This Caribbean home is perfect for families with older children or small groups to experience a unique getaway, it was built to feel like you are living amongst the jungle paradise of Costa Rica’s lush Caribbean coastline!
This Caribbean-style open-air home was custom painted by a local indigenous Bribri artist, featuring all of the animals, insects, plants, and natural beauty of the tropics, ocean, and rainforest! As well as a few other artists' surprises!
The open-air, fully equipped kitchen & main dining area provide plenty of airflow for the tropical climate!
The 2nd story living room has sweeping views of the mountains of Talamanca, and the sounds of the Caribbean Sea in the distance make this home an experience of true Pura Vida!
Rise to a symphony of bird songs and howler monkeys as you sip Costa Rica’s rich coffee in classic Costa Rican-style rocking chairs taking in the fresh air, and end each day sipping a coconut with mint from the garden (and a splash of local rum if you like;) watching the sunset over the mountains! The house is designed in a Caribbean style with an open-air living room, kitchen, and dining room. The bathrooms and three bedrooms are closed in, and each has its own private locking door. The plunge pool with swim-up bar has its own covered entertainment area with an “under the sea” custom-painted theme! Complete with a bar and pool shower!
The property is full of coconuts, bananas, pineapples, and herbs (mint, lemongrass, oregano) to eat and cook with at your leisure!
The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to bake or cook and enjoy all the fresh flavors of the Caribbean! A coffee pot is provided to enjoy Costa Rica‘s fine coffee beans! As well as a cocktail mixing set to enjoy a delicious fresh fruit cocktail of your choice as you watch the sunset!
The area is full of lush jungle, birds, butterflies, flowers, and lots of cacao, the beans that make chocolate!
The main upstairs bathroom has a large walk-in waterfall shower with hot water and good pressure. Downstairs is a half bath bathroom. The pool shower was created and painted to simulate standing inside of a shell, the mermaid shower.
The home is on 1600 square meters of beautifully landscaped land at the end of a private road. Landscapers come by once weekly to maintain the lush landscape & pool.
The house is 500 meters from the ocean, but we recommend you take the beach road at Banana Azul Hotel (just a few minutes down the road) to access the beach, as this road is easier to walk, ride, or drive on! The long stretch of Playa Negra (a black sand beach) is gorgeous and usually has few people on it, so you have space to enjoy! It’s perfect for long walks, has great surfing waves and good spots to swim!

Other things to note
This Caribbean getaway home is wonderful for those who love to be immersed in the jungle but with modern amenities.
However it’s very important for you to know that this is an open air home except for the bedrooms & bathrooms. This means that in the common areas there are no walls or screens. All three bedrooms and bathrooms are completely enclosed with walls and closing doors as well as screened in windows.
in the open-air kitchen and living room, this means that you may see geckos and insects. However, keep in mind that keeping your kitchen tidy, dishes clean, trash in its proper bins, and bug repellent go a long way to keeping the insects out!
The house is a 35 minute bike ride (10 min drive)to the vibrant town of Puerto Viejo, full of restaurants, stores, markets, beaches and night life! While bike rides are fun here, a car is highly recommended and can be very useful as the roads are very dark at night! We 100% recommend renting a car while staying at our Caribbean dream home, but a bicycle rental is a wonderful option to have as well if you want to take a short cruise to the beach!
The property and house are a rustic concept, will make you feel like being a part of a Flinstones episode, do not expect luxurious amenities, we look forward to keep an original and true experience, railings in upper floor are made from tree branches, so plese keep an eye on children because of gaps
