Ski-in/Ski-out vacation rentals in Avery County

We recently stayed at this vacation rental on Beech Mountain. Been going to Beech for 40+ years and this was one of the best locations we have stayed. When they say ski in and out, they mean it! It’s maybe a 75 yard walk to the base of the slopes. Easy drive to local trails. Walking distance to the Village and Brewery, coffee close by, and a short drive up the hill to town. We were the only ones on the block so it was so peaceful and quiet. Felt like we were in our own private mountain retreat. Would highly recommend this spot. Plenty of room to spread out! Would rent again in a heartbeat! Had all you need, a great indoor fireplace and a small little fenced in area if you have a dog. Only tricky part is if it snows, the front door is basically not accessible…but you can easily go in and out from the sliding doors on the side of the house.

Hannah was really helpful with any questions that we had. The trip was made very easy with check in procedures making life simple! Great place to stay in a fantastic location. Definitely recommend.

Very enjoyable short stay at Sheryl's place. The condo was very comfortable, with stunning views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. At 5,000 feet in elevation, it was blissfully cool on the hottest days in July. The condo is a perfect location to explore the area, including Grandfather Mountain, Banner Elk, Linville Falls, and Blowing Rock. Sheryl was very responsive to all communications. Check-in was a breeze. Highly recommended.

It’s the perfect cozy ski getaway! To me, the best Airbnb is the one with the most hospitable and communicative hosts.. and Ryan and Kay are wonderful to work with. They provided a great slope slide condo with everything you could need… But more than that, we felt welcomed, comfortable and well informed. They also provide a handful of personal touches that you will experience if you rent this unit. The condo was bigger than we thought with a nice space on the bottom floor to handle all of your ski gear. We loved the big washer / dryer as my kids were on and off the slopes all day long. The living room had a lot of seating, soft pillows and a really nice fireplace. The kitchen was well appointed and there were places for eight at the dining room table. The beds were cozy and comfortable! You cannot beat the location and views! We hope to come back soon and look forward to working with Ryan and Kay at this or one of their other homes!

I loved staying in this Condo. We stayed in a place a few days prior that was double the amount. We decided to extend our stay but wanted something cheaper. The other place was cute but did not fit my family well. When we got to this condo we felt like we had so much more room. I loved the fact I could stay in the condo with my toddler while my husband and 6 year old got to snow board and I still got to watch them. We really appreciated the sizing and amount of tv in the condo. And Amy had the house fully ready with waters and any extra kitchen needs you might forget. The beds and couch were super comfy.

We had a wonderful stay at this townhouse in Beech Mountain! It was perfect for our family—spacious, comfortable, and conveniently located near the resort. The property manager was fantastic—super responsive, very informative, and made the entire process seamless. I would highly recommend this place to anyone and would absolutely stay here again!

We enjoyed our stay at Beech Mtn. We walked down to the concert on Beech Mtn., explored the area, had pizza and some beers at the local brewery. Town Tavern in Banner Elk was a great place to eat.

We were looking for a cozy space to warm up between runs on the ski slope. Frank’s place was perfect! Yards from the slope so no worries about parking and best of all, when we needed to warm up or just grab a break, it was easy to get to. If that wasn’t enough, Frank was an excellent host. He set the place up trying to think for all of the things that people would want to do while at his place. Frank is a true delight and you will definitely enjoy meeting him. We will be back!

Diane was very responsive and helpful with tips and tricks to make our stay easier. House was as described with nice amenities, comfortable beds and very clean.

Beautiful views and nicely appointed furniture we was very comfortable even during summer with no AC.

Our stay was fabulous and stress free from start to finish. This is a great unit with incredible views and amenities. Hosts are welcoming and responsive, and the property staff are also wonderful. This unit was spotless, thoughtfully decorated, and well equipped. Can't wait to return!

We were looking for a retreat to just relax. This place delivered!! Host was super responsive and helpful with everything from arrival to departure. Definitely recommend to anyone who needs to just put the world away for a while.

Rick and Elaine were great hosts and very responsive. The location was great for walking to the slopes. The location was private enough that you didn’t feel anyone was watching you and the sunrises from the living room were beautiful. The home was very comfortable and the master bed was very comfortable. They had all the amenities if you were to cook there and the master bathroom was beautifully updated. We had a family of 4 but it could easily host up to 6, possibly more if there are kids. We will be returning for sure!

Wonderful stay! Photos are accurate - cozy, cute and clean. Perfectly located for skiing in Sugar Mountain. Beds and linens were comfortable, kitchen was well equipped, easy to follow instructions for checkin and checkout. Will definitely be back! Thank you!!

The place was nice and in a good location. The deck was nice and we spen most of out time there. We would definitely stay there again in the future.

This place is a gem! We thoroughly enjoyed all of the amenities, and the location was perfect! Great hiking trails, shops and restaurants are all nearby. Lots of space in and out of the cabin to stretch out and relax.

My husband and I stayed here for a friends wedding that was in the area. The home is exactly as listed. Much more house than just the two of us really needed, but it was wonderful to have two bathrooms for getting ready. The space is very clean and tidy. I loved that our pets were welcome as well! It was nice to see deer in the front yard and be remote, but just a 15 min drive to resturants ans shops. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends.

The hosts replied within 15 min of any requests. We had snow on the way in and the host offered us options on how to get down the mountain safely including traction control devices, and alternate routs. The cabin was so much more than we expected! Was an amazing visit and out only regret was that I hadn’t booked more nights to enjoy the property! The hot tub was amazing with the freshly fallen snow as a background for our photos. We will defiantly stay here again! I would suggest if you are going to stay here….book at least 3-5 nights to fully enjoy the property and surrounding area! I rarely give a 5 star rating, but these hosts and their property have earned my 5 star rating! Great job!! You made our stay 100% amazing and unforgettable! Thank you!!

Great location, amazing views inside and out! Home is updated throughout, good size TV’s in each bedroom and the living room. Colleen responded in matter of minutes, great host!

We needed a very last minute place to stay, and Whistlestop was just the place. We enjoyed every minute of it.

First, the hosts are very communicative and hospitable! If you have a question regarding Beech Mtn, I’m confident they can help you. They made sure we had everything we needed. Secondly, the location was perfect for us (I had a 3, 5, and 6 yo plus 2 adult newbie skiiers). *** It’s right at the top of the new learner slope magic carpet ride***. So we could ski-in ski-out all day long. Note that they do not check lift tickets on magic carpet. The chalet itself is very warm and homey. Nothing over the top, but everything you need to be cozy on your trip. It’s a loved home that the owners use with their family, so you’ll find toys aplenty, board games, plus darts and foosball. I cooked a few meals in the kitchen and found everything I needed. Lastly, the fireplace is awesome! It’s exactly what you imagine wanting to cozy up to when coming off the slope. Firewood is on-site. Bring a box of fatwood (Ace Hardware) to spark up fire if needed. The kids did not want to leave!

Great ski weekend with my family. Restaurants were great. The house is SO nice, comfy beds, beautiful fireplace, and the hot tub is amazing! Would love to stay again.
