Gorgeous Gated Retreat Near Ocean w Pool & Deck!

My family and I greatly enjoyed our time at the house. It had ample space and beautiful surroundings outside. We felt right at home here with everything we needed to cook together each day and even fun pool toys for our days outside. We would definitely return!

Cottage Ho’onanea, house of peace

LeahneRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
This property was a home away from home and the personal touches were EXCELLENT!! Little solar lights lit the deck up and the deck furniture/fire pit is BEAUTIFUL ~ The decor was exquisite and the bedding was to die for. The ability to close off the family room create additional privacy was GENIUS!! ~ I loved all of the maps and books about the Volcano/Big Island, and there were plenty of heaters to keep us warm on a chilly night~ The BEST PART OF ALL WAS PELE’S DANCING at Kīlauea, and to come back to such a wonderful and peaceful oasis after such an exciting evening with Pele was PRICELESS!! Huge Mahalos!!

Very peaceful, clean, and not far from volcanoes national park. It's very secluded and quiet, so we had a blast freaking out our teenagers .

Fire Pit Soaking Tub Enclosed Lanai Artisan Home

ChloeRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Very serene surroundings and beautiful interior. Feels luxurious. We loved how close this was to the volcano park so it was easy to visit at night or early morning, away from crowds and to catch volcano’s lava glow. Magical spot.

Volcano Art Retreat w/ Hot tub sleeps 8-Spacious!

AnneRating, 5 stars2 months ago
Our three generational family of seven loved staying here. Everyone had their own space, and the house has lovely communal spaces like the lanai, living room and hot tub area. Coming from cold, snowy Saskatchewan, a highlight was morning coffee on the lanai! The appliances are like new, and the house is pristine and well maintained. The beds are so comfortable, and the bedrooms have towel warmers, extra cozy blankets, room darkening curtains, and plenty of lamps and outlets. We enjoyed the location, as it’s minutes from Volcano National Park. We were so fortunate to be there during eruptions. I recommend getting a park pass, so you can check out the park often like we did to view the volcanic activity. The hot tub is such a nice bonus. We enjoyed the quiet neighborhood, and loved hearing the frogs and roosters. The hosts have personalized the house with beautiful landscaping, freshly cut flowers and incredible art work. Thank you!

Hale Ho'okipa

DanaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Kent’s place in volcano is a must stay. Its charming, clean, beautifully decorated, and super close to Volcanoes National Park. Kent is very nice and super responsive if you need anything at all during your stay. I love that they have a wood burning fireplace in the unit and even leave supplies and amazing instructions on how to start a fire. We will without a doubt stay with Kent again when we return to Volcano!

Nalehua House

T’seraRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Quintessential east side of the island setting—lush and lovely. Hot tub and firewood were especially nice for the cooler mornings and evenings to sit outside with a cup of coffee or glass of wine, both covered so no matter about a rain shower or cloud mist. On a clear night the stars are spectacular too! The house had all the amenities to comfortably accommodate/occupy kids and beach going and laundry and everything else we needed. Would be quite happy to stay there again.

Aloha Haven: Tranquil Jungle Retreat in Paradise

TammyRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
very nice people. James invited us to a bonfire on the weekend we were there. lovely folks staying there we got to visit with. James was very nice. We ran out of propane during the storm and he came over right away, in the pouring rain, to remedy the situation. listening to the creatures outside all night was actually pretty soothing. a huge change from city noises!!! it was very very rainy, like super duper once in 2 years rain, thunder and lightning storm that lasted 3 days ⛈️,... despite all that the cabin was comfortable and cozy. the beds were nice with extra blankets that we never really needed. my boys and I especially liked the outdoor shower 🚿 the property was amazing and lush with an abundance of fruit trees. 🥑 🍊 Excellent location as you're only 45 minutes from Hilo or 45 minutes from Volcano 🌋 we would definitely come back and stay at another cabin on this property.

Second time staying at this property and it’s a lovely experience and lovely area off the beaten path. Very quiet and clean. I’m appreciative of the hospitality that both Sharon and Stephen showed me. Will be going back for a 3rd time in the future.

Entire 1st floor unit at J&R's Banana Cabana

DeborahRating, 5 stars5 days ago
We had a wonderful time at the Banana Cabana. It exceeded all of our expectations. We are the types who go out and explore all day, and just want to come "home" to a comfortable haven. This was just that. It was a little paradise of birds, nature, and quiet. You couldn't even see neighbors, if there were any. Some might need night life, but we don't. In our little private lanai, we came home to a glass of wine and charcuterie to talk about the day. Morning coffee out there was wonderful too. I would rent this place again in a heartbeat. Oh, and while we really aren't beach types, we did drive down to the ocean (maybe about a mile or less) and watched the waves one evening (AMAZING). The cabana offers all the beach stuff necessary if that is your thing. All in all, we give this place a 10!!

Lotus Garden Botanica Apartment Hilo Accommodation

YixinRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Great location! And the room feels like a little tropical bliss, you get a super nature connected place with the semi open kitchen. Lots of street parking and you can even wait for nearby some restaurant lying on the bed 😂 We had a lot of fun seeing turtles at Carlsmith Beach Park and drove up to Mauna Kea to watch sunset while still being able to make dinner in town. This is as close as it gets for visiting Mauna Kea and the volcanoes. Oh and the coquis sing loudly - foo-fi foo-fi :) and sometimes it rains at night on the tin-ish roofs you get all the nature ambience. As long as you have expectations aligned this is a great place to stay!

Studio Ohana Cabin Retreat

MartinRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Unique property you feel comfortable but in the jungle at the same time. The Jeep 4WD is a must for the road, but it will be useful around the island to go beyond the normal tourist places. Forget holiday resorts and cities, this is real escape holiday destination. Great place, great value thanks for letting us stay in your place. :-)

Secluded Bamboo Cabin on Sacred Healing Land

BobRating, 5 stars6 months ago
Great experience and very friendly host and neighbors. This bamboo hut is welcome to everyone who wants a retreat or living far away from the network. There is even a sanctuary room for meditation. However, when i lived there, there was a hurricane. So it's kind of scary to hear the strong wind blowing the jungle and trees/leaves hitting the rooftop.

A beautiful, peaceful, and serene spot just minutes away from the hot springs. The accommodations were as described and the host was excellent. If you are looking for a retreat from the noise of the world, this is your spot. Will definitely stay here again when I return to Pahoa...

Cozy, private jungle cabin

ReeceRating, 5 stars1 week ago
This is a great place to stay if you want to disconnect and be off grid for awhile. A bit of a drive to and from Hilo but the privacy and natural surroundings make this place peaceful and quite. Expect limited cell service with closest wifi option 10 minutes down the road at "The Oasis". The cabin itself is pretty barebones on the inside. The bed was nice and comfortable but don't expect the complete comforts of going indoors here. Experience the sounds of birds and other wildlife as you go to sleep. You can cook and hang in the very thoughtout outdoor area complete with princess bed, outdoor mat and yogo matted area. Semi Private bathroom/shower is a quick walk across the path. Overall a great experience and would stay here again.

Borders State Oceanfront Land, A/C, Luxury

MatthewRating, 5 stars1 week ago
I had an amazing stay at Rachel’s cottage. It was perfect for my needs of working remote early in the AM (solid internet) and enjoying the serene surroundings in the afternoon/evening. The lava field/ocean cliffs right behind the place are super special and I found myself wandering there more than expected, even at night for incredible stargazing. Rachel is a super kind host, very communicative and you can tell she’s a good person. Would stay here again in a heartbeat

Rainforest Tea House w Pool /Rental Car Options

LyndseyRating, 5 stars32 months ago
The house was exactly what I was looking for and more — private, safe, surrounded by nature, within 15 minutes of a beautiful beach and pet-friendly. I was also happily surprised by the number of stores 10 minutes away in Pahoa’s town center including a Whole Foods like store called Malama Market, a CVS affiliate called Longs Pharmacy, great Thai food at Ning’s Thai and delicious breakfast at the Tin Shack Bakery. The weather was also better than I expected — I’d (correctly) anticipated daily tropical rain showers, but the late mornings through afternoons were almost always sunny during my June stay. And I was also pleasantly surprised that Instacart delivery people were able to successfully deliver goods from Hilo, 30-40 mins away. The house itself is beautifully decorated. I personally loved the crystals around the bed and flickering decorative lights. Those relaxing touches along with the sounds of nature — birds, frogs, insects and intermittent tropical rain — helped set the stage for some very restful sleep. I didn’t do any cooking beyond warming things up during my time there, but the refrigerator, freezer, oven and stove worked perfectly, and the shower water was nice and warm. Also, the car I rented from Kristen was perfect for my needs. You definitely need a car when staying here and one that can handle unpaved terrain. I loved my stay, and as long as you’re ok with lizards, insects, tropical rain, spotty cellular service supplemented by GREAT wifi, friendly kittens and a dog roaming the property, you’ll likely love it too.
