"Almost Amaris" was newly renovated March 2026!!
Some people ask us why we named the camp "Almost Amaris". Well the name Amaris means "promised by God" but please, don't be to quick to judge. We had the name picked out before we knew the meaning really..... So If you were at our camp gazing off the back porch you would have sites of beautiful luxurious private homes that belong to a high end gated community called "Amaris" .. it's the neighborhood that we almost belong too!
The space
A Labor of Love (and a bit of a Compromise!)
For years, my husband dreamed of having the perfect "hunting and fishing" setup. While he found his hunting camp in Mississippi a few years back, he was absolutely adamant that the fishing camp had to be right here on the island. There’s just something about the Grand Isle air and the way the fish bite that you can’t find anywhere else in Louisiana. We decided to share our little slice of paradise with others so that fellow anglers and beach-lovers can experience the island life just the way we do. Welcome to our favorite spot!
Built for the Catch
We know why you’re here—the water! That’s why we’ve set this camp up to be a home away from home. After a day on the island or out on the water, you’ll have plenty of dedicated boat parking and a full cleaning station to prep your haul.
The "Island Kitchen" Experience
The real magic happens in our outdoor kitchen. We’ve equipped it for whatever your stomach desires:
The Fryer & Grill: Perfect for that fresh catch of the day.
The Boiling Station: Large enough for a full spread of Louisiana shrimp, blue crab, or crawfish.
Whether you’re throwing a sunset boil or just searing some redfish, this outdoor space is built for making memories and some incredible meals.
We can’t wait to host you and we hope you love it and will come back again...
Guest access
You will have access to everything but the shed downstairs, master closet and the closet off the pantry. There's nothing to see in there anyway, just a bunch of dusty old gold and silver from Jean Laffites pirate ship.
....... Just kidding!!! but for real though.... if you look from the balcony towards the far end of the island you will see a large brick fort (fort Livingston). This is actually a fort built by Jean Laffites pirates back in 1840s . If you have access to a boat you can visit it. It's pretty neat, we went a few times.
..... and yes, Unfortunately, our boat is not of access... unless there's some gold or silver in exchange, of course.
