Brigittes b&b is so warm and welcoming! it has spectacular views with everything one needs for a very comfortable stay. I was welcomed with enthusiasm and great communication from Brigitte and upon my arrival, she provided a delicious homemade baked good with tea! The breakfast in the morning was so delicious & she went above and beyond as a host! I cannot recommend this place enough, if you get the opportunity or see it available, do yourself a favor and book for a very relaxing stay on Salt Spring! thank you so much!

Gonzales Beach Character Home

We booked our stay very early since it was for our son’s Wedding. It had plenty of space for all the extended family to stay and gather before our activities for the day. The location was terrific for walking which our family loves to do. Loved that it was close to grocery stores and restaurants. We all enjoyed our stay! Thanks!

Castle in the Sky

Seymour was responsive and check-in was a breeze. We felt right at home in the tidy house with spacious rooms. The labels around the house were helpful and unobtrusive. Great location for tourists, and nature lovers. Shopping, dining and a lovely coffeeshop near by. Comfortable beds and linens. This was definitely the best Air B&B I’ve stayed in and hope to stay here again each time I return to the island.

Two Story House Close to Nature

AmandaRating, 5 stars4 months ago
Huge home with all the needed amenities for our stay! Was very pleased to find a little closet of kids puzzles and books as well. My kids loved the gems and rocks that were collected around the home. Wish there was a little space where we could have found it what some of them were and where they were collected!!

Excellent time here! Absolutely beautiful in nature, the sauna is a great little treat to warm up after surfing or a hike. Open plan kitchens and living room was great for the stay. Excellent location, ~5 min drive to Mystic Falls parking lot or the surf beach. Truly mean it, we’ll be coming back!

Family size air b&b by the sea

BrendaRating, 5 stars3 months ago
We stayed 2 nights at Randall’s place while in Saanich for a wedding. The place was very clean which is always my top priority. The bedrooms were nicely laid out and great for our group of 6. We really enjoyed the living room with a great gas fireplace which made the space very cozy. Kitchen was well equipped, clean and spacious and Randall kindly provided a selection of beverages for us to enjoy as well as farm fresh eggs which we had for breakfast. That was a nice touch! We were all very happy with the stay.

This was the perfect space for our family. The open layout and balcony were wonderful. The unit stayed cool on the hot days. The underground parking was very convenient. One note: It is definitely more suited for a couple than family. It is clearly advertised as a one bedroom, but the bed for the 5th person being a single mattress on the floor was a bit of a surprise.

Historical Chinatown Suite by Fan Tan Hotel

LauraRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
I agree with other reviews calling this place a hidden gem! It doesn't look like much from the street but once inside it is very spacious and full of history. There are 2 flights of stairs from the front door to the suite, so I wouldn't recommend for anyone with mobility issues, but otherwise very charming! The hosts are very fast to reply (under 30 minutes) and the internet is very fast as well (300+ Mbps download speed). The dedicated working area is just a small closet and the chair is quite old, but it's workable, and if you need more space there is a large dining table in the middle of the suite that could be used as well. Overall we enjoyed our time here and especially enjoyed all the great food within walking distance of us. Thanks for the lovely stay!

Executive oceanfront/French Beach, 2 bed condo

TedRating, 5 stars5 months ago
We had an incredible stay at this stunning property perched on the ocean in Shirley, BC! The views of the Olympic Mountains from the premium hot tub were nothing short of breathtaking, especially when we spotted humpback whales at dusk on our first night—pure magic! The property itself at moments may feel more like a swanky international hotel with its backlit onyx kitchen and luxurious rain shower yet nestled in the rustic beauty of the coast. Our host, Robert, was incredibly kind and attentive, immediately offering his charging station for our car—a real relief. Highly recommend this place for an exceptional, premium coastal retreat close to Victoria!

The 201 | Your Luxury Getaway

WillamRating, 5 stars3 months ago
This is a great location for driving over to interesting attractions on Vancouver Island. The inside and outside accommodations in the 201 were very comfortable! The beds we slept in provided restful sleep. When you tire of eating out at the many fine restaurants, you can pick up food to cook and eat from a nearby grocery stores or at a bakery in the nearby bakery in Sidney. The 201 has all the kitchen appliance’s you’ll need. The outside view on top of the roof can be spectacular in the early mornings. We parked a second car overnight on Mt Newton Cross Road half way between Wallace Dr and E Saanich Rd. No problem as long as it gets moved around and does sit in the same spot for 3 days straight. Patterson Rd is another location.

ECOcentric & Fragrance-Free w/Bikes

StellaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We loved our stay here! Valerie was an incredibly responsive and kind host, and provided us with everything we could have possibly needed. Their graciously provided products made the scent-free requirement very easy. The only thing to note is that since it is a basement unit, you can hear footsteps on the floor above pretty clearly, which posed no issue for us but may be a concern for light sleepers, etc. Other than that, it was a very quiet and peaceful stay! Very easy access via walk/bike/bus to downtown for those without a car, and a beautiful neighborhood. Such a good find!

Sweet Westcoast Suite with Amazing Ocean Views

ColleenRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We recently had a wonderful 5- night stay in Jen and Jason’s suite. The decor is lovely and peaceful, with everything needed for a comfortable stay. We enjoyed the gorgeous view of the bay, whether from inside looking through the wall to wall windows or while bundled up in a blanket on the patio chairs during this frosty week. Jen was very helpful with local recommendations, and flexible with checkin and checkout. Communication was always quick and friendly. During our time in Mill Bay we enjoyed hiking at Cobble Hill, and the beaches of Cherry Point, Whisky Point, and Bamberton Park. Bridgemans Bistro and Spicecraft Indian Restaurant provided some delicious food! We highly recommend staying here where you will be welcomed with hospitality and relaxation.

Seaside Cottage with Private Beach

LauraRating, 5 stars4 months ago
Stunning views (you can see the Malahat Skywalk across the inlet), abundance of wildlife all around you (sea birds, river otters, harbor seals, deer), as well as a cozy setting made for a magical experience. A bit challenging to get our kayaks down to the water from the parking area, however, worth the effort! Recommend to pack several smaller/lighter suitcases versus larger ones for an extended stay due to steep walkway/stairs to the property.

Cozy Suite with Private Entrance

RachaelaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Debbie and Blair clearly enjoy hosting and the evidence is in the details. There were lots of extra touches that you might expect in a hotel. The place was spotless and felt brand new, and the bed was very comfortable. Our hosts were also very responsive and even agreed to change the wifi password for us to fulfill remote work security requirements. Our only regret was not thanking them personally for the stay - they live upstairs - but we had planned our days minute to minute and didn't end up having the time. Highly recommend!

Your guide to Victoria

Welcome to Victoria

Perched on the southern tip of beautiful Vancouver Island, Victoria is a classic Pacific Northwest maritime town brimming with charm and culture. Cruise ships, yachts, and sailboats glide through its ports; visitors roam the lively wharf; and offshore, it’s not uncommon to see whales putting on a show. Wander inland and you’ll find that British Columbia’s capital city is full of ornate Edwardian architecture, expansive public gardens, and ample bike paths. Among Victoria’s significant structures are its late-19th-century Parliament Buildings, whose grand facades glow with festive lights at night, and the genteel Empress Hotel, opened in 1908, where you can still take high tea. Victoria is also home to the oldest Chinatown in Canada, where you can find the country’s narrowest street, shopping corridor Fan Tan Alley. Add to this mix three colleges, world-class museums, picturesque rainforests, driftwood-dotted beaches, and stunning shoreline views, and Victoria is a perfect blend of urbane and outdoorsy.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Victoria

Summers are balmy and mild in Victoria, perfect for strolling the city and enjoying seasonal festivities such as Canada Day on July 1 and the Symphony Splash, celebrated in August, when the Victoria Symphony performs on a barge in the harbor. Victoria gets less rainfall than other parts of Canada, and hardly any snow. Thanks to the city’s mild weather, visitors flow through it year round, but in winter the temperatures do dip considerably, and even in summer a coat is recommended for cool nights.

Top things to do in Victoria

Beacon Hill Park

This sprawling waterfront green space is the heart of Victoria’s park system. Its lush environs include picturesque lily ponds and stands of majestic and rare Garry oak trees. You’ll also find an ornate totem pole carved by acclaimed artist and First Nations member Mungo Martin, and the Moss Lady, a large, whimsical sculpture of a giant taking a nap on the park floor.

Miniature World

Travel the globe in a few strides at this museum housing more than 85 teensy dioramas of places real and imagined. London, outer space, and Camelot are just a few of the locales painstakingly recreated in miniature and populated with residents no bigger than a thumbnail. These motorized exhibits include mini trains that zip around, and doll-sized carnival rides that spin and light up.

Craigdarroch Castle

Known colloquially as a bonanza castle, this staggering temple to wealth sits on a hill overlooking Victoria. Built by coal baron Robert Dunsmuir between 1887 and 1890, this imposing four-floor Victorian estate is replete with stained-glass windows, intricate wood carvings, and antique furnishings. Take a tour of its opulent rooms and ponder the cleaning routine.
