Smoking friendly vacation rentals in Makry Gialos

We stayed at Gogo's for the second time now and it was a wonderful stay again! Gogo lovingly provided us with bread, honey, jam, butter, water, raki and as a crowning glory a bottle of wine, I hope I didn't forget anything, everything is available for another great start to your holiday in Kato Zakros near Georgia!

The apartment is very clean and just a few steps from the beach. Ioannis is really helpful and nice person.

After initial difficulties with the address, we had a wonderful stay there, everything clean, great location, as you are in the middle of a busy street and you can also get along well in the evening without a car. Also, it was only a 5 minute walk to the beach. Christos was also very nice, gave good tips for activities and restaurants and was always easily accessible! He and his family were very personable! The only drawback: the mattresses were very hard, but for a few nights that's okay. If we fly to Crete again, we will definitely go back.

The stay was great. the apartment is really only a few minutes from the beach (on foot)! The place (Stalis) itself is very beautiful and has a lot to offer, as does the little kiosk right below the apartment. John is always very friendly and helpful. Thank you for everything!

It's hard to find words that can describe how happy I was to stay with Popi. You wake up in the morning and see the sun rise from one balcony and watch it go down from the other. While the sun is wandering across the sky, you can enjoy life in the relaxed little town, relax by the beach that is just below or go for walks in the mountains close by. Really nice. And the best of all is Popi herself. A more hospitable and friendly person you won't find. Every night when I got home from trips, there was the most delicious homemade food waiting for me in front of my door. Thank you so much Popi. I will never forget my stay with you.

I strongly recommend staying there!The apartment is located right above the sea, so you can only imagine how stunning the view is. I was hyptonized by the sea, spending hours sitting on the balcony to enjoy the sun from morning to evening, with the sound of the waves. This was a perfect setting as a solo traveler to take some time for introspection and for work on my laptop too (wifi connection was very good!). Everything is provided for you to cook and the bed was very comfortable. Nearby there are several supermarket, a bakery, and the location is good to explore the eastern part of the island. Just maybe if you are very tall it might be uncomfortable for you to climb up and down the stairs to the bed as it's on a mezzanine (I myself hit my head once lol but the area where it happened is padded so no harm, it wasn't an issue to me!) Manos was very friendly and welcoming, and super responsive whenever I needed. Thank you for the great stay! I will be back :)

A super nice family who welcomes you warmly, advises and helps if you have any questions. The location is perfect, the room simple but clean. You really feel comfortable.

Theodora’s apartment is hidden gem in Agios Nikolaos. During our stay we realized, there is no better location for families with small kids. It’s right next to beach bar with great beach, in our opinion best within the city and there is even kids playground right next to it. You have 6-7 great local restaurants within 5mins walk + 2 grocery shops. Location is very quiet. Apartment is very well equipped with all you need for shorter or even longer stay (we stayed 1month). Theodora was very friendly, responsive and helpful with anything we needed. We can only recommend her and her apartment to anyone who wants to enjoy perfect vacation. Efcharisto Theodora 👍🏻

House as described clean, tidy and strategic as a location to be able to walk around the area.

Linda is a very helpful, generous and friendly landlady. Communication was always quick and helpful. The apartment is exactly as described and perfectly located for excursions to Heraklion, Lassithi plateau or the beach. We felt very comfortable and can highly recommend the accommodation.

Me and my fam. of four really enjoyed our stay in Eleftheria Seaside Trad. house. The apartment was very clean and we felt really at home. It is located within walkingdistance to everything (town square, numerous restaurants, beaches and beautiful hikingtrails). The view was lovely, and on the cosy terrace we could enjoy the sun in the morning and the shade in the afternoon. We will recommend the apartment and the lovely Elounda. We hope to be able come back soon!

Niki was a lovely host, when we saw her in person she would politely ask us how we are, about our stay and equally / mindfully giving us space and privacy. She has a very beautiful, clean, well presented, and very functional home. It has the right amount of privacy, situated within Olive Groves and with neighbours spaced out. There are stunning views outside all the windows, especially the main foldout doors onto a lovely patio with table and 2 sunbeds. There is a lovely beach cove 3 mins walk away, which we borrowed sun chairs and umbrella for. From this beach you can walk to other stretches of beach and Tavernas. It's easy to walk or drive to the other Tavernas and Mini Mart in the village. Equally other villages, beaches, sightseeing, archaeological sights and hikes are easy to explore. We would happily stay here again! *We also enjoyed some lovely figs from Nikis Garden, and some sweet treats offered for my partners Birthday 💖

The 2nd time we stayed with Christina. We felt very welcome again and at home. Our own cottage just outside the city center, near the beach: easily walkable or by city bus.

Such a beautiful place, we felt we were in paradise. We took our own food so didn’t try the taverna but enjoyed dinner with a beautiful view every night and two nights we lay back a star gazed for hours on the deck chairs. The “almost private “ beach was delightful and we never had anyone there with us, so for us very private …

We loved the stay in Agios - Maria was very nice & flexible. Supermarket, lake, sea and restaurants surrounding the flat and the apartment is very sweet with everything u need for a couple of days in Agios. Nice balcony, comfortable bed, nice bathroom. Very thankful for our time here :)

Great apartment with great facilities. Great view and in a great location. Would highly recommend. A home away from home. Boris is a great host even called us when we arrived.

Wonderful stay in a clean and comfortable apartment. Lovely views from both balconies. We could watch the sunrise over the bay in the morning and set over the mountains in the evening. We enjoyed the view of the local soccer field as well. Host and family were generous and kind. Her brother helped with check in and carried a few of our bags up to the apartment. Her mother would give little treats and fruit to us and our daughter when we would see her outside. We ended up walking most everywhere in Sitia with a stroller. Lots of hills, which we expected, and was easy 10-15 minute walk to and from harbor area, but walkability may not be for everyone. We would definitely stay here again.

We were so looked after and made to feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. The place is wonderful- the view is amazing and everything you could need is there. It was such a comfortable place to stay. The location is also very handy for exploring Agios Nikolaos on foot, as well as other surrounding towns and sights in the area if you have a car. I would very highly recommend staying here, it was great!

The room was nice and big, view from the balcony was really beautiful, pool was great and the location was the best. You can find everything you need in Istro - shops, tavernas, beautiful beaches. We loved it and we can certainly recommend!

Great views from the balcony very clean and central. A 2 minute walk from the airbnb to the beach. So cute and quaint!

We stayed over Christmas for 2 weeks, the apartment is really comfortable, clean and as the pictures present it. We were offered clean linens, and also left some little treats which is nice. Always really quick to respond with any queries we had. As other reviewers have commented - it is a steep walk home out of town, although we ended up going a different way most days! Also the internal stairs are tricky with big suitcases but fine otherwise - you are on the top floor after all, so it’s worth it. We always found parking on the side street. Would certainly stay again, and recommend to others. Top floor balcony gets the sun all day ☀️
