The Magical Cabin on Back Creek

Built in 1939 as a fishing cabin by a gentleman who incorporated box cars as rafters and beams, dates still visible since removing the attic. By far the best place I've ever lived. I decided to share it with others who love to explore, who love listening to the voice of the creek or who come just to sit on the porch high above the creek with a spouse, friend, family, or alone. Star City Gem near Trailheads

I have been staying at Airbnb's for about 10 years now throughout the US, and I have to say this is by far the BEST house I have ever stayed at. The house was beautifully decorated and felt so homey, right when you walked in. Kevin thought about everything when it came to accommodations as well! Paper products, laundry pods and dryer sheets, coffee pods, PLUS creamer! Bath towels, linens, beds, furniture (inside and out) were all so comfortable. I have already started making arrangements to come back next year. Anyone booking this house will NOT be disappointed. Thank you Kevin, and family!!

It was perfect. Close to Salem and restaurants and grocery stores, EV charging (at Hart Kia). Loved the goat farm in the back, sunrises over the mountains and horses across from the Post Office. Close to several hiking areas. Very, very clean with fairly well equipped kitchen, laundry and bathroom. Ample sheets, towels and supplies. Nice restoration. We will be back!

Cabin is perfect, feels secluded in yard with the creek running beside. But you are about 10-15 minutes away from anything in Roanoke. Yard is great for the dogs to run around and explore, with a fence high enough to keep our one escape artist dog contained. Everything was very clean and cozy inside. One thing I noticed that isn't clear in the listing, is that for one bedroom there is not a door between the bed and bathroom. Could be uncomfortable if sharing that room with another person.

We had a fantastic stay at the Virginia Cottage! The property was clean, the beds were comfortable, and it had all the amenities we could possibly need. Check-in and communication was easy. The location was convenient-a short drive to attractions, grocery stores, restaurants, etc. We especially loved the home's layout as it was well suited for our group of 4 adults and 2 children. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone visiting the area!
