The estate is in a protected natural reserve and offers a wide variety of activities suitable for all ages, including wonderful walks by the Thames path, cycling, swimming, tennis courts, football pitch, two kids play areas, paddle boarding, canoeing, sailing and fishing.
The space
My wife and I fell in love with the area and bought this lovely stone cottage as our second home. We hope you will enjoy the natural beauty of the surroundings and all that the Lower Mill Estate has to offer as much as we do.
Capacity:
While the cottage is equipped to host 8 people, I think the perfect group can comfortably accommodate up to 6 adults plus 2 children, or any similar combination.
Living Space:
Aston House features an open-plan living/dining space with a good-sized log burner within a brick fireplace, and French doors giving onto the decking area, a 50-inch Sony TV, for your entertainment. The dining table can comfortably seat up to eight people when extended.
Sure, eating at the finest restaurants can be fun, but sometimes we all need a nice home-cooked meal, right? That’s why our kitchen is fully stocked with all the essentials you’ll need to cook a nice meal for you and family or friends. Equipped kitchen with an induction hob, electric oven, full-size dishwasher, fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle and plenty of glassware, crockery and cutlery. You will also find a ground floor family toilet that houses a washing machine and tumble dryer.
Bedrooms
Master Bedroom 1:
The first master bedroom at Aston Cottage features a king-size bed and an on-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower. You can enjoy stunning views of the neighbouring Mill Somerford Lagoon through French doors over the lake. This room is perfect for a luxurious and relaxing stay.
Master Bedroom 2:
The second master bedroom at Aston Cottage also features a king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in rain shower. This room boasts views of the inner ponds through French doors just outside, adding to the relaxing atmosphere.
Bedroom 3:
Bedroom 3 is a comfortable double bedroom with a European size bed (140cm x 200cm), perfect for a restful night's sleep after a long day of activities.
Bedroom 4:
Bedroom 4 is ideal for children or young adults and features bunk beds with underbed storage. This cosy and comfortable room can accommodate up to two guests.
Family Bathroom:
Aston Cottage also has a spacious family bathroom with a large bath and separate power shower. This bathroom is perfect for a relaxing soak after a day of activities or for getting ready for a night out in the Cotswolds.
The property also has an additional shared under bed that can accommodate another child. Please discuss this with us before booking so we can explain exactly what it is and you can decide if it suits your needs. There will be no additional charge for the use of this bed. We want you to be as comfortable as possible during your stay.
Our cottage is south face so just in case the Sun is too hot at the decking area on the right hand side of the Cottage has a patio with pebble Cotswold's stone with a table seat 6 people and a chimney fireplace so you can enjoy and kids love to seat down around the fire preparing marshmallow.
Activities:
At Aston House, we love having families with children stay with us. With so many activities available on the estate and in the surrounding area, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Children will love exploring the 500-acre private nature reserve, and there are two kids' play areas on the estate for them to enjoy. The Mill Village heated outdoor shared pool and sauna is also a great place for children to have fun and make new friends. We provide access to a fabulous deck located right beside the infant River Thames, where children can play in the water and enjoy the sun.
In addition to the facilities already mentioned, there is also an activity hub next to the pool area where you can hire water sports and bike equipment. Kayaking is available just minutes from your front door, as well as the Cotswold Beach and water sports centre within a mile of the property. Fishing is also allowed on certain lakes, but you will be required to have the appropriate angler’s license to do so.
We want your family to have a memorable stay at Aston Cottage, and we strive to make it as comfortable and enjoyable as possible for everyone. Whether you are here for a family holiday or a gathering of friends, we are confident that you will have a wonderful time. Guest access
As our guest, you will have access to the whole house, the two Juliet balcony, decking outside to the rear of the property and patio to the right of the property.
You will also have access to 500 acres that make up the Lower Mill Estate (only accessible to owners on the estate and their holiday guests), as well lakes access from April till November. Guests have access to the Mill Village heated outdoor shared pool and sauna all year round, and there is a fabulous deck situated right beside the infant River Thames with a Weber BBQ, garden furniture, and sun loungers for you to relax on. Guests are also treated to a welcome gift and logs for the log burner depending on the time of year.
Other things to note
Pet-friendly:
Our cottage is pet-friendly, so you can bring your furry friend along to enjoy the beautiful countryside walks in the area. Please note that we kindly ask you not to allow your pet on any of the furniture and to bring an appropriate bed for your pet to use. We also ask that you use the outside tap situated to the side of the property to clean your pet before entering the house.

Aston House is the perfect base for exploring the picturesque Cotswolds area. The estate is in a protected natural reserve and offers a wide variety of activities suitable for all ages, including wonderful walks by the Thames path, cycling, swimming, tennis courts, football pitch, two kids play areas, paddle boarding, canoeing, sailing, and fishing. The Cotswold’s Country Park and Beach are within a 5-minute drive, and picturesque Cotswold’s villages such as Cirencester are within 15 minutes of the cottage.
Bourton-on-the-Water and Cheltenham is just 30 minute's drive away a love place to do half day visit.
