Amazing handcrafted cabin located in the center of the "Roanoke Triple Crown" (McAfee's Knob, tinker cliffs and dragons tooth trails) just minutes from each trail head. Cabin is tucked away from everything. No other houses can be seen from the cabin. The cabin overlooks a beautiful pond with a small waterfall cascading in. The cabin is aptly named—it is right by the New River. I suspect in summer, you’d be lucky to get this place, since it’d be excellent for river access. We got to chill out in mid-April, thanks both to cold weather & the peaceful, scenic surroundings. The cabin is charming & comfortable & just as pictured. We slept delightfully well in the queen beds. The kitchen has a wealth of dishes, cookware, utensils, etc., plus some spices & fridge items on hand. The dining area looks out on the mountains. Although we didn’t use them much because of the cold, there’s a front & a side porch with nice views. Everything was spotlessly clean, & Danielle was a gracious & responsive host. Note: there is no WiFi, but we managed using our phones as hot spots. Cell service was generally okay. The town of Independence is only about 10 minutes away, & it has a marvelous grocery store. We enjoyed delicious pizza at Ciro’s, & we’d recommend Powerhouse Falls for an outdoor adventure.

The cabin was great. A little cluttered with knickknacks and no real good place to put bags and luggage, but overall very cozy and comfortable. The views from the front porch are nice and relaxing and the little town of Meadows of Dan is nice. You are not very secluded because there are other cabins all around, but very quiet. Saw deer everyday, so it is peaceful. Good wine and restaurants not far away. Would definitely stay here again.

Our family came together here for Thanksgiving and had a wonderful stay. The home was comfortable, clean, decorated lovely, and well stocked. It was in a beautiful setting and we spent the evenings watching deer and the sunset from the porch. Emily and Taco were gracious hosts and we appreciate everything.

This cabin was very peaceful and serene. It is a perfect location to unwind from the busy and stressful life of the city. Plenty of trails to hike with creeks and water falls. The kitchen is well equipped for meal preparation. Plenty of board games and video games for kids. Two fire places, one inside and one outside to set the mood and gather around. Our host was nice and easy to communicate with, we will definitely come back again.

What an incredible, warm and comfortable cabin. It was the perfect base to explore local towns or just relax and stay in and enjoy the cabin experience! It’s so beautifully decorated. We wish we could have stayed longer. Gerald is an extremely thoughtful host and had great local suggestions. Highly recommend this little piece of heaven!!
