This place was small but very nicely done. It was the perfect space for our little family to stay on our trip. Debby is a great host - responsible and generously provides snacks and all the little details you would want. The place was very clean, cozy and really well set up for the space. We loved it and would stay here again!

275+ Five Star Reviews! - Actual True Beachfront!

RebeccaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Spent the weekend celebrating my mom’s 75th birthday in Mark’s condo! We thought we had a plumbing issue and when we were unable to reach staff at the condo, Mark replied right away. Turned out to be updated commodes with built in flow control! His responsiveness was greatly appreciated, especially given the occasion we were there for. My mom enjoyed a dip in the pool which hasn’t happened in years. She is disabled and suffers from dementia but was able to maneuver through the unit with ease. She enjoyed the view and spent quite a bit of time watching the waves roll in and people watch! ❤️

Beautiful home, golf cart is a major bonus. Pool was a great hit with the kids, warmer for the pool works wonderfully as well. Lots of beach/pool toys in the garage to use. Having a washer and dryer at the home was huge for us. Would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting an “at home” feel, but at the same time feel like you’re on a paradise vacation.

The Surfin’ Dog

ReubenRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
The surfin dog was a great choice for our family get together. Quiet cul de sac setting with sidewalks for walking the neighborhood as well as ample off street parking. The covered area was great for sitting and setting up a hammock. The beds were clean, comfortable, and the bathroom was adequate. TV and internet was great when we stayed indoors, mostly because the AC was working awesome! Great, responsive, and accommodating host!!

Cozy Cottage at Waverly House

JenniferRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Absolutely will book this place every year for my beach birthday weekend. It was a perfect location to Whitecap Beach and the Omni Republic of Texas Grill for our every year 7 course prepared chef dinner! Absolutely perfect! Only minor complaint was neighbors dog barked in the middle of night our first night a few times but not a reason to not come back. Place was so clean and neat! Loved the shower! Great water pressure! Easy to unload and load out things as well!

Serene Spacious and luxurious 2 Bed 2 Bath

GayRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
My husband, myself and son just stayed there for several days. There was a couple of issues due to a severe thunderstorm. The hosts were very helpful and responded quickly to the issues. The house is beautiful and the yard is so well maintained and peaceful. The beds are very comfortable. This is a one story house which is a big plus for me. Every part of this place is immaculate! I love this house and hopefully can stay in it anytime we visit again.

Cuban Breeze

RosieRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Beautiful, new, well decorated, and clean home! Everything is provided except beach towels. The home is within walking distance of the grocery store and about a 15 min walk to the beach. It was our first time to Port A, and we loved the warm, soft waves with close parking. Unfortunately, a few of the kids got stung by jellyfish, which is the only thing negative about any of these TX beaches. But we didn't have any problems with tar balls this summer as we did last summer at South Padre. We paid an extra $50 per day to heat the jacuzzi size pool (think square instead of rectangle bc one end is very shallow that's not swimmable but more for sitting) in the backyard, and it was very nice warm water after our beach outings. Tina was very easy to communicate with, quick to respond. She left us a nice welcome gift basket of treats (chocolate, gummy bears, pack of mini cookies, trail mix, water, wine bottle), which was a nice surprise. You couldn't get a better host!

Heart of Port A! Golf Cart Accessible, Pool, Beach

VirginiaRating, 5 stars2 days ago
We would like to thank y’all for letting us stay here. The location was perfect and met all our expectations. We enjoyed drinking coffee on the deck and feeding the turtles. I was grateful for the additional fans and wide selection of pillows. The Pillows and throws were an added bonus. I had gotten used to taking my own on our travels but this time everything I might have needed was already there, including a plethora of cooking supplies. Thank you again!

This was our second stay at Jonathan’s house. The house is so spacious and has a home feel to it! The kitchen is my absolute favorite part of the house. So great to gather in the kitchen cooking as a family with plenty of space to all work together. We also enjoyed the pool area. The adults can relax in the water while the littles swim with the grill going! The host is always very quick at responding and making sure that we have everything we need for our stay. Don’t question it just book this house for your next trip! ❤️ We will definitely be booking this house for our next beach trip.

Your guide to Port Aransas

Introduction

Charming and laid-back, Port Aransas is the only town on Mustang Island, one of the seven barrier islands along the Texas Gulf Coast. In the 19th century, pirates frequented its shores, and legend has it that there’s buried treasure somewhere on the island. But these days, “Port A” is a beloved beach getaway because of its 18 miles of uninterrupted shoreline, great fishing, coastal wildlife including migratory birds and dolphins, and plentiful outdoor activities, such as surfing, parasailing, paddle-boarding, and even skydiving. In town, browse boutique shops and galleries, and after the sun goes down, you can usually find live music at its rollicking beachfront bars and clubs.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Port Aransas

The subtropical climate in Port Aransas means you can expect nice weather for most of the year. Summers are long, hot, and fairly humid, with temperatures around 90 degrees Fahrenheit, so don’t forget to pack sunscreen and bug repellent. Like many destinations in this region, summer is hurricane season here, so keep that in mind when booking one of the area’s vacation rentals. Winters are milder, with average temperatures in the 60s and lows in the 50s; the water, which is normally wonderfully warm, gets chilly in December and January.

Top things to do in Port Aransas

San Jose Island

Just north of Port Aransas, San Jose Island, a barrier island 21 miles long and 5 miles wide, is one of the best shelling spots around. It’s privately owned and closed to vehicles, but the public can access the many miles of beautiful, quiet beach by ferry. Due to nearby shipwrecks, it’s also become a destination for treasure hunters who regularly discover artifacts dating back centuries. You can also spend an afternoon fishing in the surf or collecting sand dollars and lightning whelks along the waterline.

Fishing

Port A is a world-class destination for fishing, and hosts several tournaments each year. In the late 19th century, the town was even briefly named after the tarpon that were caught en masse here at the time. Buy a license to cast your own line; you can charter a boat, or head to Roberts Point Park, the South Jetty, or Horace Caldwell Pier, where local anglers regularly haul in sharks.

Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center

Located in the Central Flyway, the tidal flats, marshes, and shoreline of Mustang Island host hundreds of native and migrating birds. The Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center features a 700-foot boardwalk and observation tower, from which visitors can spot songbirds, wading birds, waterfowl, and even the occasional alligator.
