Luxury Home Only Three Minutes from Riverwalk and the Pearl

KerrieRating, 5 stars1 month ago
A lovely home in an excellent location. Renovated with all the upgrades in a location you can't beat. Easy walking to the Pearl, CIA & the Riverwalk. This home is spacious, loads of amenities and some extra touches to make it special. Plenty of plugs with both standard and USB outlets. Easily understood labels on switch plates, appliances and the fabulous master shower. Literally steps from the Riverwalk and the Pearl, and yet SO quiet. Felt completely safe and enjoyed it immensely.

Superb Home 7 minutes from Lackland Air Force Base

JanetteRating, 5 stars3 months ago
We picked this home because of the proximity to the AFB where our daughter was graduating from BMT. We were able to stay here with our dog, we felt right at home, and our daughter loved relaxing there with us when she had a break and even said, "Mom, I'm so glad you rented this house, its really nice and cozy". The host was friendly and responsive, the home is clean, beautifully decorated, and in a nice neighborhood. We would absolutely stay here again if we are ever back in the area.

The Views are for Miles!

NancyRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
The View was awesome and John was very responsive to any contacts we made with him. We had minor issues that were quickly resolved by text messages to John. We would absolutely do this location/place again if we are in the area. We had a great place to take our daily walk in the neighborhood. The house was spacious and well equipped. Only thing that would have made it better would have been some means to have music played in the main living quarters downstairs. I highly recommend the place and the host. Nancy

Palomino Paradise w/ Private Pool & Pool Table

IanRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
if you're like us and need a pool, this is an amazing place!! very clean and just as pictured, grill worked without issue. Hosts are very responsive; when we ran out of propane for the grill, they gave us a new one only w few minutes later. this is Texas so nothing is doable without a car, but having said that, it's close to SeaWorld, the aquarium and close to downtown. we stayed here as part of our spring break, and I highly recommend it to you!

Hilltop Paradise! Valley View! King & Queen beds!

MichaelRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
10/10 would definitely recommend! The hosts were quick and so easy to talk with, and the home was just absolutely gorgeous. The inside and outside gave such a great and unique impression that screamed “Welcome to Texas”, and the beds were so clean and comfortable. There wasn’t a single issue, and my group was very satisfied with everything. The location is perfect if you’re trying to get to San Antonio or Austin, and Canyon Lake is not from the property. It was a little chilly during my visit, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying my favorite part of the home, which was the balcony. It was relaxing and so tranquil, and each level had its only balcony. When I’m back in this part of Texas again, I will MOST CERTAINLY book again without hesitation!

We were delighted to find the place immaculately clean and were thankful for the nice amenities like coffee and creamer and oil in the kitchen and sunscreen and shampoo in the bathroom. The bed was super cozy and the space was just perfect for my husband and me. We greatly enjoyed the stand up paddle boards on the lake on a lovely day. ❤️

The music connection outdoors was nice too! The infinity pool was very nice with an amazing view. The host was very responsive and made sure to accommodate us, we will definitely be back 😍

Your guide to Comal River

Welcome to Comal River

Nestled in Texas’s bucolic Hill Country, the wide, blue, spring-fed Comal River is nothing short of idyllic — short being the operative word here. Locals have dubbed the waterway “the longest shortest river in the world” because it flows for just 2.5 miles, entirely contained within the city limits of charming New Braunfels.

The Comal is best known as a tubing destination. Folks flock here with inflated inner tubes to enjoy a respite from the heat, as they float along in the cool water, stopping at sandbars to picnic or swim. While the nearby Guadalupe, another popular tubing spot, has a few rapids and attracts boisterous crowds, the Comal offers a leisurely experience.

If you are looking for thrills, the Comal does run by — and feed — a popular waterpark. But you don’t have to get in the water to enjoy this lovely little river, which is lined with tree-shaded parks, home to endangered species, and an excellent spot to fish, canoe, and kayak.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Comal River

The best season for tubing in Texas is summer, when temperatures sizzle. But the Comal River stays a refreshing 70 to 72 degrees Fahrenheit, year-round, making for comfortable swimming on almost any sunny day. With approximately 25 million visitors every summer, booking one of the area’s rentals can be more challenging during this season, and the atmosphere becomes particularly spirited on holiday weekends. Plan to visit on a weekday if you want something a bit calmer. If you’d rather canoe or kayak — or enjoy the river from shore — consider visiting in the off season, when the weather is still warm and the river, bereft of tubers, is serene.

Top things to do in Comal River

Landa Park

The headwaters of the Comal River are located in the 51-acre Landa Park, where you can picnic riverside under sprawling oak trees. The park also includes a small lake, an arboretum with more than 80 species of trees, tennis courts, a mini golf course as well as a full-size one, hiking trails, and a miniature train. Two neighboring parks, Prince Solms Park and Hinman Island Park, also border the river and have areas for swimming and fishing.

Dive the Comal River

Scuba diving offers a completely different perspective on the Comal. The visibility of the spring waters is excellent, revealing numerous species of shellfish and small fish, including the endangered Fountain Darter, a little reddish-brown fish found only in the Comal and nearby San Marcos springs systems. The quick drift dive only takes 15 to 30 minutes, and divers can rent gear from shops in town.

Tube the Comal River

Tubing is a serious pastime here. Most folks start downriver from Wurstfest Grounds (home to the annual all-things-German festival in November) and float down to the Last Tuber’s Exit. Bring your own tube, or rent from one of the local outfitters, who offer every variety necessary and also offer air conditioned bus rides back to your starting spot.
