Vacation rentals in Þykkvabær

My stay at the cabin was straight from a fairytale book. I was a solo traveller & absolutely loved the space. I can imagine it being filled with a family but if you’re alone, you should also visit! It’s the perfect escape. I stayed in December when there was only a few hours daylight, so I found my way there in the dark. The instructions were very clear and it was easy to find. When I woke the next day and saw it in the light it was beautiful. Everything was easy to use, from the hot tub to the kitchen having everything you could need. Although I drove, I changed my plans when I saw how much was close by and hiked to Helgafell (so easy to get to). You could definitely base yourself there and not travel far, as there’s a handy guide to what’s close by too! I also travelled south & to the golden circle which was all easy from this base. Thank you for welcoming me!

Signy’s home was absolutely stunning, and my entire family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Signy was incredibly responsive and helpful throughout, making the experience seamless. The location was perfect for our itinerary, and the house was equipped with everything we could possibly need and more. We couldn’t recommend this place highly enough!

The house was clean and tidy. The description and pictures were very accurate and the views from the back porch were amazing. Alfa and Finnur were very easy to communicate with and left very clear notes and expectations. We would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed the stay very much. It was my second time in this area and it was just fine as the first one. The house is very well equipped with everything you need to have a comfortable stay. Great location to explore the south of Iceland. Perfect hot tub which was always ready to enjoy. Great communication, proactive, quick and nice. Recommend to stay there.

Great overall, everything one needs. Would recommend! The floor heating, whirlpool and privacy were definitely the Highlights. The moon shines very bright right into the cabin and it was hard to see any polar lights. Just for your information, nothing the hosts can do about it :D

A very cozy cabin in a peaceful and private setting. Even had a woodstove which was nice to take the chill off. It was well equipped with everything that we needed.

We enjoyed a delightful seven-night stay in this enchanting wooden house, perfectly situated in a tranquil and scenic area embraced by nature's beauty. Just a 25-minute drive from Selfoss, it proved to be an ideal starting point for discovering the marvels of the Golden Circle. The house itself is beautifully furnished, well-equipped, and exceptionally comfortable. Visiting in December, we were captivated by the winter landscape, and despite the frigid temperatures outside, we felt wonderfully warm and cozy inside. Johanna was exceptionally attentive and always quick to respond whenever we had questions or needed assistance. Should I return to Iceland, this house will undoubtedly be my first choice.

Beautiful cabin close to the lovely town of Selfoss. Hot tub was amazing to relax in after a day of exploring. Great spot for so many of Icelands attractions.
