Vacation rentals with lake access in Portsmouth

Are you torn between properties in the area? Forget the others - choose this one. We loved our stay, and the property Hosts were by far the most accommodating AirBnB hosts we’ve ever encountered. We hope to return again in the future and drink a fresh cup of coffee while experiencing that glorious sunrise from the patio.

There was bad weather the week we were planning to stay, which could have led to us canceling last minute. The host was willing to be extremely flexible if that situation would’ve happened. The house was clean and exactly like the pictures. I would book again if I came back to the area.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Jason's R&R River House! The house is beautifully decorated, boasting a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, paired with incredibly comfortable beds for a restful night. The view from the property is simply amazing, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind. Jason was incredibly prompt and attentive—when I messaged him about ice trays, he showed up just minutes later with a bag of ice! His friendliness and attention to detail truly enhanced my stay. I highly recommend this home for anyone looking for a comfortable and memorable getaway.

I have stayed at quite a few rental houses and this is one of the best. The house is very well maintained and clean. The listing for the house is dead on, not misleading as some others tend to be, with a host who is very helpful and responsive to any questions you may have. The location is very convent for beach trips (the beach is a block away) as well as having numerous restaurants very close makes this a very easy stay. I would do it again, without question.

This stay was a retreat weekend for my leaders. The accommodations were clean and cozy with picturesque views. The host rep was very responsive and they worked with us for our parking needs. Sidenote: Sandbridge does not allow cars to park overnight in their parking lots in the winter months, so make arrangements to carpool if you have more than 5 cars coming to stay. Would stay here again. The house was as advertised, it met our needs well and gave us ample space for meeting and recreation.

We were in town for a surprise 50th birthday party. This was just the beginning of a weekend of memories with my sister'friends! The Broadway was an absolute wonderful surprise. The pictures online do not do it justice for this cute and quant townhouse. Decorations fit the broadway theme. If ever back in Portsmouth we would easily stay here again.

This is a quaint home in a nice neighborhood. They kitchen had great appliances, and the home was nicely decorated as a family home. The back yard could have used some attention as it was full of leaves and not able to take our dog outside the fenced area due to the debris. The beds had older mattresses, but the bathrooms were nice. Overall, a great home and I would recommend this to someone needing a dog friendly home.

We were in town to visit with and host family and had a fantastic stay. The property was exactly as described—clean, comfortable, secure, and in a good location. There was plenty of space for everyone to sleep and enjoy one another’s company. The bedroom on the ground floor was critical for one of our older family members and the newly renovated bathroom on the ground floor was lovely. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you could possibly need to cook and entertain, making it perfect for our group during the holidays. The host was incredibly responsive and made sure everything went smoothly from start to finish. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a hassle-free and enjoyable stay!

We had a wonderful stay at the Powhatan Hilton resort. The two-suite lock off was perfect for our party of 4 adults and two children. We had more than enough space with two kitchens and two living rooms - private patio and balcony (upper and lower suites). Beautiful resort. We would definitely return!

It was what the picture show just unexpected in real life

I would definitely stay here again! My absolute favorite part was the deck outside. It had so much seating and a table with an umbrella. The home was lovely. The queen size bed was comfy. The space on the side of the bed with the wall is awkward because the intake vent is there, and that vent is also loud and annoying. Just wear earplugs! We added two of the wooden tray tables from the closet as night stands. The house is clean except the floor, which I'd imagine is hard to sweep or mop because the boards have shifted, making the floor uneven with cracks through out. So the floor felt and looked a bit dirty, but you're by the beach with sand, so eh not a problem.

Charming Cape Charles getaway! I was so happy to find this gem and even more thrilled when I arrived. From the beautiful landscape of the gated community, to the southern charm of this glorious suite…I wanted for nothing. This enormous suite has all the comforts of home and the location was spectacular. The property offered not only a private beach on the bay , a community pool, a beautiful well maintained golf course, it was also a short drive to the charming town of Cape Charles. Dawn offered endless advice to her favorite restaurants, activities to do and places to see while we visited. She was just a text or call away if I needed anything. Her hospitality was beyond measure. I look forward to coming back.

Velma's place was great! We surprisingly got upgraded to the unit upstairs, which had a porch with a beautiful view of the water. The unit was clean and spacious. It met all our needs. Velma was also very proactive and responsive. I would highly recommend this place.

Beautiful carriage house and one of the best Airbnb rentals that we have stayed at to date. Tyler and Kate were very proactive and responsive with all communications and questions. The Airbnb was well stocked with all the essentials and check in and check out were an absolute breeze. Plenty of parking on site. Really enjoyed the peaceful setting and nature path. Highly recommend for a quiet and cozy weekend getaway or staycation! The property is absolutely stunning and a hidden gem.

We loved our stay at the Simple Life. Everything was exactly as the listing pictured it. While the house is on the older and smaller side compared to many of the other rentals in Sandbridge, it has clearly been impeccably maintained. We enjoyed the pool and being just two blocks from the beach, which was uncrowded. My only minor complaint is that the bunk bed in the second bedroom wasn’t super comfortable and it was very squeaky, which wasn’t ideal since I was sharing it with my sleeping newborn, and my senior mom had some trouble getting up on the bed in the primary because it was so high off the ground. But that is seriously such a minor thing. The kitchen was well-equipped and we had plenty of towels and access to a washer/dryer, which we didn’t end up using. We had a really wonderful, relaxing time and my dad commented several times he wished we could have stayed another week!

A Beautiful home with a lovely back yard. Lots of space inside, and lots of amenities for kids. The kitchen was great and had everything I needed. Overall the house was very comfortable, but perhaps a bit under-furnished. Although the listing indicated dedicated office space, I ended up doing most of my work at the dining room table, but that worked well and had a nice view of the river. The network was snappy and reliable. The neighborhood was quiet and the home very private -- My stay was quite enjoyable and the host was responsive when I reached out.
