This step-free home is located in a neighborhood of secondary houses with each their charm. Access to the sea, a few minutes away by walking slowly, is very nice. No problem parking, this is possible in front of the property. The roads deserve to be a little better maintained at the neighborhood level. If you want to go to the restaurant, find it in advance because once night falls, without knowing the premises on the 1st night, if you do not have an accurate address (exact number on the street concerned) it can be difficult. In any case, if we return, we will not inherit to rent this place again.

Gaetano was a wonderful host! He helped me a lot with public transport so I could visit Modica and Scicli, responded very quickly to messages, and was ready waiting for my arrival to the loft (thank you so much for being flexible and providing instructions on how to find the property!). The loft is beautiful, small but has everything you need, I felt right at home. Comfortable bed, great shower, everything is clean, kitchen has everything if you wish to cook. There's a few steps to climb to get to the new city and the old city, but so worth it. Bus to Marina (beach) is close to the loft. Quite a few abandoned houses around but felt very safe as a female solo traveler walking around after dark. For future guests - I would recommend to try the restaurant you can see from the terrace

Miriam was brilliant, and her dog was fun to have around. The house was very modern and tastefully appointed. The bed was very comfortable. The garden was peaceful and lovely. We can honestly say it was one of the best airbnb's we have stayed in. If you stay here, we recommend the pizzeria Candiano (pizzas only in the evening) - it is bustling at lunchtime - a self-service restaurant with cheap but excellent food. Try the patisserie too - delicious. The only minus point was the surroundings, which we found had been spoilt by plastic polytunnels. A pity. But if you see through that, it's a great base for exploring some of the beautiful scenery and beaches to the north in the Vendicari reserve area.

We felt very comfortable in the apartment. It is very nice, tastefully decorated, the terraces are great for morning and evening sun. The beds were very, very comfortable, including the pillows, but the sofa is only suitable for children who can sleep everywhere. Marina was always available, gave tips and promptly took care of the wifi. Opposite the apartment is directly a football field where the boys from the village play in the afternoon, our boys were directly integrated there. Portopalo beach is very narrow and small, but a few kilometers west is Isola delle Correnti beach, it is very nice. A really highly recommended restaurant is El Condor, also with children. In the low season, not all restaurants are open anymore, but it is enough and you can also cook in the apartment. Portopalo was not touristy, you get village life there, orange vendor in the street, a weekly market. Thanks Marina!
