City appartement in Purmerend

ArnoRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We stayed in this lovely apartment for 3 days to visit friends that lived in the area. The apartment was spotless and very easy to find. It is right in the heart of Purmerend close to the Koemarkt where many restaurants, pubs, and clubs are located. There is no parking right outside the apartment, but there are a couple of parking garages nearby (we parked in the Gemeentehuis Parking garage). With respect to the apartment itself, the beds were very comfortable, the bathroom was beautiful and clean and had a nice shower, and a bottle of wine was waiting for us when we arrived. It was the perfect place (and base) for us for the planned visits to various spots in and around Purmerend. Highly recommended!!

Stay at this Houseboat in Utrecht!

SarahRating, 5 stars6 days ago
We were so happy with Lies' adorable house boat. The space itself is so unique, functional, and had everything we needed for our 4 day stay. We were also happy with the location since it was in a quiet neighborhood within walking of the grocery store. Traveling with a child we often like to eat a big lunch while exploring and eat a small meal at home in the evening, so nice to be able to get groceries. In addition, we were able to rent bikes ride down the road, so we explored the charming town by bike. Pro tip- if you are unfamiliar with the biking culture in the Netherlands, watch a Youtube video on rules. It's really something special to see. Other major sites are an easy train ride away, which is also a fun and easy experience if you are not familiar with the train system. Finally, Lies was incredibly sweet, thoughtful, and easy to work with. The kind of person you meet and wish you had time to sit and have a cup coffee with. I highly recommend!

Luxurious yet cosy houseboat

CarmelRating, 5 stars4 days ago
We had a lovely stay on Albert’s boat. He is a very attentive host even providing flowers for our arrival. Yes there are temporary building works in nearby buildings but we were not bothered by them. We would definitely stay here again and look forward to drinks on the terrace in the sunshine. The houseboat was warm welcoming and very clean and we were sad to leave

My 5 days at Erica's boat house was peaceful and properly stocked for convenience. The bottle of wine was very welcomed coming off a very long flight. I had no unexpected issues arise. It was a very quiet stay. The town center has lovely dining choices. If you are looking for modern conveniences and a peaceful stay, Erica has this to offer. The Wi-Fi is super great and she provides a great Bluetooth system and a charger station. Coming from America this was an A+ Thank you for a wonderful stay. Louisa- Texas USA

Amsterdam romantic house boat

ChristineRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Incredible! Sleeping on a houseboat is a great experience, especially when it's so warm, beautiful, comfortable, with an exquisite taste for decoration! Waking up by the water with moorhens and ducks is really nice! The kids really enjoyed it! And the price is unbeatable compared to the quality of the home! And we are in the countryside, quiet, while being very close to the city. We recommend 200%!!!

“The White Tulip” Detached cottage with garden

KatrinRating, 5 stars2 days ago
Great little cottage in quiet surroundings with a lovely little garden! We also felt very comfortable here with a small baby. The house offers everything you need for a short break: kitchenette with stove, coffee maker and microwave oven, beautiful living room with fireplace, large TV, large bed and spacious bathroom. Communication with the hosts was very friendly and went smoothly. The car can be parked for free in the large parking lot. Haarlem City can be reached in just a few minutes by car, Ruud has also informed us about where we can park close to the city and for free. Amsterdam is also very accessible, although we focused exclusively on Haarlem this time. The beach is about 15 minutes by car. Really a perfect location. We will be happy to come back :)

Country Garden House with Panoramic View

LenaRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We had a very nice time in this cozy and stylishly furnished little country house. The view from the cozy veranda was lovely. The surroundings were also perfect for smaller excursions such as to the towns of Edam, Volendam and Horn. As well as a visit to Amsterdam, which was easily accessible by bus and metro. In the area, you can also get around by bike. Victor was a great host and his two dogs were very cute. I can only recommend it!

Your guide to Amsterdam

All About Amsterdam

Whether you’re snacking on sweet stroopwafels and browsing the antiques at Noordermarkt or taking in a boundary-pushing dance performance at a local theater, Amsterdam combines old and new at every turn. You’ll find world-class museums, including the Anne Frank House and the Rijksmuseum, 17th-century canal houses, stunning industrial architecture, and vibrant cafes overlooking the city’s famous canals — where the water can turn into makeshift ice rinks in the winter. The canal district of Nine Streets showcases independent boutiques, while the city’s major squares, Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein, are brimming with nightlife. If you’re looking for some greenery, Hortus Botanicus is one of the world’s oldest botanical gardens.

For a bird’s eye view of the city, head to the panoramic observation deck of the multi-use space A’dam Lookout where you can also ride on Europe’s highest swing, Over the Edge, more than 325 feet above ground.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Amsterdam

For a kaleidoscopic show of famous Dutch tulips, head to your Amsterdam rental in the spring. This is also when you’re less likely to encounter rain, although the city’s weather is famously hard to predict — an umbrella and waterproof jacket are musts here. Summer brings everyone outside, whether they’re biking into the surrounding countryside, soaking up some sun on a canal boat, or chilling at a waterfront café. Koningsdag (King’s Day) on April 27 is a national celebration of epic proportions. Join the locals by dressing in orange — the color of the Netherlands — and soaking up the festive atmosphere as people line the canals and set up stalls outside their homes. Later in the year, June gathers international artists and musicians all month long for the Holland Festival. During winter time, Amsterdam’s oceanic climate brings cold, blustery weather.

Head here for in depth insight into the science behind phosphorescence, from small-scale minerals to all-encompassing experiences where you become part of the art. Just be sure to book ahead, as appointments are the only way to visit.

Amsterdamse Bos

This 2,500-acre forest is one of Europe’s largest city parks. Here you’ll find miles of walking and cycling paths, pretty bridges to stroll across, as well as areas for hockey, tennis, cricket, football, and swimming. Plus there are a number of spots here for refueling and relaxing, including cafes, restaurants, and a spa.

Amsterdam-Oost

This vibrant East Amsterdam district strikes a balance between historic and hip. Sandwiched between the Amstel Canal and the historic Jewish Quarter, you’ll find galleries featuring work by Dutch creatives, a stunning concert hall, and restaurants featuring cuisine from around the world. You could easily spend a day here wandering past the grand fountains in Oosterpark, going shopping at the area’s vintage and design-focused stores, browsing the 100-year-old street market known as Dappermarkt, grabbing a coffee at a canal cafe, and checking out the quirky bars and breweries.
