Unique, tiny cottage, set back in a quiet, residential neighborhood only 2 mins from I-380 or 4 from Czech Village. Remodeled w/ an updated, cozy feel, while keeping wood floors from 1929, exposed chimney, & original cupboards. Loaded kitchen, FAST WI-FI, & plenty of room to work from "home." Smart tv, HE W/D, 30+ board games for your nights in, & a short uber or car ride to C.R.’s best hot spots, inc. Czech Village, NewBo and the downtown area.
The space
Loaded kitchen w/ full oven ft. a warming drawer, Keurig, traditional coffee pot, tea kettle, and convection/toaster oven.
Get a good night’s sleep on our brand-new, queen size Leesa bed, a made-in-the-USA product. The bedroom/sitting area features the smart tv (FireTV) that is on a swivel so that you can face it whichever direction you choose. Bring a game system to hook up to it and play from either area of the room. Charging station for your electronics next to you on the bedstand, diffuser and oils in the bedstand drawer, and new release books and magazines all for you to feel the comforts of home when staying in our cottage. Extra throw blankets are in the room for our guests, as well.
Check out the bluetooth fan/nightlight in the bathroom that has built-in speakers to hook your music up to as you enjoy your time to yourself getting ready for whatever your day might bring in the beautiful, new bathroom. We provide all-natural shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hand soaps, so no need to pack those items if you'd like to try ours! Forgot something? Take a peek at our extra supplies located on the built-in shelving in the bathroom. We want you to enjoy your stay with us, no matter what you accidentally left at home!
Enjoy playing a board game from our large selection, a few hands of cards, put together a puzzle, read a good book or flip through a magazine in the winter. For those board games and puzzles, #protip: Move the high-top, butcher block counters together to make a table where you are able to sit across from your opponent, but remember....it's just a game!
Need a large workspace to complement our ultra-fast WIFI, use the tip above to move the tables together to make one, large, desk!
All natural cleaning products, laundry detergent, dish soap and shampoo/conditioner/body wash/hand soaps used throughout. This is a chemical-free home.

Neighborhood highlights
Our tiny home is tucked away in a residential neighborhood on a quiet street.
For those traveling into Cedar Rapids, it is important to note that we did have a Derecho (an inland hurricane) hit our city last August and many homes in the neighborhood are still awaiting their turn to be repaired from the storm. You will see some local homes with plywood on their windows (the little home across the street still has one window like this), tarps on parts of the roofs, siding ripped off, etc. While it looks rough, it is part of our city's story. However, we Cedar Rapidians are super thankful for all of the help that has come from around the country as we put our city back together. Like the iconic Flood of 2008, we will prevail. #CedarRapidsStrong

Born in the 80s
My work: Former teacher/coach/landlord and now 100% airbnb host/landlord enthusiast!
I am a newly-exited teacher & coach, but am now living my dream of being an Airbnb host! This new road allows me to be a more present mom to my 2 children (and 5 dogs)! Dropping them off at school and picking them up again in the afternoon has become my new priority, something I never could do before. :)
Previously while teaching, I also dove into finding homes with character and helping to make them cozy homes for others to enjoy, making me a "landlord," as well. Remodeling has become a fun hobby for me and is in my blood. I eventually moved from remodeling-to-rent into remodeling a couple of small cottages to share with others as short-term-rentals when I found my first airbnb property, my Cozy Cottage. It is the most adorable, 388-sq-ft gem, but it sure wasn't at first. The process of peeling away the layers, restoring everything we could, and getting it ready for guests was exciting and to now hear how they have enjoyed it, as well, is the most gratifying. Reading the guest book first thing when I arrive after a check-out is my favorite part ever (thank you for those notes)!
I'm not a native Cedar Rapidian and enjoy traveling back home to the west coast (true Seattle girl and MAJOR Seahawk fan here), staying in Airbnbs with my family when we can. While doing so, I realized as I searched around Cedar Rapids that unique, cozy, Airbnb experiences are something that my current hometown lacks. I hope that I can bring that experience to travelers who come to visit us in Cedar Rapids, IA. If I could have 1 more Airbnb, I would have an old schoolhouse made into a cozy Airbnb. A girl can dream, right?! I just need some help finding that old schoolhouse. :)
Thank you for supporting my small business and I encourage you to check us out on social media to follow along on my latest projects!
