The space
BPH is a uniquely crafted cottage that provides 1,225 square feet of comfort in an earthy-rustic interior setting for adult guests. The cottage is the perfect spot for couples and close friends looking to make lasting memories. To adhere to our county's licensing limitations, BPH is only available for up to 4 adults in a single reservation.
The open floor plan bathes the cottage in natural light that showcases blue pine woodwork craftsmanship, reclaimed wood cabinetry, soaring pine ceilings, and eclectic mix of boho and zen inspired decor. Since BPH is secluded, there are no blinds on the living room windows to allow guests unobstructed views of nature and wildlife surroundings. The bedrooms and meditation rooms, however, have privacy blinds.
The cozy space offers guests two bedrooms, one bath with a river rock shower floor, a dining table, a coffee/breakfast bar looking out into the woods, a large kitchen island, and a third bedroom that serves as the tranquility room for meditation and relaxation.
The cottage is equipped with a split air system for both heat and AC to keep guests comfortable in every season. Extra sources of heat from baseboard heaters and gas fireplace are operational in late fall to early summer. Outdoor propane fireplace in the gazebo and fire pit on the patio is a stable year-round, with exceptions to temporary county fire. Our permit does not allow for wood burning fires.
Outside, enjoy the sofa that wraps around a fire pit, BBQ on the gas grill, take a nap in the hammock, enjoy a glass of wine by the fireplace in the gazebo, chill in multiple seating areas to read and watch the deer and birds, delight in the whimsical wood-carved animals and sculptures that join you on the property, play a round of corn hole, or walk the 3-mile loop trail fronting BPH to take in the stunning views of the Sangre De Cristo Mountain range.
Strict cleaning protocols are in place. All towels and bedding are washed in hot water, high-touch surfaces (counters, light switches, door handles/knobs, faucets, remotes, etc.) are cleaned with disinfectants. From an added safety perspective, BPH does not do back-to back reservations to allow for ample cleaning and prep time for each guest’s stay.
Staying at BPH means experiencing mountain living and sharing the property with bears and mountain lions. Practicing wildlife safety is of the upmost importance. The hosts will help guests with rules and tips for avoiding or dealing with potential encounters and have active exterior trail cams around the property that can alert to dangerous wildlife presence that will be communicated to guests. Winter months can bring measurable snow and frigid temperatures. As such, good tires, AWD or 4WD vehicles, and appropriate winter attire is a must. Guests will also be in a high altitude location and are encouraged to drink lots of water to avoid or lessen any potential altitude sickness symptoms. Speaking of altitude, there are little quirks to deal with. Aerosol sprays can sometimes have slow streams or clog, chip bags can expand and pop, lighters can stop working, and baking instructions should be adjusted to altitude cooking since dough rises faster and the baking process takes longer. Due to the lower air pressure, the cottage’s split air system may produce a low hum and batteries and electrical appliances may have reduced performance. BPH has a gas stove, oven, and dryer to combat altitude performance issues with electrical appliances. Hosts can assist guests with tips on altitude living.
To make your getaway to BPH truly unforgettable, consider experience options to enhance your stay. Inquire with the host to learn more on in-cottage licensed massage therapy sessions and professional floral arrangements upon arrival for special occasions.
We are approved to legally operate the Blue Pine Haven STR in Custer County. We hold an active STR License #2021-8 and comply with all rules required by the permitting office.
