A place guests keep coming back to

Guests return year after year, with many calling it peaceful, comfortable, and unlike anywhere else
This private room and patio sit along the Clatskanie River, offering a peaceful retreat from city life and a quiet alternative to crowded coastal destinations. Though located downtown, the space feels secluded and surrounded by nature.

The setting is clean and comfortably rustic. Enjoy sheep grazing nearby or coffee on the front deck overlooking the water. Kayaks and paddle boards are available with 24 hours’ notice for a $20 rental fee and the sauna may be reserved for a $15 rental fee.

The space
The Hideaway Room features a king bed, TV, Wi-Fi, and a small kitchenette with a microwave, mini fridge, and basic dishes. The bathroom sink doubles as the kitchen sink, so please be mindful not to put food or scraps down the drain. A compost bin is provided for food scraps and coffee grounds.

The bathroom includes a clawfoot tub with indoor shower, and guests can also enjoy an outdoor shower during summer months. Robes are provided for your comfort.

This is a rustic space, and as part of life close to nature you may occasionally notice a spider web indoors, and webs on the porch are inevitable.

In the summer months, the grounds truly come alive and include a bamboo grove, manicured grape vines, gardens, and pastured sheep. When you’re able to enjoy the outdoor spaces, it’s much more than just a cozy suite — it’s a small retreat in the heart of town.

Sustainability note
Sustainability is central to how we host. We thoughtfully maintain and repair items and avoid discarding functional furnishings or fixtures simply for cosmetic reasons. Some signs of normal wear are part of that commitment. We use organic cotton linens and care for them without bleach or harsh chemicals, so linens may show light staining over time while still being fully clean and freshly laundered.

We also use eco-friendly, scent-free cleaning products and ask guests to do the same. Only biodegradable, scent-free body and cleaning products are permitted.

Guest access
Please review the check-in guide before arriving. This is a self check-in stay, and the guide contains important arrival and access information. If you are arriving after dark and need assistance, please call before 9:00 pm, as we turn our phones off for the night.

There is a wood-fired hot tub in the garden, but it is not available for guest use, as it requires a full day of preparation and active tending to heat.

The sauna is located at the top of the stairs when you enter the house. Instructions for use are provided inside.

Guests can enjoy a fully enclosed private deck directly off the room, as well as a lovely outdoor shower.

Stairs are required to access the room.

Guests also have access to the front deck overlooking the river and the river docks.

The room shares walls with the rest of the house. It is generally quiet, but this is not a fully detached unit.

Private entrance.

During your stay
Our assistant manager lives in a separate private upstairs unit, and we live less than a half mile up the hill. Either our assistant or we are available if you need anything, while always respecting your privacy. The Hideaway Room itself is a very private space with its own private entrance.

Other things to note
Your reservation helps support our local food system and the farmers who make this place possible. We invite you to learn more about our work with the Clatskanie Farmer Collective, where we host festivals, hands-on classes, and farm-to-table dinners throughout the year. (You can find our website easily via a quick search.)

We also operate the Clatskanie Food Hub, our year-round local grocery store, open Thursday–Monday, where you’ll find products from our farm and many other regional producers. We highly recommend stopping in while you’re here.

Don't be alarmed that the suite is in the confines of a mini storage! We call it our downtown resort located at the Clatskanie Harbour! Make sure to view the check-in guide before arriving.
