Mermaid Cottage - Adorable guest house

The Mermaid Cottage was very comfortable—nice bed, clean kitchen and bathroom, pleasant neighborhood, good outdoor seating. A great place to stay if you want to explore Beaufort without being right in town. We walked a lot and also drove down to Fort Macon State Park, close by. Would have gone to Shackleford Banks by boat too but our one full day there was too windy. Heidi and Doug are friendly hosts and they also give you plenty of space. They filled the cottage with snacks, coffee, wine (plus a treat for my husband’s birthday) and Heidi thoughtfully handed us a snack bag for our drive home! Doug and Heidi are great hosts and they have a very nice cottage. BTW, it is behind their house but set well back, so very comfortable.

The place was super cute, clean and very peaceful. The view was beautiful. I enjoyed my coffee on the porch every morning. Our host was friendly, greeting us with a bottle of wine and explaining anything we may needed to know to make our stay pleasant. The only negative to our stay was the bed was a little too firm for my back. If your looking a quite get away this is it. It a nice ride to restaurants and grocery stores so be prepared. But we love the remoteness of our stay. We will return again soon. Thanks

Bruce, and his pup River, were very welcoming and hospitable hosts to us and our two dogs. the property was just as advertised, but the pics do not do justice to just how peaceful, serene and soul recharging the space is. From lounging on the tree-canopied private dock during the day and listening to the omnipresent wildlife, watching the early morning mist rise off the water from the second floor comfy bed or taking in the stars at night with little to no light pollution, it was tough to pack up and leave at the end of our stay. All this while still being just a leisurely 15-20min drive to downtown New Bern for shops, restaurants and nightlife made this a must stay again location for us and a definite top recommendation for anyone considering staying in the area. we will definitely be back again!

We love staying at this little cottage in Beaufort and will certainly return again. Its location and proximity to fun things cannot beat. You are able to walk or ride bikes to waterfront access points, restaurants and bars and it’s an easy car ride to Morehead or down east to Harker’s Island. There are two comfortable full-sized beds, a large bathroom with laundry facilities and everything is decorated very beach and cute. The kitchen is small but well equipped and we did make breakfast there each morning. There is also a nice backyard and deck if you need to exercise your pup or simply want to get some fresh air. We simply love this place and the owners are extremely responsive should you need anything at all.

This is a beautiful historic cottage, designed tastefully, super clean, with all amenities. The host is friendly and helpful. The neighborhood is peaceful, easy to walk to shops and parks. I’m an artist and I enjoyed several galleries I visited nearby. The park in the riverfront is a lovely place to sit and read.

This place was everything we were looking for in a long weekend getaway. It is clean, cute, comfy and is located on a quiet street yet close to restaurants, historic area and local beaches. The water view from the deck was perfect for enjoying our morning coffee and the sunsets were stunning. Our fur baby enjoyed the gated deck. The hosts are friendly & attentive but not intrusive. We are definitely going back.

Perfect Honu Hut in the Heart of Downtown Beaufort

What a gem of a place! We are a family of three and the Honu Hut was absolutely perfect! The place itself is safe, extremely comfortable, and has everything you need (e.g. coffee maker, an extra blanket for a surprisingly cool night, and a very helpful house instructions book with really accurate local suggestions). We could walk to everything we hoped to see in Beaufort, including the Shackleford ferry. Brent was always extremely responsive, and was welcoming and kind about our very late arrival. We spent the weekend commenting about how much we loved our new home (and we've stayed in many places)... it was the centerpiece of our long weekend. We would absolutely book the Honu Hut with Brent without hesitation in the future.

Katherine was a very responsive host. Even upon arrival, she helped us through the confusion. We only stayed a night due to a teacher conference, but was the perfect location! If I am ever interested in leaving town I would most definitely check this location first.

We had another great stay at Joe's. Close to downtown Beaufort. The space was clean and comfortable. We are looking forward to returning again in the fall.

Amazing stay! Was super clean the outside was a lovely little surprise. Corky also provided two beach chairs and shabumi couldn’t have asked for a better stay!

Benjamin has gone to great lengths to make this place relaxing. We enjoyed our stay at this clean and cozy tiny home. My husband fell in love with the adjustable twin XL bed because he normally has back pain and doesn't sleep well. He slept well both nights and had no back pain! We appreciate Benjamin putting much thought and care into providing a comfortable place to stay.

The pictures don’t do this cute place justice. It’s so well planned out to include everything you need plus more! Central location that was perfect for our stay and easily walkable to everything you could want to do in Beaufort. Don’t let the small space fool you. It’s huge on charm and function. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat!!
