Places to stay in Colombo

Great place to stay if you want to be immersed in local life and beautiful surroundings. Very peaceful. It was close to several eateries. I went into Colombo and there were two bus stops within walking distance. It took a bit over an hour to go to Colombo fort via bus or about a 35/45min tuk tuk ride. I didn't mind it being far away. It's very close to the airport. The accommodation is incredibly spacious and comfortable. I especially enjoyed the balcony where I would eat some of my meals.

Had the opportunity to spend the most relaxing and the most peaceful day at The Romance this weekend. The owner is so friendly and thoughtful. Everything was nicely arranged and spacious. We would definitely go back and 100% recommend this place to anyone who’s looking for relaxation surrounded by greenery.

I experienced a excellent stay at Sudam's place. Sudam was very helpful and friendly. The apartment was nice, clean, and well-maintained. It was equipped with every essential item, including a washing machine, refrigerator, gas cooker, TV, water dispenser, clothes rack, hair dryer. Everything was properly cleaned and well-maintained. I reached well past midnight and Sudam was there to welcome me to ensure my stay is comfortable. Sidam also allowed me to checkout a bit late as my flight was late at night, which was very helpful. This place is just walkable distance from Colombo-Kaduwela main road and Thalehene bus stop. I used public transport for most of my visits to Colombo, so it was very conformatable to me. A lot of restaurants and supermarkets are available just in walking distance. I would highly recommended for everyone looking for a comfortable stay in the Baththaramulla-Thalahena area.

Beautiful pristine apartment in a very good location. Pool area very quiet and a great place to relax. Excellent security, felt extremely safe. Overall we were extremely happy with the apartment and we have no issue about recommending this apartment.

Wonderful Stay in a Peaceful Villa We had a fantastic stay at this villa, located in a quiet town outside Colombo. Our host, Sam, was welcoming and easy to reach. The house manager, Dinesh, and his wife live on-site, and they truly made our stay special. Dinesh provided great tips, drove us around, and was incredibly kind and humble. His wife spoiled our kids with delicious traditional Sri Lankan lunch, which they absolutely loved. The villa is divided into multiple rentals, so the pool and outdoor areas are shared. The nearest town, Mattegoda, has supermarkets and local restaurants. The area sees few tourists, but the locals are warm and welcoming—we really enjoyed getting away from the crowds. Food is very affordable, and curry, rice, and noodle dishes are great choices. English is not widely spoken, but we managed. Colombo is about an hour away by tuk-tuk, with an easy bus option too. A wonderful stay—perfect for those wanting authentic Sri Lanka in a peaceful setting!

Beautiful place, breathtaking view and super super clean! Will definitely come back and would recommend to anyone who wants to unwind for a few days! Just one callout - it’s not a bathing beach so would keep that in mind if the intention is to bathe in the sea but if you just want to chill by and on the beach, this is the go to property!!!

We loved our time at this villa. Steps from the beach and lots of yummy restaurants. The beds were super comfy and the place was very clean. We would definitely stay there again!
