 3 cats and bird in 2020 after living in San Diego for 10 and 5 years, respectively. Lynda is a Nor CA native, and I've has lived all over the US after immigrating from Chile in high school.
