Arboris is a villa rustica designed and built by architect Haijun and his wife as their holiday home. Set in the shrubs of idyllic Mekong island Koh Dach, the villa is two storeys high, the first floor of modern concrete work and the second of hardwood. Traditional Khmer wood architecture was studied to enable the making of the upper floor which is purely structured of reclaimed wood. Looking to escape city life without the travel? The space
To facilitate the old style with convenience, modern plumbing and cooking functions were added in. The villa is of two bedrooms, two bathrooms, one kitchen/living room and a sizeable study with shutter windows and top-to-bottom glass.

We are a pair of expats having worked and now based in Phnom Penh.We are enthusiasts of country dwelling, having built and been in possession of Arboris The Villa Rustica on Koh Dach in the middle of the Mekong. This Mekong island villa first came up as an idea in 2019 to serve as our weekend home escaping the hustle of downtown Phnom Penh, however after it had been built and fully furnished in 2021 with the ornamentation of Sihanouk era furniture, it eventually became the regular residence of us and our two dogs, Tiechui (iron hammer) the chocolate Labrador and Tietou (iron head) the Bully, who had refused to go back to their city life ever since setting foot on the villa gardens!
