Villa in Opua
4.9 out of 5 average rating, 31 reviewsGorgeous views Sails Villa in the Winterless North
We really enjoyed our stay. It is a beautiful apartment with fantastic views. It was ideal for the five of us with a pleasant kitchen and dining room and comfortable decking area. It was well located with just a 10 minute walk to the walking path to Paihia or the car ferry to Okiato. A very nice spot.

This was our summer holiday getaway and it totally lived up to all our family's aspirations for a memorable time away. We enjoyed the convenience of the cottage. The short walk to the beach and the amazing views from the deck. The cottage was comfortable and well appointed. The winning factor for this place - the hosts Sharon and Luke. They have thought of everything that makes a summer holiday beyond your expectations. From the kitchen essentials, beach towels, bbq and cosy lounge to the deck chairs and well maintained garden as the foreground for stunning sunsets. We would definitely recommend this place. Thank you for everything.

Paihia is an excellent place to stay with lots to do. The property is within walking distance of all attractions, activities and restaurants, the car stayed in the garage our whole stay. The property was perfect, nice views, well equipped and very clean and tidy. We enjoyed our stay
Guesthouse in Russell
5 out of 5 average rating, 32 reviewsA Piece of Paradise - 4
We had an amazing stay! Penelope and Malcolm made us feel welcome from the start, and the space was spotless and cozy. We especially loved the views from our room! The location was perfect—peaceful yet close to everything we wanted to explore. We highly recommend this place, and we can’t wait to come back. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!

To say that the view is impressive is an understatement. The moment you open the front door, the view over the Bay is what makes this an incredible spot to stay. The bean bags, sofas, daybed (my particular favourite for a read) picnic benches on the deck or just reclining in bed, all afford you this fabulous view. It changed every half hour or so, as you're at the centre of a natural amphitheatre you do hear all sorts of sounds from the Tui's, Bellbirds, Kiwis and cicadas, it's constant and glorious. And yes you can hear as cars go by from the ferry, but to even mention that is churlish. As we sat soaking in the view one night the sound of an anchor chain going down was quite distinct and then the puttering of an engine on a boat over half a kilometre away confirmed all was well with the world. It's just a lovely base for popping to Russell and the ferry over to Opua is regular and opens up the rest of the Bay of Islands to you.

We absolutely loved our stay. If you are looking for a quiet place with stunning farmland views and a range of unique experiences, including feeding alpaca, novelty of driving a 4x4, and using a wood fired hot tub…don’t hesitate to book - you won’t regret it. This has to be up there with one of our most memorable weekend breaks because it was an escape that was so different to our everyday busy, city lives. Silv and Steve are just so friendly and generous, they were amazing hosts. The place was so cosy, clean and had everything we needed, and more (including sourdough bread to help ourselves to, farm eggs and fresh plums!). The pizza oven was fantastic and soak in hot tub was pure bliss after some hilly walks around the bush-clad parts of the property. Thanks for such an enjoyable stay.

Felt like a 5 star resort. Everything you may need and more, including a kayak and binoculars. Even monogrammed bathrobes. All the utensils and equipment that you may want to cook. (Snacks and breakfast items too.). Quiet. Peaceful. Stunning view. Adelle was very friendly, helpful and available for any questions. We’d love to return.

We had an amazing stay at this beautiful property! The stunning views and serene atmosphere provided the perfect backdrop for our family to spend quality time together over the Christmas period. We enjoyed plenty of fishing, and the amenities for kayaking and paddle boarding were fantastic. Our dog had a blast too, making friends with Fur. The host was wonderful, checking in to ensure we had everything we needed. Overall, it was a truly memorable experience. Highly recommend!

One of the things that’s hard about finding a place in a new place is the sense of relative distances. We were further outside of town than we had expected, but man was it worth it. The views down to the bay were spectacular. And being from the northern hemisphere, the night sky is of particular interest. We were lucky with high pressure, so being just far enough outside of town gave us breathtaking star gazing. Jo was so helpful in making suggestions for places to see, quickly able to help us prioritize based on the way we roll, a good mix of walking and driving, a wonderful resource and real hospitality pro. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Villa Rêve is perfectly placed to explore all the wonders of far Northland, and then you get to come back to a gorgeous comfortable base. We loved lighting the outdoor fireplace, listening to the doves coo, drinking rosé and watching the sun set. I’m already planning the next trip up.

We had such a wonderful stay here. It’s in a gated community and we always felt safe. Hamish was very accommodating and did a great job of making our holiday as seamless as possible. We loved the pool, spa, trampoline and basketball hoop. Everything about the house is well thought out (and beautiful). The airbnb is in a private and peaceful area, and a 10min drive from the town centre. It felt luxurious staying here and it was definitely the relaxing holiday we were hoping for!

Alison was really thoughtful and responsive host. She checked up on because weather was terrible. All the instructions were clear and easy to understand. The house was beautiful and views from the deck were just incredible. My and friend I definitely will be back and recommend anyone looking for an Airbnb, please do book this place. There is an outdoor hot tub over looking the hills. It’s a peaceful and totally private location. Must visit and stay at Alison’s.
