Family-friendly vacation rentals in West Coast

My husband and I stayed in the farm pod for 3 nights in early December. The farm pod was clean and comfortable in an idyllic setting. We chose to stay here due to its proximity to the Triabunna Wharf (for our full day excursion to Maria Island). This was an pleasant 25 minutes drive away. On the day of our departure Hobart Airport was only 40 minutes drive. We enjoyed the use of the well heated hot tub for 2 nights of our 3 nights stay. Great therapy for our tired muscles following our hikes at Cradle mountains (2 days prior) and our walks on Maria Island. I will remember with fondness sitting in the hot tub looking out at a lamb skipping and prancing on a hay pile in a nearby field. Waking up to the sound of lambs baaing was also a delight. While the farm pod was very well stocked, it was rather compact. Personally we felt a few less decor items on the coffee and dining table would have been better as this had an impact on how much we could spread out our own belongings.

Relocating from Sydney to Hobart, we needed a place to relax while we setup our new place. Felt right at home as soon as we walked in the door. Quiet and peaceful with a secure yard for our pooch. Lovely tranquil view from the sunroom to the water. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic location with amazing venues. We thoroughly enjoyed the facilities and would definitely recommend staying at this property, especially if you are looking for a relaxing stay with awesome views.

This is a lovely spot! Great views of the river & ocean to just sit and watch . . . and watch . . . and watch. Bed was very comfortable. Kitchen had more than basics -- the s'wich maker did a great job for our last dinner! Highly recommend. Do come prepared with groceries and fuel in your vehicle as there's nowhere to pop for something you forgot. The Arthur River Store has a few basics. Thanks for having the fires all prepped.

What a phenomenal experience. From the ‘wow’ moment of opening the front door to THAT view, it was an absolute delight to explore the home and surrounds. Cut off from the rest of the world, I was transported to a place of idyllic luxury. The birdsong formed the soundtrack to my stay, punctuated by the soft thuds of native wildlife letting me know they were near. From the comfort of the serene outdoor spa, to the creature comforts nestled by the fire underneath a blanket inside, I was transported to a place where the outside world was suspended. A truly magical retreat. I’ll be returning again.

This was the most exquisite stay - I will definitely be back to enjoy the cosy cabin vibes by the fireplace and a most glorious view of Hobart and the water from the bedroom window upstairs! Thank you for having me x

It so fun to stay here. I love the loft bed upstairs. But Most of all the energy of the place is really settling. The hot tub area is one of the best in Launceston. I've been to quite a few. Especially with the rain and the roof over it is perfect. Thankyou for being so helpful and reasonable with requests 🙂

This house was very homely and clean. Quiet and peaceful and omg u can't go past Janet's home made cookies sitting in the bench waiting for you. Thanks for a great stay!!

This is a gorgeous place! Both we and our dogs had a fabulous time. Jo was very friendly and her dog Shelly is also really adorable.

This home and garden were magic! We loved the beautiful interior and spent many relaxed days in the house and gorgeous garden. Follow the garden path and you end up at George's Bay. A short drive away is St Helen's and just down the road stunning beaches Beerbarrel and Maurouard. We highly recommend a stay here- perfect for families.

Very comfortable place to lay one’s head after busy day . Was a cold night & lovely wood 🔥 easy to prepare a quick dinner in kitchen . Good pod coffee machine . We recommend this cottage .

Lucy's house in Dodges Ferry was just perfect 👌 everything was as advertised and the coffee machine was a total bonus 😊 the showers were beautiful and the kids had their own private space, which they loved. Shan has a beautiful place, felt like home and also beautiful timeless furniture. everything you need is supplied and the house was spotless. Shan kept in contact prior to booking and responded immediately when I contacted her. a wonderful host and I thank her very much. highly recommend Shans house to people wanting something special.

The property was perfect for a week of relaxing, swimming, and walking on the beach. So many beautiful beaches to explore in the area.

Had a few extremely relaxing days at Jill's place. The place itself has great views, is quiet and peaceful and fairly close to everything. It had a walking trail close by too! Enjoyed my morning coffee with a view, highly recommend to those thinking about visiting Hobart.

We absolutely loved our farm stay! Waking up to fresh milk, eggs, and warm, homemade bread was such a treat—and all as an added bonus. The accommodation was cozy and inviting, and the super-friendly chooks made us feel right at home. A truly memorable experience!

This was our first time in Tasmania, and we always wanted to go to the Cradle Mountains. I was so glad that I chose the Silver Ridge Retreat. It's location at the foothills of majestic Mt Roland is just fantastic, and only a short drive to town. It's so peaceful and serene, and the sunsets are changing colors all the time, illuminating Mt Roland; it's magical. And then there is your host, John. He is making you feel at home right from the check-in. He is extremely knowledgeable, very friendly and helpful. He is one reason alone that makes you want to come back again. Thank you very much, John, for making our stay unforgettable!

Silver Ridge is in an easy to find, idyllic location situated on a large property about 15 minutes outside of Sheffield, with nine well established cottages for a quiet holiday amongst beautiful mountainous scenery. John was a wonderful host, courteous and attentive to all our questions both regarding the property, its various livestock, and surrounding area. The cottage had all necessary provisions to self- manage, including an excellent hot shower and split system heating. The separate indoor pool is very warm and provided a welcoming relaxation at the end of each day. We loved feeding the chooks each morning too. Hope to return again soon. Thank you John.

Jodi's place is lovely, and very thoughfully stocked with pantry items, and toiletries. Jodi is a really lovely host, responsive and very accommodating. We had a wonderful stay, and hope to be back.

Rockpool was an amazing Airbnb, the location is beautiful with ocean views and very peaceful. The hot tub was great, the pool was very cold but good if you enjoy la cold plunge. The cliff top sauna was a great experience, you do have to book it in and pay for the experience as it’s shared with resort where the airbnb located, but very much worth it for the views. Thanks Lynne for providing such a beautiful home with great amenities.

What a lovely beach house! We immediately felt at home, and the amenities were amazing: games room with 8-ball and darts, basketball hoop and ball, swimming pool, kids’ playground and best of all, beach frontage. A huge thank you to Julie and Geoff for making us feel so welcome.

We really enjoyed our stay with Merrydith & Rob! Merrydith is a fantastic host - very thoughtful & helpful. The starter care package of some food & drinks was so nice! The accomodation was lovely. Very homy. Lots of space for the 3 of us. It was quiet & private & easy to reach by car. We certainly recommend staying here. Thanks for everything Merrydith!
