This was one of the most beautiful properties I have ever stayed at. You are completely surrounded by the most majestic mountains I have ever see. The entire garden, natural cold pool, river flowing through the property, the bed which is amazingly comfortable, everything was fantastic. Easily catch a bus and go into town which is really close by. The host is wonderful and will make sure that you have everything you need. It really feels like a very special place. I will definitely be going back.

Rachel has cultivated the most peaceful, warm, loving space that we have ever encountered while traveling. The rooms are lovely and spacious, with tons of natural light flowing in, a stone fireplace for the chilly nights, and a lovely little kitchen. The house is surrounded by nature, with trees, flowers, and streams creating a perfect oasis. But the best reason to stay here is Rachel herself. She is a nurturing, soulful, sensitive human being, who will help you with whatever she possibly can, in terms of navigating the area or giving you excellent recommendations. She will welcome you into her family space with an open heart, and you’ll never forget your stay in Urubamba.

We fell in live with Cecilia’s beautiful home. It feels more like a private resort than a home, with beautiful gardens, a stone firepit, trampoline, and grassy spaces. The house is clean, artistic, and perfect for a family of 4. Great furnishings and supplies from her boutique store Kaia in Urubamba. It was right on urubamba river and road is on the ancient inca path. Walking distance to maras salt mines. Perfect location, 10 min to market in urubamba and 20 minutes to ollantaytambo. And tons of stars at night while we made a fire in the firepit. And Cecilia is a kind and lovely host, bringing tomatos and carrots from her garden. Such a lovely experience and will be a core memory for the rest of our lives!

A small cabin on the river, magical and cozy, highly recommended

This home is a dream. The host, Dana, was incredibly communicative and helped me in numerous ways not directly related to me stay. For example, she recommended me an amazing guide for Machu Picchu and also helped me find the best places to get Alpaca goods in Cusco. As for the home itself, it's truly singular. You feel as though you have a little slice of the Andean mountains to yourself, even though you're only a ten minute walk to the center of Ollantaytambo. It's hard to describe how peaceful it is to wake up in this tiny home surrounded by the sounds of songbirds and a nearby river. I should also mentioned how secure the property is: it is only accessable via a bridge over a rushing river. This bridge is blocked by a heavy, large door to which you have the key. That is all to say, I always felt safe even during my solo stay in this remote area. If you're looking at this listing, just book it!

Refugio Maras was a home very far away from home. The hosts took care of us very well. The cabins were as described and there is a lot to explore in the charming town of Maras. My friend happened to have an unfortunate emergency and needed medical attention and they went above and beyond to get him to medical care. Very appreciative of the hospitality and care they showed. Would absolutely stay here again. Thank you again!

The space is the loveliest retreat you could have. Added touches of paint and sketching pencils were lovely. Macarena and her neighbours were all lovely people and extremely helpful.

This is a very unique property! We felt right at home. Everything worked perfectly and was perfectly clean. Would highly recommend!
