New in 2026: we are accepting one dog 🐕 per stay, weight limit of 45 pounds, non-shedding breeds only. (Based on the turnover window of 6 hours between guests, since we clean it ourselves, we don’t have enough time to do pet hair removal.) No pet fees, pet contract will be sent for signature after booking.

Guest access
You'll have access to the entire house (aside from 3 locked closets), yard, and a steep ramp to the shore which requires shoes and caution. The swimming cove can be accessed by walking south along the rocky shore.

Our garage, shed, and boat house are off limits for your safety and our privacy. The driveway has parking for 3 vehicles.

Other things to note
When booking, please provide the names of all adult guests. At least one past Airbnb stay with a positive rating is required, but send an inquiry if you don't have this and we will be happy to discuss whether our place is a good fit for your group.

This home is not suitable for young children due to multiple hazards, e.g, steep stairs, low windows, and nearby shoreline. Contact us to discuss.

We request and appreciate clear communication about your plans, your needs, and any issues that arise during your stay. This enables us to continue our track record of being awesome hosts!

Our cottage is located in an area of the state that has minimal resources. You'll be 40 minutes away from a large town (Ellsworth) with restaurants and grocery stores, 60 minutes from Bar Harbor / Mount Desert Island, and 75 minutes away from the nearest airport (Bangor). There are a few grocery stores, coffee shops and restaurants closer to the cottage (we provide a list of these) but not a wide selection.

IF BOOKING IN MAY, SEPTEMBER, OR OCTOBER: Note that restaurant availability is limited. Please contact host before booking if you have questions or concerns about this and we can provide you with information to assist with your decision. The upside? Fewer tourists, big views, and lots of quiet. Some businesses will wind down their days/hours of operation after Labor Day, but others remain open until mid-late October.

Neighborhood highlights

Gouldsboro Point is a small community of local residents (just a few other rentals like ours). We're not far from route 1 but a world away on this dead end road that runs parallel to Gouldsboro Bay. Please respect speed limits and take the time to say hi to neighbors - you just might learn about the best blueberry patch or spot to view eagles!

Hosting came as a surprise second career that I absolutely love, and it has given me a new appreciation for the folks that have hosted me and my husband Russ in our travels. We love to explore places off the beaten path, and we help our guests to do the same. Russ and I own and operate our rental properties, do our own cleaning and most of the maintenance - a full time job! For our guests, we provide an extensive digital guidebook, plus maps and books to help you plan adventures. See you soon!
