Monthly Rentals in Derreens

After an October week in a very old stone cottage, Ciara's warm, dry, modern accommodations were a welcome treat. Gorgeous water and mountain views were just a stroll away, with horses, donkeys, and sheep rolling over the hills, and dogs running along the neighboring yards. Decor included botanical and wildlife illustrations with short but informative descriptions of the native flora and fauna. A small wood stove was pre-loaded with a starter log, which came in handy when a gale force 9 storm decided to pay us a visit. Fresh local milk in the fridge, fast internet, a powerful, warm shower, and a nice, private fenced yard elevated this homey little spot from comfortable to pampered. I only wish we hadn't had to leave so early after our one night stopover. Extra credit is due for allowing us an early check in so my fiancé didn't have to leave her wedding dress in the car during her nail appointment. 10/10

We had an amazing stay at Michael's cottage! Ann was absolutely fantastic, she greeted us with a freshly baked cake and fresh eggs from her own hens and she made sure we always had enough turf and helped us light the fire during this particularly cold spell. The cottage is warm and cosy and perfect in every detail and it's so homely we found it extremely hard to get off the comfy couch by the fire and get out to explore the beautiful surroundings, the stunning views from our windows constantly tempting us! Thank you so much, we will definitely come back!

What a beautiful place. We loved the landscape, the nearby national park, and Achill island beaches. Friendly neighbors. It was also fun to see many sheep in the countryside. A great place. We experienced a wonderful view of the stars at night, even from the driveway, and I saw shooting stars.

I had such a lovely stay in the writers cabin! There is so much to do locally, with Westport town and the coast just a short drive away, and yet the cabin itself is extremely peaceful and quiet. Kitchen was fully equipped, which was important as I was cooking a lot, and the cabin was very warm and well heated (I stayed in December-January). Thanks for a brilliant writers retreat!
