Vacation rentals in Paterson

The farm is located about 23km from Makhanda but because of the poorly maintained roads it will take at least 30min to get into town. The dirt road from the tarred road to the accommodation is in a very poor condition. It does not appear to have been graded in a while. This makes the road very difficult for low clearance vehicles to negotiate. I would not recommend using the road if your vehicle does not have a high clearance. The place is cold and there are no heaters in the rooms. There however is a lovely fireplace in the living room. The wood though was wet and did not burn readily. We had to buy dry wood. It is very tranquil and isolated from the city. Great if you just want to get away. Recommended for a getaway. Bear in mind there isn't much else to do on the farm e.g., no hiking paths, etc. The WiFi is good but not available during load shedding.

The accomodation is situated ca. 5 minutes drive from Addo, which was perfect for us. 2 minutes away by car you can do your groceries at Spar and eat at the local restaurant. I highly recommend to try the braai dinner offered by Juanita and Attire, it was soo delicious. They also recommended a private safari, which is 15 minutes away from Colchester, which we made and didn't regret at all, as you can see among many animals lions, giraffes and rhinos- these ones you can't see in Addo. The house was very clean, the bed comfortable. Juanita and Attie were very lovely, attentive and caring hosts, we felt immediately like home. We warmly recommend this accomodation.

Staying in this charming farmhouse felt like a journey back in time. The farmhouse is surrounded by unspoiled nature. However, it's worth noting that there are limited dining options in the vicinity, and the nearest shop is quite a distance away, so make sure you have everything you'll need with you. There was an option provided by the hosts for a hearty breakfast and dinner, with the unique twist of grilling your own meat over an open fire. Jenifer also booked a very nice game drive for us. Just ask her about the options. We did encounter a bit of bad luck with heavy rain during our visit, which made our journey to the farmhouse a small adventure, especially considering our mode of transportation was a bus. In winter, a 4x4 vehicle is probably a wise choice for the journey. Despite the challenges, our stay in this farmhouse was an unforgettable experience, and I'd highly recommend it to those seeking a rustic retreat into the past.

What a lovely stay in the bush. Quiet, isolated and relaxing, just what we were looking for. Rob is also a great host. We felt right at home. The clean, spacious and comfortable accommodation was lovely, but what we particularly enjoyed was the abundance of well kept dirt roads crisscrossing the farm - they made for excellent trail running while spotting numerous buck and birds. We would highly recommend a weekend at Copper Moon.

Beautiful apartment. Extremely clean and well organized. Safe area. The apartment had all the amenities that is needed and more. Attention to detail. Great amount of plugs for charging of devices. Separate lounge, bedroom and bathroom. Spacious and bigger than the pictures described. Parking on site as described. Very modern looking apartment and very friendly host.

Lovely space which exceeded our expectations. Very clean, neat, stylishly decorated with everything you need for a weekend stay. Easy drive to Addo National Park.

Vryheid Farm is a very unique experience, an 1800s house (modernized) with sweeping views in all directions. Secluded, with security, big rooms, large deluxe kitchen for family mingling & meals. overlooks the backside of Amahkala Reserve, you can hear lions roar & a springboard or kudu wandered through the front area. On top of a hill, theveranda catches cooling breezes. At night with no neighbors close, we were treated to starry skies with no light pollution. Amazing! Not near commercial venues. Bring in your food & settle in.

One of the most special Airbnb’s we've been to on our entire trip. A beautiful camp on top of the hill with a picture-perfect view on the surrounding wildlife. Would certainly recommend to couples or groups - this is a very special place.
