Vacation rentals in San Carlos

We stayed at Casa Familia with our 3 kids (8,6,3) and it was like living in a zoo, birds and animals all day. The birdfeeder was filled at 6 o’clock in the morning, and we woke up every morning to a flock of toucans or oropendolas. The trails behind the house were amazing, and easy to navigate. We appreciated the challenge of the switch backs, but it was manageable for our kids too. The amenities were all there from eggs and bread and fruit to snacks and coffee. The location is very close to the rio Celeste falls just a short drive to the trail head. You do need to rent a car, ideally a 4x4 for part of the road in, but that just Costa Rica in general. If we’re fortunate enough to return in the near future, we will absolutely be rebooking time at Casa Familia.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Blue House. It was super comfortable (great A/C) and the location can't be beat! The view and access to the Celeste River is amazing. The professionally installed steps down to the river are impressive and easy for all to use. The gardens surrounding the house are really beautiful. We saw numerous toucans, parakeets and other birds. Great place to relax and enjoy the firepit on a cool evening! Thanks Anisa, really a great place!

Such a cute house in beautiful surroundings. Loved watching toucans, hummingbirds, and other colorful birds right outside our front door. Great location if visiting Tenorio National Park.

Bertha was an amazing host! This property is nestled in the middle of the rainforest and close to everything. The grounds are so beautifully manicured. It was like being in a secret garden with a beautiful wildlife and birds. We will definitely be back.

They have created a place of lasting beauty in an inactive volcano area where the weather is not too warm with refreshing winds. We found that A/C is not needed here. Unique and perfectly maintained elements: separate guest home for ultimate privacy, salt water pool with dedicated swimming lane, open air screened kitchen and dining with Napoleon Bbq and induction cooktop, cricket ball court, forest trails of varying challenge, super comfy seating everywhere, PLUS full daily breakfast with fresh organic eggs, mixed fresh cut fruit+++, fresh juice, and a choice of perfectly prepared French toast, blueberry pancakes or crepes - yes - freshly prepared crepes!!

Had an amazing stay with Angelica, who welcomed us with open arms. The place which she built herself is truly magical. The breakfast she served us was delicious and the discussions we had were inspiring. There is plenty to do around the place, thermal pools, hikes in the forest, swimming in waterfalls and more. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a hidden gem, isolated from tourist crowds!

We enjoyed our stay at Katira House. The house is sober and very large and offers a great place to settle between the various activities offered in the area. 15 minutes from the entrance of Tenorio Park and King Celeste. The outdoor gallery overlooks a small farmhouse and the surrounding nature. Monkeys came into the trees on the grounds so close to the house! Thank you so much!

The place was beautiful and just as described! Cristian was extremely communicative and provided clear instructions on how to find the place. The place was conveniently located near Rio Celeste and had a beautiful back deck with a hot tub to enjoy. I would definitely recommend staying there!
