Vacation rentals with lake access in Portsmouth

Are you torn between properties in the area? Forget the others - choose this one. We loved our stay, and the property Hosts were by far the most accommodating AirBnB hosts we’ve ever encountered. We hope to return again in the future and drink a fresh cup of coffee while experiencing that glorious sunrise from the patio.

First time in VA, and Nate’s place did not disappoint. My brother returned from deployment and it was the perfect location. Nate was always in communication with me. Thank you! We enjoyed our stay.

The R & R River House was exactly as described! It was beautiful, so clean, and had everything we needed! It was nice and private and we felt safe. It is a beautiful home and we will definitely be recommending to our family who visit this area often. We will absolutely be booking this home again! Jason was a superb host who was very responsive and helpful. 10/10 would recommend!

Our second time to Matthew's place at the holidays. We feel very comfortable and it is the perfect place to enjoy the company of our adult children and their spouses. Brought our 2 labs this time. They were a "last minute" add-on, and Matthew responded to our late request quickly, and was extremely accommodating. Plenty of space for us and our dogs, and the backyard was perfect to give the dogs some outside time. Will return !

This stay was a retreat weekend for my leaders. The accommodations were clean and cozy with picturesque views. The host rep was very responsive and they worked with us for our parking needs. Sidenote: Sandbridge does not allow cars to park overnight in their parking lots in the winter months, so make arrangements to carpool if you have more than 5 cars coming to stay. Would stay here again. The house was as advertised, it met our needs well and gave us ample space for meeting and recreation.

This is a quaint home in a nice neighborhood. They kitchen had great appliances, and the home was nicely decorated as a family home. The back yard could have used some attention as it was full of leaves and not able to take our dog outside the fenced area due to the debris. The beds had older mattresses, but the bathrooms were nice. Overall, a great home and I would recommend this to someone needing a dog friendly home.

We were in town to visit with and host family and had a fantastic stay. The property was exactly as described—clean, comfortable, secure, and in a good location. There was plenty of space for everyone to sleep and enjoy one another’s company. The bedroom on the ground floor was critical for one of our older family members and the newly renovated bathroom on the ground floor was lovely. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you could possibly need to cook and entertain, making it perfect for our group during the holidays. The host was incredibly responsive and made sure everything went smoothly from start to finish. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a hassle-free and enjoyable stay!

The perfect spot for our family holiday! Sarah was incredibly responsive, helpful and friendly and the house felt like a home right away. Fully stocked kitchen, pristine cleanliness, high end touches everywhere while still having kid-friendly furniture and a handicap-friendly layout. Can’t say enough glowing things, we’ll be back!

I would definitely stay here again! My absolute favorite part was the deck outside. It had so much seating and a table with an umbrella. The home was lovely. The queen size bed was comfy. The space on the side of the bed with the wall is awkward because the intake vent is there, and that vent is also loud and annoying. Just wear earplugs! We added two of the wooden tray tables from the closet as night stands. The house is clean except the floor, which I'd imagine is hard to sweep or mop because the boards have shifted, making the floor uneven with cracks through out. So the floor felt and looked a bit dirty, but you're by the beach with sand, so eh not a problem.

Velma's place was great! We surprisingly got upgraded to the unit upstairs, which had a porch with a beautiful view of the water. The unit was clean and spacious. It met all our needs. Velma was also very proactive and responsive. I would highly recommend this place.

Great place to stay away from downtown VA Beach. It was the perfect size for our small family. The park amenities (pools, fishing) were great. A short distance to the beach and close to public beach access parking lot with picnic tables, bath house, grills etc. if you would rather drive instead of walk.

We love the Carriage house! After being married and staying there back in 2022, we decided to revisit and stay with family over New Years. It felt like coming home. Charming, comfortable, convenient! We will be back!

This was an excellent house. Very well kept and peaceful even though there was a main road out front. The house is set back and has a courtyard between the house and garage. Easy 2 minute walk to the beach. Plenty of space and it had everything we needed

We loved our stay at the Simple Life. Everything was exactly as the listing pictured it. While the house is on the older and smaller side compared to many of the other rentals in Sandbridge, it has clearly been impeccably maintained. We enjoyed the pool and being just two blocks from the beach, which was uncrowded. My only minor complaint is that the bunk bed in the second bedroom wasn’t super comfortable and it was very squeaky, which wasn’t ideal since I was sharing it with my sleeping newborn, and my senior mom had some trouble getting up on the bed in the primary because it was so high off the ground. But that is seriously such a minor thing. The kitchen was well-equipped and we had plenty of towels and access to a washer/dryer, which we didn’t end up using. We had a really wonderful, relaxing time and my dad commented several times he wished we could have stayed another week!
