Family-friendly vacation rentals in Port Hope

The cottage - which is the basement of the house where the hosts live - was very cute and spacious. It is easy to find, and close enough to Toronto to be convenient, while remote enough to feel secluded. There is no kitchen, but it’s easy to get around that issue with the BBQ, especially for a short stay. The hosts were quite kind and the facilities very nice! My main issue was that the extra $40 per night per additional person felt a bit expensive (we added a guess at the last minute, going from 5 to 6 guests and were charged and extra $75+). I understand that the breakfast is included, however the price increase didn’t feel justified. The breakfast tasted good, but the portions were quite small (re: the price) (for example 2 pieces of French toasts each, a small bowl of fruit to share and coffee) and the “vegetarian option” was just to receive less food, instead of receiving a substitute. PS. In the winter the steps out of the hot tub are very very slippery, be careful.

We had a wonderful stay at Chris’ beautiful cottage as 4 families with young children/babies. The space felt very spacious, yet cozy, which is a tough balance to strike! Everything was incredibly clean and there was nothing that we needed that wasn’t available. Chris was readily available for any of our questions from booking until checkout. We hope to come back again soon!

We booked Thomas' place for an event nearby and it was perfect. Check went smoothly, the condo was exactly as pictured. Thomas was east to reach and we had zero issues.

Amazing and thoughtful touches. Everything was set up perfectly as a couples retreat. We will definitely book again. I would recommend staying here to anyone looking for a relaxing, cozy getaway.

Cori has done an amazing job decorating the cottage - it was a very well-kept and well-stocked space. The listing was very accurate and the check-in experience was very smooth. There was lots to do in the area and Cori had also prepared a binder with information detailing activities and attractions nearby. She was also readily available for any questions that we may have had. Thank you for having us as your guests - we're looking forward to coming again in the future!

We had an awesome stay. It was girls/moms weekend away. Got to sleep in each morning on comfy beds as late as we wanted but seeing the sunrises was great too! All the furniture was super comfy. The cottage had all the amenities we needed and more. The lake was picturesque and the grounds were beautiful. The hot was the icing on the cake for us ladies though. Clean and the perfect temperature. I would absolutely recommend staying At Orkney Beach and would love to come back again in the summer for a longer stay. 3 night wasn't enough. Murray was a pleasure to deal with. Thanks so much for hosting us!!

We had a lovely stay at Linda’s home! It is beautifully decorated and had all the amenities we were looking for…beach, water/boating equipment, lawn games, etc. Linda also had some great suggestions for other activities and restaurants in the area.

hosts were very welcoming and friendly. the cabin was amazing and very private. a perfect getaway with a backwoods feel. the bed is comfortable and was very warm despite the cold weather. would book here again!

Mrinal and her husband are very friendly and courteous. They answer every question very quickly and give helpful recommendations. The accommodation was very clean and well organised. The kitchen is very practical and has all needed utensils. We can strongly recommend this airbnb.

Beautiful cottage with a spectacular view of the lake! Very quiet and peaceful for rest and relaxation. The fireplace made the cottage even more cozy on some very cold winter days during our stay. The bed was very comfortable and the entire cottage was well set up for a relaxing atmosphere. Everything was easy to find and anything you could possibly need was there. We loved that amenities like grocery stores and restaurants were close by and easily accessible.

Just an amazing weekend. Noreen and Randy were great. Their daughter was also a delight. Just a beautiful area and so peaceful. Can’t say enough about how awesome our stay was. The property and cabin are so beautiful and comfy. The wood stove made for a warm and cozy evening with just the needed amenities to relax and unwind. Fishing little bald lake waters was super productive and visiting in local Bobcaygeon was so much fun. We will definitely revisit this host and their piece of paradise. Can’t say enough about how much fun we had.

We met Patti and Dennis upon our arrival. They welcomed us warmly, and gave us some general info. Dennis helped us bring in our food and luggage, and came in and helped us set up the fire and how to use the tv. Everything was exactly as described. We made all our meals in the unit and everything we needed was available to us. We met Patti and Dennis outside on both mornings and had lovely chats with them. They were both available when we needed assistance and were very quick to respond, but were never intrusive. Our dogs absolutely loved walking through the property and the woods with us. We hope to visit them again sometime in the summer to enjoy all that Stoney Lake, and the Irwin Inn, had to offer.

Easy access. Clean and organized

We had a great stay, the location was very quiet (apart from the occasional train), and property was very nice. It was a great escape from living in the GTA! The cottage was very clean, and Georgia and Doreen were very responsive to our questions.

Natalia and Evgeney were great hosts. They were both very responsive, friendly, and accommodating. Check-in was flexible and easy thanks to Evgeney, who did a great job at setting us up with our cabin. The cabin itself was exactly as advertised. We found it to be very clean. The view of Rice Lake from our cabin was great, and the area is really peaceful and quiet. Overall, we had a great time here! It was a perfect relaxing weekend.

Margaret seemed very nice, she left croissants in the kitchen for us to have in the morning. Overall a very cozy spot to stay and we had no issues. One thing I noticed is that there's an adjoining door that connects from her side of the building to ours and I'm not sure if it locks, maybe it does but I didn't see a lock option on my side. Anyway it still felt private and we definitely got what we paid for.

The cabin is really nice, not too close to the other cabins near by. Dishes and silverware were provided which was nice, and a mini fridge as well. We brought our own portable stove as there is no oven/stove at the cottage, and everything worked out perfectly. We stayed in cottage #3 which seemed closest to the beach area and access to kayaks, canoes, paddles, etc. Front desk was very nice and supportive when we asked to have the beach shed unlocked for us to go canoeing. Golfing is also a really fun thing to do on site! We rented clubs and golf carts and had a great time. No complaints! Nice and quiet area to go with friends, family, or as a couple.

We had a great time Gord’s place!The cabin is spacious, cozy, and functional with a fully equipped kitchen and two full bathrooms. Great location with easy access to the pool and a beautiful view of the lake where you can enjoy stunning sunsets right from the deck. The grounds are meticulously maintained with beautiful flowerbeds and ample lakeshore space, very quiet,creating a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. Gord and his family are exceptional hosts—friendly, respectful, accommodating, and quick to respond to any questions we had. Gord even offered a flexible check-in time and provided two heaters for a couple of chilly nights. His local recommendations for nearby attractions were also greatly appreciated. Additionally, their thoughtful gesture of providing a play kitchen structure with toys made our toddler incredibly happy. We highly recommend Gord’s place to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature. Thank you for a memorable stay—we look forward to returning!

Our family of 6 stayed at this wonderful family home for a week. My in laws are in their 70s and our two boys are ages 5 and 8. This home was the perfect layout for all of us. We all had our own space and the boys really enjoyed hanging out in the backyard “gazebo.” Upon arrival, we immediately felt right at home. This place has a beautiful, peaceful feel to it. Everything was clean and well laid out and the hosts have not missed a thing for their guests. Their guidebook was very thorough and helpful to those new to the area of Toronto/Scarborough. We did not have a car but found it very easy (and quick) to get around via Ubers. We were downtown for a blue jays game (kids Jay sundays are great!!) and a concert. We also spent one afternoon at the hockey hall of fame and the St. Lawrence market. A wonderful oasis to come “home” to at the end of a day in the city. The neighbourhood is so lovely just like this home. Thank you Liz and Derek for an amazing holiday!

This place was beautiful and homey! Honestly, the upper floor was much bigger than we expected and very clean. The bathrooms were all renovated and looked beautiful. The space was nice and kitchen was very pristine. The pool area was enjoyable and pond was nice to boat in. Would recommend this place for a nice family cottage trip :)
