Cute 1-BR stone cottage close to NRG

When visiting the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve, stay at this quaint stone cottage less than a mile off of Route 19 in downtown Oak Hill, WV. Things to Note: This little cottage has skylights upstairs, so light floods into this space from sunrise to sundown. Also, the mattress is firm. Finally, the hot water is provided via a tankless hot water heater, which has been known to cause water temperature variability.

This is the second property we've stayed at hosted by Elizabeth. Elizabeth is an excellent host- she is very responsive to all queries and requests and her homes are immaculately clean and welcoming when you arrive. The Oak Hill property is located in a residential neighborhood. We found it to be very quiet and had no issues with dogs barking (as other reviewers mentioned). The home is beautifully decorated and the kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed to prepare a Thanksgiving dinner. The beds are firm and comfortable, as are the linens. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

We had a lovely stay at Greg and Mary’s adorable home. The house is very cute and has a great vintage feel - just as pictured. Everything was clean, comfortable and well stocked. We also really enjoyed the fire pit! The cottage is walking distance to town which was really nice for getting dinner and exploring the cute town. Our main goal was to visit the New River Gorge National Park, and it’s super close to a some great hikes and viewpoints. Also very close to whitewater rafting! Highly recommend!

This home was spotless and everything seemed brand-new. Chelsea provided excellent restaurant AND activity recommendations and went above and beyond when we asked for recommendations on how to celebrate our son’s bday in the area. The snacks were such a nice welcome surprise and were just what we needed after a long road trip. The house was so convenient to rafting, hiking, restaurants, coffee shops, and the New River Gorge bridge and NP visitor center. We HIGHLY recommend this property when visiting the New River Gorge Nat’l Park!!

I am very particular about where I stay. We would definitely stay here again. This is a very old home with a lot of character. It was truly like staying at a friends house. Very cozy. There are 3 bedrooms and a comfy couch. The kitchen was easy to cook in. The bathroom and kitchen were very clean. The linens and towels are not brand new, which was a bonus because they were super soft and comfy. They were all clean and fresh and smelled wonderful. The beds and couch were very comfortable. The kids enjoyed the Wii U. Karen was more than helpful and was super attentive and happy to help us with anything we needed. I was concerned that with it being a pet friendly rental that it would smell like dogs but it definitely did not. The trains do come by often. If you wear ear plugs they won't bother you at all. Honestly we enjoyed them. They are close enough to see and hear but not so loud that they hurt your ears. Our kids and family definitely recommend this rental.

We came down for a long weekend and rode sxs at Burning Rock. We took the road which is legal, it only took about ten mins to get there. We enjoyed being able to ride straight from the home. Peggy answered all my questions, leading up to our stay. And the house was exactly as pictured. For the neighborhood having a lot of house around, it was quiet.
